Why is My Xiaomi Redmi Battery Draining So Fast?

Ғылым және технология

Today, we faced a challenging issue that is becoming increasingly common in the Redmi Note series devices - an abnormal and rapid battery drainage. My name is Adriana, and together with Leonardo, our trusted technician, we embarked on a diagnostic journey to identify the root cause of this problem.

Upon initial observation, the Redmi Note 11 Pro in question received an adequate and constant power supply of 1.8 amperes. This ruled out the device's charging capability as the root cause of the fast discharge issue. So, we initiated the disassembly process to take a closer look at the motherboard, suspecting that the issue could be more internal.
With a heat gun set to 90°C, we gradually loosened the device's adhesives. Using a suction cup and plastic pry tool, we safely detached the casing to access the internal components. We leveraged a precision electric screwdriver for this intricate task. A powerful yet delicate tool that we have been testing for some time now, which so far, has proven its worth.
Upon removing the inner casing and disconnecting the battery connector, we connected a recycled Xiaomi battery flex cable to the device to inspect power consumption patterns. Utilizing a neat little trick with the battery connectors, we activated the power-saving mode to understand if there was unusual energy consumption.
As suspected, the device, even in standby mode, showed a high consumption rate of 250 milliamperes, a value that should typically oscillate between 2 and 5 milliamperes. This confirmed that the quick battery drain was indeed due to an abnormal power consumption issue.
Further in-depth analysis involved removing and closely examining the motherboard, where we observed an overheating CPU. Thermal camera inspection corroborated our suspicion, indicating a potential malfunction in this circuit. To conclude our diagnostics, we connected the device to a precision laboratory power supply, which indeed indicated the CPU's overheating.
After a detailed visual inspection under the microscope, we noticed tiny "balls" indicative of overheating issues. Despite the option of performing a CPU reballing, we were fully aware that this was only a short-term solution to a likely recurring problem.
This analysis was a testament to our commitment to provide professional insight into common device issues. My colleague Leonardo and I appreciate your time and hope this tutorial helps you understand the intricacies of tackling such battery drain issues in Redmi devices. We look forward to sharing more knowledge and experience with you in future tutorials. Until next time, goodbye!
