UPDATE: She got her form from a witch's potion. Now who is the witch? My guess her grandma. Edit: The witch is her medical teacher, my bad.

I have some explanations for yall: Ganyu is half qilin, which is an adeptus that looks like a goat, adepti can shapeshift to look like humans so it's not an issue. Same thing with yanfei. Tighnari's family was deeply connected with a species of animals and they slowly merged bloodlines. Diona, sucrose, and gorou are special species. Sigewinne was created when a person died in elynas, so the blood of the human mixed with the blood of elynas. Also side note, melusines emerge slowly from elynas, kinda like mushrooms, they don't all form at the same time.

The examples I used just shows people who are down bad to go for nonhuman partners, but their humanlike features probably makes it easier to wham each other Sigewinne in the other hand doesnt have a proper origin yet so we can only theorize, i like to believe she was an original melusine and not from any melusine mashing Also with your side note, was that actually confirmed? if so, maybe my guesses are correct 😮

My personal guess is a) Sigewinne’s appearance is a disguise to make her appear more approachable to humans, or b) Melussines have began to evolve and take a more human appearance to fit in with society

The catalysts for making a Melusine are Elynas' blood and a PneumOusia charged component. I think Sigewinne looks more human because besides the two catalysts, a 3rd one was also mixed in, namely human blood from those who died in the explosion that gave birth to the Melusines.

wait, is there a chance she was made specifically from MARY-ANN'S BLOOD? It would feel very full-circle to have her be connected to Mary-Ann in some way, to be in a sense her progeny. And maybe all the robot parts are SPECIFICALLY Seymour. What if they were the only ones even present at the battle? That despite it being comprised of so few people, they were such powerful beings as to cause such destruction.

Hoyoverse wants a playable Melusine but they're too lazy to make a brand new body type, so they just used a loli body type, add 2 Melusine antennas, and calls her a Melusine.

They already created multiple Melusine around the city and their home. Why can't they grab one of them and use it as some building structure type and add unique clothes or item that separate them from other Melusine. I'm not game designer or 3D modeling, so hope you guys explains it better than I am.

In her character info it says that they do have katzlein blood but its a recessive gen and thats why she have it and lyney doesn't

Regarding the origins of Sigewinne, I think it was just Elynas' doing. Elynas really loves his child (Melusine), he also said that Melusine's appearance is very cute and wants his children to be happy, but maybe he knows that his child is being discriminated against because they are "different". So, I think Elynas makes his child more "human" . Just like when he created Breacher Primus, he could have created a more human Melusine.

"Sigewinne" because she is special for whatever reason well as teyvat would say "Teyvat has its own rules" Hoyoverse can just created a melusine character with vision(that would be more interesting), but for some reason Sigewinne has human-like feature.

Some appear sooner, while some later. I loved this video, despite being a uncomfortable topic. Your editing, scripting are really nice and fun to listen to.

The REAL reason she looks different is because Hoyo wanted to make her a playable character and didn't want to do the massive mountain of work it would take to build out all of the mechanics to do that and would rather just use their standard playable "child" model. But yeah, she is awesome. Seriously, a nurse with a tranq gun shooting people in the back. I am really curious how they will eventually explain why she looks human. The entire race is awesome. I really like Aranara, but the Melusines are definitely my favorite. Just the fact that they skip when they walk... I love them. Carole in the story quest though... That was painful. (I'll leave it at that to not spoil it, if you know, you know).

as far as the 'manimals' bit - it's less strange because it's more like they evolved - Tignari for example when talking about his ancestors saying they in turn evolved from desert foxes that moved into the rain forests where their fur turned green and became adapted to that environment - I assume it's similar for the others. And the half adeptus isn't as weird since adeptus can turn into humans at will, making hanky panky not an issue.

They real "identity" is still unknown they being born from Elynas could mean they have some secrets we dont fully understand yet I just dont see why she would be human in the first place, it really seems like a case of "lets make this char playable" because melusine have weird hands they seem rather slow (perhaps they take their time) but their whole aesthetic and behavior doesnt match for playable character who are supposed to be fast and fluid enought thats why I think they tried to make her more human in the first place and I have no doubt they can make the most random reason like "she was born differently" Really not a fan of the "magic" transformation explanation as there's nothing to justify this option yet

One of my favorite theories is that a vision fell into the blood, like you stated, but I also have a few theories of my own. 1. She is an expirement by the Narzissenkreuz Ordo to make more melusines by placing humans or new metal or visions into Elynas' body/blood after the battle to see what would happen. Considering that we can still find them and their experiments around the melusine village, this seems like a plausible idea to me. 2. She's been around humans directly for so long, and had the ambition (her vision) to become human, so she gained a "special body" once she received her vision to alter her appearance. 3. She's touched primordial water. It's possible that primordial water has a different effect to a melusine's body than it does for a human or a human from fontaine. After consuming or coming into contact with primordial water, she could have gained her "special body", which made her appear more human.

I wanted to say something about the mythology theory: you can't really just yoink someone's vision and use it willy nilly. When a vision is taken from its owner, it becomes inactive until 1. it is reunited with its owner, or 2. the new bearer of the vision shares the same aspiration as the original owner (depending on the person and their aspiration, this can make the vision transfer ownership, or just simply reactivate temporarily as seen in the Inazuma archon quest with Kazuha using his friend's vision) Also, as seen from many examples in-game, you don't necessarily have to be human to get a vision - you just need to be human 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩. I'd say Melusines fall into this category comfortably seeing as they have human rights in Fontaine

She is the reincarnation of Mary Ann, who supposedly died during the fight between Narzissenkreuz Ordo and Marechaussee Phantom inside Elynas' dead body. She probably went splat during the explosion and some of her DNA got mixed in with Elynas' blood

My weird theory is that her speculative story is similar to The Little Mermaid, but a bit more fanciful instead of romantic. She was ambitious or motivated enough to learn more about the human race that she gained a hydro vision and over time she began to have human features OR met someone or interacted with something that gave her human features. Again, just a weird theory.

Or if she is another form of melusine, but not born in the same way. Another possibility is that Sigewinne is Elynas' attempt at creating a more humanoid being. We know from the quest that their consciousness persists even after their death, so who's to say that they didn't want to try making a human at any given point?

I think the real reason she looks human is so that players will connect with her more easily and will wish for her if she ends up as a playable character.

Okay, I have a better theory: Hoyoverse wanted to release a Fontaine local animal-like (or whatever melusines are) character, so they made Sigewinne to fit in the melusine category, but looking a little more human just so we could distinguish between the actually playable melusine character and the other melusine NPCs. BTW GREAT VIDEO LMAO I LAUGHED A LOT, got yourself a new sub, Jude!

All Melusine are Elynas's flesh given a new life by a token, the token decides what kind of personality they have. For example Ahes's token was part of the ship Sponsian, which has become a ghost ship, which is why she's so obsessed with the ship and stories of the crew. Topyas's token was part of the Conch Harp, that's why she loves music and can play the Harp. With this it's easy to assume that Sigewinne was born from the token of a human, which is why she is humanlike and is obsessed with humans. The Melusine quest line along with the Narzissenkreuz questline is about the French philosophical debate of Existentialism vs Essentialism. Aristotle once argued that our substance/Ousia is determined by our Essence, which means we are born into what we are meant to be in the first place. But Existentialists argued against that, Sartre stated that Existence precedes Essence "Man first of all exists, encounters himself, surges up in the world-and defines himself afterwards." What it means is that we are free to shape our lives into whatever we want, we are not tied to an initial Essence. Melusine quests talk about a great Existence, Elynas who gave up his life and created the Melusine. However it was the Essence of Elynas, the fact that it was a creature from the Abyss that determined his end, being from the Abyss meant that it was essentially incompatible with Teyvat, poisoning and bringing harm to its inhabitants. Melusine are born from a token, which determines their essence, they seem to be obsessed with the source of their essence, their token, however they are still free to choose how they live their lives. On the Narzissenkreuz side of the story, we learn of multiple individuals who gave up their bodies, their Existence; In the case of Ann who became an Oceanid, split up her Essence into multiple Hydro creatures, each of them owing their Existence to the Essence of Ann. But these creatures seem to be stuck with their Essence, wanting to flow back to the source, Ann, as they are deeply tied to the memories of Ann, particularly her fantasies and seek to live those fantasies. However in the end the small Oceanid Mary-Ann was given the blessing of Ann to live freely away from these fantasies. Are people doomed to follow their essence or are they free to choose their own existence? These questlines are an ongoing debate of Existentialism and Essentialism, we will see what the conclusion is at the end of Fontaine.

Im willing to bet that Seigwinne started as a normal melusine, just like any other. Except developed a certain fixation on humans and their personal well being. But, as melusine hands are not suitable for using complex tools, such as medical equipment, nor are melusines equally appreciated by all people of Fontain, I speculate that she had a miraculous change in physical form due to obtaining her hydro vision. Cisions typically come to those who's desires reach a certain point, or to those in dire need, and sometimes, the visions are accompanied by certain special changes. Such as Diona magically being able to make any drink touched by her hands taste amazing. (Despite her best efforts to combat this) Its not unfathomable to think that her intense desire to help humans resulted in giving her a form that would allow her to perform that task easier.

Neuvilette calls them beautiful creatures. Simple. By the way, they ressemble sea slug with those cute head rhinophore antennae-like-organs, AND THEY HAVE BAT EARS, and weird fin-like tail, some have angel-shaped wings, and we have to understand they are all different, which is EPIC. Man, I want to be a Melusine, being able to work as a detective and see stuff through and through grass, buildings and find invisible elemental lines and things humans and vision users can't normally see.

From a meta standpoint I honestly think the modelers just didn't want to animate or model detailed clothes on a Melusine model. It's honestly fair because it would be a lot of work for possibly just one character. I think it would at least be worth it to do concepts with a custom skintone and keep the feet and hands covered. I think Kirara is a good example of getting creative with the heel limitations of female models. As for the hands I don't think it would be too hard to give Sigewinne bigger gloves. At the end of the day I wish more effort was put in to make something closer to a Melusine model playable.
