    Just a question. How come you did not get the sway bar disconnect system. It allows more wheel articulation than the TRD Pro. Plus I have noticed a lot of folks remove the steel front skid plates that is stronger than the aluminum TRD Pro skids. It's aluminum on the Pro because that is a Baja prepped truck. High speed through sand type trails jumping, so light wait was needed. But on an off road trail steel is superior. I ordered the TRD off-road specifically because is the only trim with the sway-bar disconnect system. We have a GX460 that comes with that system standard. And that truck is a rebadge Land Cruiser Prado, just a different engine. I just curious. Great truck enjoy.

    I dont belive this gen 4 runner has auto disconnect sway bar links unless you add them after market. The steel bash plate does work great. I got the aluminum one because it's my wife's suv and she wanted it. That's the reason I got the trd wheels too. She wanted them. I would of left the stock trd offroad wheels. But it's her suv so I did what she wanted to it. My o ly requirement was it was a trd off road version so If I ever take it over to use as a hunting rig it has the capabilities I need.

    I have the system on mine they come with it fromToyota. It's the KDSS system. These trucks are the Gen 5 but the Gen 4 also had them. It activates in 4Low below 10 MPH. In normal driving they reduce the nose dive as they come with thicker sway-bars then the other 4Runners. The Lexus GX460 has the system standard on all trim levels. With 4Runners you can only option for it in the TRD OffRoad trim and Trail Edition in the older 4th Gen. The TRD wheels look great unfortunately when I got my truck what Toyota had allocated with KDSS at the time for my area did come with the TRD wheels. One of the reasons, the TRD skid plate does not fit on KDSS trucks because of the sway-bar disconnect system. The sway-bar has hydraulic shocks and the sway-bar is routed differently. I can understand your wife loving her truck, mine is always taking mine. Even though she has the GX460 something about the 4Runner feel that everyone loves once they start driving. My Mother in-law wants one now so she will be replacing her Jeep with one. It does drive better. Enjoy. Blessings and Happy New Year to you, your family, and your channel.@@Jason-Samko

    Another great video Sir! I did notice that your spare appears to be stock perhaps 265? Please do check the size and do the math on the circumference and RPM equivalence. The ABS and traction control will "accept" a certain amount (percentage) of rotational difference such as tire wear if you don't rotate often. BUT JUST FOR AN EXAMPLE.......running a 33" as daily, then toss on a 31" spare WILL ABSOLUTELY throw both systems into chaos because the ECU simply does not know what is going on. These systems work based on the RPM sensors information (from all 4 wheels to ground actively) to electronically compensate "acceptable" discrepancies to do their intended job. This is something you absolutely cannot turn off or override, nor compensate for.....PERIOD. I'm sure you could probably limp home or to the shop at 15-20 MPH without any damage, however I would not recommend "taxing" the systems nor risking yours or any others safety. Anyway, I do not know the exact parameters or limitations per say, thus I always shoe my spare with the exact size I have on the road. Doesn't have to be an expensive tire, just the same rotational size. Now 265 vs. 275 may not be an issue(?), but I just don't want to find that out in an emergency situation. Happy trails!

  • @Jason-Samko

    @Jason-Samko

    Fantastic point and I do the same when it's a big difference. Like on my gladiator when I went from 33s to 35s I did the spare too. On the 4 runner the difference is not that big and I don't believe will be an issue. And also I don't change to my spare unless it's a side wall puncture. I always carry a tire plug kit . It's faster that putting in the spare and then I don't even need to take it to the shop. Last 8 flats I've got over the years I simply plugged, filled with my compressor and was back on the road in 10 mins.

    Common misconception about open diffs. They actuality always spilit torque 50/50%. But when when one wheel lifts off the ground or loses traction there is less friction. So you make less torque, only enough to spin the one wheel with less traction. And the amount of torque it takes to do that is practically nothing. And the other wheel only gets half of that amount of torque
