We are already in the big crash, Inflation is a catastrophe. This CPI report is a colossal failure. To bring the housing market to a halt, the FED will have to pull all the stops. The unfortunate issue is that other markets are being decimated. If you want to stay green, you have to rely on a lot of diversification. Currently up 14% and being careful. Still a better deal than leaving it in a savings or checking account yielding 0-1 percent interest.

People believe their currency has the worth it does because they have no other option. Even in a hyper-inflationary environment, individuals must continue to use their hyperinflationary currency since they likely have minimal access to other currencies or gold/silver coins.

Inflation is gradually going to become part of us and due to that fact any money you keep in cash or in a low-interest account declines in value each year. Investing is the only way to make your money grow and unless you have an exceptionally high income, investing is the only way most people will ever have enough money to retire.

You have to do your research properly of whether those places are really suitable for you to live for the long-term. You should be considering the work aspect, and the whole picture as well (e.g. culture, ease of travel, costs, tax, housing prices, political system, history, society values, religion, language...etc.). Needless to say, I regretted tremendously going to Singapore. It took me around 8 years to return to the Western world. Once you leave, it gets much harder for you to return to your home country. Recession early 90s, when I left the Army and went back home to the West Midlands in 1993 unemployment there was 45%. Late 90s not much better unless you were in London but Blair opened the floodgates to unlimited immigration. Credit crunch 2008. Shite wages after mass EU immigration post 2004. And on and on. It makes me think now at this age there is no future in the UK. It will always be like this. It's a crying shame because the British have SO MUCH potential but all of our potential is being spaffed up the wall because the government see more reward for themselves and their mates in big business than creating a reward culture for hard work for the average small business owner/s who for many years will struggle just to get by. Go abroad and the situation and the comparison becomes stark just how bad it is here.

While new lines have opened & stations like Tottenham Court Road been rebuilt, many of the stations haven't changed in 40 years! For example the Piccadilly Line. Lovely flash stations at Heathrow but once you get past Hatton Cross it is a visual journey back to at least the 1980's or even older. The Hounslow stations being a good example of what I mean. Functional & kept clean, there are even some clever things done like the bird netting at Hounslow Central that keep birds from roosting under the roof. But overall many of these stations look like something authorized by Clement Attlee during the post war years austerity.

@@gnrseanra9070 Good morning gnrseanra, for me the GDP per Capita is more significant than the general GDP, seems to me that you are of the same opinion. An industrialized country with a high population number achieves a higher GDP, no wonder that the USA and China have a GDP that is so high. Though my term "industrialized" is to be seen critical. I've checked it and used the International Fund Monetary site which is the latest one. GDP per Capita, you are right: UK:26 - France: 27. We in Germany are not much better: 19. I'm right that smaller countries have better numbers: Belgium. 22 - Sweden: 20 - Austria:18 - Denmark 16 - Ireland, your neighbour: 6 (!) - The best in Europe is Luxembourg: 3, even better than Switzerland - Number one: Qatar. - Thank you for motivating me to do some research, I wish you a happy Tuesday.

As a Canadian, I am not sure about this comment. People are moving around to other provinces to a certain extent looking for a lower cost of living, but there is no mass exodus of folks leaving the country. It's actually the opposite, the population growth rate is +2.7 percent . In 2022, the number of Canadians rose by 1,050,110. As of June 16th, 2023 Canadian population is 40 million. The housing supply and demand issue is driving cost on top of inflation and recovering from the impact of covid. Within my personal circle I have two friends that moved from the UK. 1 just got their landed status and plan to pursue getting citizenship. I have a neighbour who relocated his whole family from Houston, Texas because he hates the direction of America. The government needs to address the housing crisis if they continue to expect this kinda of growth. Especially in big cities like Toronto and Vancouver.

There is a shortage of people or in capitalistic terms workers. Canadians are not having big families. Who is going to fill the jobs that need to be done, prop up social insurance, etc. Like many developed countries experiencing stagnant growth rates, immigration is the only solution right now. Nuh. This will be a global recession from 2020 to at least 2031-2032. Just look at historical trend. 1870s market crash that only recovers in the 1880s. 1920s great depression, 1970s oil crisis and now it's 2020s commodity crisis. The global economy is planned and we are all screwed.

Unfortunately not, in our political system all laws that are passed through Parliament have to be read and approved by the Royal family, so if laws reducing their benefits or making them pay tax even got through to the royals, it would likely be quickly denied.

In my opinion, a housing market crash is imminent due to the high number of individuals who purchased homes above the asking price despite the low interest rates. These buyers find themselves in precarious situations as housing prices decline, leaving them without any equity. If they become unable to afford their homes, foreclosure becomes a likely outcome. Even attempting to sell would not yield any profits. This scenario is expected to impact a significant number of people, particularly in light of the anticipated surge in layoffs and the rapid increase in the cost of living.

Yup its because of Brexit. It crippled UK competitiveness when it left the EU. It isolated itself to its "neighbors" which is the EU countries. UK puts up this Brexit fence then EU responded with No more freedom of movement. So the logistics, supply chain, tourism, travel is slapped with border controls, paperwork, taxes, fees, queues..If UK was on Asia yes it can survive but its neighbors are the EU countries hehehe

As a immigrant living in London for the past few years, honestly I never thought UK would be in this shape ever. We used to look up to the G7 countries but to realize this in person was a life changing experience. I could not fathom to state that comparatively India has gained by leaps and bounds in many areas like private sector jobs , healthcare, blue collar services and culture is great compared to the UK. I guess we can just wait and watch now

That's really difficult. There is always the discussion about languages, and integration. If you look at other English speaking nations (as a first language), a lot of them are having similar issues right now. But the UK have recently enacted Brexit, which, I am sorry to say from my personal experience living in the UK for most of the last 20 years, was heavily based around racism. None of the other English speaking nations have divorced from the worlds largest trading block on the basis of wanting to explore "better" trading opportunities, and yet are looking at GDP declines, and dropping down the league tables of the OECD / G7, in such a spectacular, and stupid self-inflicted manner. I would not recommend entering that racist-infested pit called the UK, until such time as they grudgingly return to the EU. You would be far better served going to one of the EU countries where English is a second language, or, learn their national language before you go. And, obviously, there is the question of visas. I don't know your situation, and I dont want to know. I am confident you will be able to figure out what is best for you and your family. But please be aware of just how serious the Brexit situation was, and what was behind it. There are many forums I have personally been on, and when posting under my real named, I have been told to F*&^ off back to my own country, and if I don't like it, dont come here.

I don’t even get this video on so many levels. India’s gdp per capita is far lower, and gdp can be higher because the damn population is like over 15x the population. I am not anti India, I am an Indian myself. Also the recession thing, imf already changed their statement. Feels like a very sensationalist video. I feel uk is in a lot of trouble, but this video only focused on London. That’s like me going to SF or California and coming back with the conclusion that the USA is expensive across and there is crazy drug influence and homelessness across the USA. Seem fair?

The UK is doing okay. The unemployment rate is very low (3,9%) and there's a lot of activity in many fields. The government could always decide to pour more money in the housing sector if that is the main bottleneck that's causing economic stagnation tbh.... or promote legislation so that it is easier to build more flats in London.

The video would have been better to have a more balanced view when it comes to Brexit. Being part of the EU did harm UK as well (There was good and bad on both sides )- we had too many immigrants from Europe taking up construction jobs for cheap and the NHS was overburdened as were our schools and public services. The UK picked up the slack for EU during EU holidays. For instance (what I experienced personally) Germany would have more holidays than UK and the UK team would do the work for the absent Germany team. Europeans worked less hours than UK and UK paid a significant amount into the EU. Also Germany and Europe is doing worse than the UK right now? Didn't the Euro reach parity with the US Dollar? The pound did not. It's worth noting that after the referendum, there was another election and Pro-Brexit Tories won beating Labour in traditional Labour strongholds - this was seen as a second referendum. London tends to be more pro-EU/anti-Brexit, but outside of London (in the more rural/suburban areas) are pro-Brexit/anti-EU. It may be worth getting their opinions also.
