He has only ever been between 7-8’ tall in the comics. So 8-9’ for the movies is enough. But height makes no difference when they keep making him more of a chump when compared to the other characters, both good and bad and that is bullshit. He has always been one of the most powerful beings in the comics and they basically neutered him by the time End Game came around.

Hulk shouldn't have ever lost to Thanos like he did in Infinity War. I realize they needed him to lose for the movie, but they should have had Thanos need to use the power and space stone. That would be the only way Thanos would even stand a chance against the Hulk. And some versions of Hulk in the comics might even overpower the Power Stone.

@@emekao502 Just for kicks, go watch the 1960s Marvrel Animated Incredible Hulk. Quite the difference what time can do to a character. It's an entirely different Hulk than what we see today and reflects Stan Lee's original concept for the character.

Edited because I worded it poorly then got harassed in the comments. Yes in the original run he grows in size but just to break the common misconception people have about Hulk. Its actually uncommon for him to grow in size in most comic runs and he usually only grows in strength. The 2003 Hulk is often considered to be comic accurate, which has lead people to believe Hulk growing in size is a common thing in the comics but it's not.

Canon: The Incredible Hulk Annual #5 (1976) “In this Chris Claremont comic the Hulk grows rapidly while fighting the alien, Goom. Goom is surprised and comments on this, so it is not a mistake on behalf of the artist.” There is absolutely no argument that the hulk changed size and strength with based on his anger. As I remember the explanation, hulk says very few words and his growing size and feats of strength were a way to demonstrate his level of anger. Send your apology to me the same way you sent your misinformation. 😼🤲🏻

And that applies not just to Hulk, but most of the high-end characters. Thor, Hulk, Dr Strange, Loki, Ultron, Hela, Ego, Odin etc. In the MCU people aren't lifting entire cities and destroying continents with physical attacks. Wanda's hex affected a town, not the entire world.

The 2003 Hulk movie was pretty accurate from a strength standpoint (throwing a tank for miles) but the growing was not accurate. Comic book Hulk's size does not increase with anger, just his strength. Marvel's own official references state this clearly.

@@lordesky9671 well as a Hulk reader since the 1970s I can verify that it's consistent with the comics. There have been around 12-13 distinct Hulk versions over the decades. While they have varied in strength and size (and of course different artists have drawn Hulk as larger or smaller) all except one of those Hulk versions remained the same size after the transformation from Banner completed, no matter how enraged or strong they became. There was one version that physically grew bigger with anger- the completely mindless Hulk that existed briefly after the original Secret Wars in the mid 1980s. But that was a one-off for a specific storyline that hasn't reappeared since. The Official Handbook of The Marvel Universe entry for Hulk states: "In time of stress as the Hulk, his epenephrine level escalates once again, causing a corresponding escalation in strength. This is not accompanied by an additional mass gain gain. Instead, this seems to be associated with elevated levels of norepenephrine (known as noradrenaline) within the sympathetic nervous system, which appears to promote increased levels of energy efficiency. To date, the Hulk has never apparently been provoked into demonstrating a maximum output of strength, there could be no upper limit."

Which MCU Hulk they ignored his healing factor for some reason. They did the same to Hellboy(Guillermo del Toro) when he got stabbed in the Golden Army just completely got rid of the fact that Hellboy can heal just as fast as Wolverine in the comics

Professor Hulk/ merged Hulk was actually a bit bigger. Hulk was 7 feet 1000 pounds, merged Hulk was 7’6” 1500 pounds Joe Fixit 6’6” 900 pounds.

Well comic wise(I know that doesn't mean it's true in MCU) but in some comics, the angrier Hulk got the bigger and stronger he became. So with Banner having more control, your theory may very well be true if they were to follow that formula of angrier = bigger. I like your theory

That’s actually exactly what it is. In the comics, the angrier hulk gets, the bigger and stronger he becomes. Since the hulk and Bruce are working together more and more now, their size shrinks.

Right on Hulk's strength having no upper limited but wrong on size. In the comics the angrier Hulk gets, the STRONGER he gets. Contrary to popular belief, his size does NOT increase. Marvel even states this in their official handbook. Some Hulk personas are larger than others but he normally doesn't grow bigger with anger. The 2003 Hulk movie showed that happening and casual moviegoers thought that's how it worked in the comics, but it doesn't. Just like Spider-Man having organic webs instead of web shooters in the Tobey MaGuire movies. The only version of Hulk that got bigger with rage was the completely mindless Hulk who existed for a short time following the original Secret Wars in the 1980s. That Hulk grew bigger but the others don't. Savage Hulk (Green), Joe Fixit (Gray), World War Hulk, Professor Hulk, Doc Green, Devil Hulk, Worldbreaker Hulk, Green Scar, Immortal Hulk, Maestro- all of them get stronger with rage, none of them change size.

@@spiritretro3571 the transformation from Banner to Hulk is one thing- yes, obviously Hulk is more massive the Bruce. However, Marvel says that once transformed, the Hulk's strength increases as he gets angrier, but his size does not. It's directly stated in their own published Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. Like the character himself says - "the madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets".. not bigger.

The Hulk's height always varied, just have a good reason for the differences

"The directors have some stupid reasons for doing so".

Disney is simply emmasculating Hulk. They took him from a bulky rage monster to a soft wussy. I preferred Eric Bana as Bruce Banner and Edward Norton's Hulk.

I agree with you about Nortons Hulk. I always thought that was the best on screen version of him, but this has nothing to do with immasculating or Disney anything. It's actually comic book accurate canon. Hulks' power and size are 100% dependent on his anger. The more he becomes a calmer, more rational being, the weaker and smaller her becomes. That's literally just how his powers work. That's how they have always worked.

I could go along with that, but Eric Bana is too tall as Banner, Edward Norton was much better plus he mixed the comics Bruce Banner & tribute towards the TV Bill Bixby David Banner better.

This is literally it - Hulks powers are DIRECTLY tied to how angry he/Banner is.

Hulk is mellowed down, he's not as angry anymore, that's why he's smaller.

i like the early 2000s hulk way better than the kid friendly version

Yea no try to read some of the Professor Hulk features in comics, and you’ll see how dirty Disney doin Hulk. Plus if he’s getting smaller, why does it have to make him around the same strength level as She Hulk? Trash way to put her into the mix just to have another “strong feminine” character in their franchise.

the Marvel character Wolverine is 5 foot 3 while the actor Hugh Jackman is 6 foot 3.

He's becoming passionate hulk. There's a fire in him that's kind of like anger but not quite anger. It keeps him small.

I'm 59 & I've been reading Hulk comics on & off since the 70's & has NEVER been that big (maybe in a Nightmare scenario at best!!) You tell me in all the comics & the all the animated shows thru out years & different transformations has the Hulk has been that "HUGE" NEVER, COZ IT NOT COMIC ACCURATE.There's 2 video shorts on KZread explaining on the size of the Hulk. The first one was Lee's explanation on why the Hulk became so big, stating he was in different stages in his transformations. His first transformation represents "The child" & he almost 10ft in height, okay. The second transformation ( & This is where my beef is at!!) He becomes as huge as his "HOUSE!!" & He's was still able to wearing his pants?? HELL NO!! Furthermore when he went to fight those Gamma radiated dogs to save Betty Ross, look how he put her to safety by putting her up in a tree WITH ONE HAND, LOOKING LIKE A SCENE FROM "KING KONG!!" Like I said before you tell me in any comics/ animated shows you would see the Hulk that size?? NONE coz that never happened!! Granted when the Hulk first made his appearance in the comics way back in the 60's he was Grey & a smaller frame & became green 💚 a few more issues later & in the 70's he became much bigger as he is to this very day. The 3rd even bigger Transformation when he was at the base & wearing elasticed pants represented the "Adult" & that was Lee's reasoning for those Transformations & it's bogus & not comic accurate in any stretch of the imagination!! The second you tube short video I saw recently on explaining the MCU's Hulk is shirking from 8ft 10" in the first Avengers movie to 8ft 6" in the Age of Ultron to finally 8ft in Endgame. At least they were all proper sizes of the Hulk!! The Lee/Bana Hulk is complete utter bogus & NOT FROM THE COMICS!!

I think the reason might be that the hulk has been stronger when he was angry and in Ragnarok hulk had full control for 2 years and probably fought, trained and got stronger while once banner took over banner is a thinker and not a fighter so he probably lost his muscle for brain.

A very good explanation but, to my mind not entirely plausible. Now while in the movies the creators have artistic freedom of sorts, in the comic series when we see the very beginning of Hulk, he went through various changes and got bigger and stronger. There is an evolutionary process in the comics as opposed to the movies. But that's just me.

In the comic book, when Professor Hulk showed up, Hulk was the biggest he had ever been. He actually got bigger when he became Professor Hulk in the comic books. I wish they would have stuck to that in the movies.

Not really, considering he loses control and becomes less effective the more angry he gets. The more angry he gets, the bigger and stronger he becomes. It’s a pretty good way to balance his seemingly limitless powers.

I mean depending on how angry he is, he might be bigger or might be smaller🤷🏽‍♂️rn he's something of a scientist himself so he's bound to be smaller in size due to lack of anger
