WHY is Stained Glass in trouble?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In a week when stained glass was added to the list of endangered crafts, it was an honour to teach traditional glass painting skills to the next generation at Ely Stained Glass Museum, in the UK.
The Stained Glass Museum plays a unique role in providing a bridge between existing artistic, heritage and research organisations and the public, and in preserving and advocating for our stained glass heritage. These three fundamental aspects; engaging diverse audiences, collaborating with creative communities, researchers and partnering organisations in the sector, collectively form the foundations of our vision to be:
"An accessible visitor attraction with a nationally recognised collection that provides learning experiences for all and actively promotes the preservation, study and appreciation of stained glass."

love Ely Cathedral, i go every year to the Christmas food and Gift fair they hold. i looked into the Stained glass course before Covid hit, must remember to look into it again when I'm over there this November for the Christmas fair. i would love to be able to make some stained glass for family presents and as a hobby.

Those old Medieval-looking heads are some of my own favorites to paint. They reduce the face to its simplest, most basic elements that create a powerful reaction to viewers, more so (I think) than the most photo-realistic depictions. I think you've made a wise choice of subject matter for your 2-day course!

Good! I have just opened my studio where I make stained glass using the Tiffany method. I plan to learn other techniques in the future as well.

Mostly: sg artisans are endangered species in my country . Impossible Almost to make a living out of it . Unless considering it a pure dedication.
