    Grat video very informative and helpful. I have recently lost my once thriving Hoya Wayetii. The leaves started dropping and then I noticed the stems were brown and drying up I thought it need more water but it didn’t help. A video on care and problems associated with this particular Hoya would be very helpful. Thanks🍀

    I would love to see a video about H. Subquintuplinervis and H. Pachyclada. I recently purchased a H. Pachyclada and just fell in love with everything about it. I tried to do some research and started to get confused. Some people are treating Subquintuplinervis and Pachyclada as the same while others say they're different. I noticed that you had several varieties and would love to know more about them. Like, what are the different types of variegation that can be found on these plants and why do some have fuzzy leaves while others are shiny (even though they seem to be sold under the same name)

    Ooh, it can definitely get confusing with all of the changing names. That is a great idea! I will definitely add this one to the list, thank you for your request! 😁 The short answer without going into depth, they are synonymous. But due to the varieties out there, like you mentioned, it is good to keep the former name in parenthesis.

    Oh thank you!!! this is so helpful. I have a fiddle leaf fig which is doing well except all the new leaves emerge with little red spots. I researched and read about edema and that it was likely the capillaries bursting due to "inconsistent watering" ..Well I interpreted that to mean too much water so I cut back the amount and frequency of watering. LOL I never thought about shrinking cells.. Thank you! I am going to water my fiddle tomorrow morning 🪴

    This was an incredibly helpful video. Thank you! Topic Idea - Is there an easy way to tell how much light a hoya needs? Most information I am finding puts Hoyas under same general umbrella of care. It is through your posts on IG that I am learning not all Hoyas have same lighting needs.

  • @unsolicitedplanttalks

    Great suggestion! Thank you for the feedback. Typically, when I write the care for the Hoyas I post, I base it off of not only the origin of the plant (I try to do as much research as I can about their natural environment, but sometimes they just don't have much info online) and my own experience. If I am unsure what environment is best for them, I grow 2 plants in different lighting situation so I can give better suggestion. Otherwise, very few fall under the "unusual" environment category. Most will thrive under shaded but well lit environment, good amount of humidity, and warm temperature. :) I hope this helps!

  • @unsolicitedplanttalks

    @unsolicitedplanttalks

    9 ай бұрын

    Great question! I would say that you can look for patterns in the markings, consistency in shape and size would be an indicator. Also looking at the overall health of the plant, leaves may be coming out funky or the plant may just be declining in general with dying leaves and wilting. The patterns is a dead giveaway when I am assessing spots 👌

    Thank you for this great Hoya lesson. I have noticed on my Hoya lacunosa and my Australis Lisa that some leaves tend to be thinner than other leaves on the same plant. Is this something to do with how I care for the plant or is it something that happens with Hoyas? My Pubicalyx does not seem to have the same problem.

  • @unsolicitedplanttalks

    @unsolicitedplanttalks

    Good question! Typically, if your Hoya is healthy but the leaves are thin, it means it is growing in a little too shaded environment. It's not necessarily bad so it's just a preference. You can give it more light to thicken the leaves a bit more but no direct light as they might burn! I hope this helps

    Wow, I never ever thought of watering my hoyas so often. Other channels I saw previously made me think to treat them like cacti. I've lost a couple of separate stems, but really glad I haven't seen the spots! Would slowly over time increasing the frequency help to avoid edema?? -- oh good to know you're in California, I'm in Vancouver, Canada, so yeah, I wouldn't need to water 2-3 times a week. I have increased my watering from every 2 months (def. too long) to twice a month.

  • @unsolicitedplanttalks

    @unsolicitedplanttalks

    It depends on your mix! If your mix is soil based or something that holds more moisture than coco husk, you can go longer without watering your plants :) But every 2 months is definitely way too long :)

    Thank you so much for your videos, been loving them☺️. I am also noticing my villosa, mathilde, callistophylla and nui all gave me the tiniest leaf when they were getting high-mid light. I moved my nui and villosa to lower light and I finally am getting regular sized leaf. Similarly my lacunosa no id and lacunosa cikidian java are both in pon, same shelf n grow light however cikidian java is starting to get smaller leaf despite it climbing on a trellis and my no id is giving me long leaf on trellis. Why is this happening since I loved cikidian’s long leaf😬 Does high light influence leaf on some hoyas?

  • @unsolicitedplanttalks
