    Excellent concise video. I have a woodmaster 5500. This is my 14th season with it and I have experienced most of the issues you discussed. As you said, the best fix is replace that door gasket annually-- it really does make a huge difference. And be sure it's the right size-- I got 3/4" locally once instead of ordering the 1" that I needed. Nope. Brand new and it leaked terribly and boiled constantly. Overheated and burned out my temp probe and electronic panel. Expensive lesson. CHANGE THAT GASKET! I also replace the "flappers" on the fans every 2-3 years, as they lose flexibility and that tiny gap will make it boil. I have run into the solenoids sticking as you said, but also have had the spring between them and the flapper get caught and cause it to stay open. I have called you on occasion and your knowledge has helped me several times, plus you always get the parts I need to me quickly. Thanks.

    Had problems with my outdoor wood burner which is a NCB and it overheated from day one. I change the door seals every year and that sometimes fixed the problem. After contacting you guys and talked about the problems I decided to buy a new pump from you. It was almost $300 but this pump is working great and have not had any problems since. Come to find out the company I bought the boiler from had a cheap pump that was rated for 50 feet. No wonder my water wasn't heating like it should. So after 8 frustrating years and 3 water leaks it is now working like it should. I have learned a lot about these woodburners. the biggest realization about my wood burner is the company will not stand behind it and that's why they are out of business!

    How do you change out the laminated cellinoid and rubber flap. I purchased a home with a wood boiler, that has not been well maintained. What do I do and or who should trouble shoot the system?

    Good video. I have a question nobody can seem to answer. I have had a central boiler 6048 for 11 seasons now. A couple times a winter, if the wind is blowing hard and out of the right direction, I get a reverse draft, where very little smoke comes out the chimney and instead it comes out the damper door inlet. Anything I can do to prevent that?

  • @AltheatsupplyLLC

    You can try another length of chimney pipe to create more draw through the chimney, or sometimes a simple chimney cap helps. It is a problem with the natural draft units. I had a central Boiler and had similar problems.

    Had boiling only under high heat load during coldest weather, but temperature of water exiting the boiler was dropping to 150 F. Figured it was a circulation design problem resulting in hot spot at top of boiler as you indicate in this video. My solution was to plumb a tee and valve into the cold water return to feed a trickle into the fill pipe at the top. As a result I have up-sized my draft fan and can get greater heat through-put for the cold weather with no boiling. As with any solution, I am sure I have introduced new problems, like aerating the water and increasing corrosion, but haven't seen that so far. Any thoughts?

    you're overheating your unit. There is a snap disc on most units that once they go over 190 degrees the trip and won't re-open until 150 degrees or so.

    @@AltheatsupplyLLC what exactly is a snap disc. If you could read my other post in this I didn't want to rewrite it again. But having some creaso problems. I meant to tell you in my other post that my fan is in the back and it has 2 dampers one at the top right below my fan and then it has a shoot about 2 feet long with another damper with nothing hooked on it I don't know how it is supposed to open or close but it is not working should the one at the top have a rubber gasket on it I don't know I have had this stove for 12 or 13yrs If you could read the other one also and thank you I'm just kind of lost on this. Thank you. I'm sorry my stove is a heat master 5500 or maybe a 5000. Thanks

    Thank you for the info. Can having to much water cause water to flow out the top vent? I so i shut it off because I thought the cold weather was done but it wasn't and my girlfriend check the water levels and it was low she added more water but she didn't take in consideration of expansion. So we fired it backup but Then the warm weather came but and hit about 70゚. And there was water coming out the top vent And the water level when you would check it water would shoot out of it. Does it just need some water bleed off

  • @AltheatsupplyLLC

    @AltheatsupplyLLC

    It can simply be expansion of the water. If it keeps coming out, it can be a leak in a plate exchanger. bleeding back into the boiler. Hopefully it is just water expansion. Jeff

    Is there any other way to get soft water 200 gal amount for filling it up ? I’ve had pump cartridges going out far faster than they should. They either look ok or have a scum coating on impeller.

    You might need to replace pump, not enough circulation in the boiler. Creosote attaches to cold surfaces.

    I have my aquastat set to 180, but my temp probe says my water temp is about 150ish.. fan comes on, but only until the temp is at 160ish.. could this be a bad aquastat, or could the temp probe be bad? (if I turn the aquastat 10 200, then the temp probe says I'm at 165ish)
