I agree with part of the premise, in that Mexico was quite strong. And corruption is a real issue (however let's not pretend the U.S. or Spain don't have corruption on equal footing as Mexico). The one thing ignored is that the U.S. continues to interfere in Mexico whether it's the intelligence agencies, state dept., or private companies. If you say this isn't the case, then you are not very well informed. This is taking place in real time now with the current opposition presidential candidate partly funded by the U.S. And many trade and economic issues companies and industries in the U.S. continue to press on. The U.S. invaded Mexico no less than 3 times between 1821-1921, and armed opposition groups whose interests aligned with Washington's. Today this continues, both in front and behind the scenes. The A, TF losing weapons in Mexico was no accident. For Mexico to truly flourish, the U.S. needs to back of. And seeing what Russia and China are trying to do, the U.S. needs all the allies it can get.

The Spanish Empire left Mexico in 1821 bruh. The real reasons why it isn’t a global power today is due to modern and contemporary problems such as cartels, drugs, political instability, poor quality of life, less economic opportunity, and corruption. Not only that but a major contributor as well is brain drain: the phenomenon in which there’s emigration of highly skilled, highly trained, highly competent, and highly educated individuals from the country. In order for them to reestablish the Mexican Empire and position themselves as a global power, they should rid of the cartels, try to solve their drug and corruption epidemic, increase quality of life and stabilize the economy. By solving these problems, it would also rid of the need to emigrate out of the country thus also lessening brain drain. But it’s easier said than done unfortunately.

The only 2 ways to get to Mexico by land are by the tiny, densely forested route from South America, and through the U.S., the strongest country in the world and an incredible Mexican ally. All of this essentially makes Mexico invincible. The mountainous terrain is also a weakness, and Mexico really doesn't need it for geographical defense, as it is already so well defended, but, all in all, Mexico has some pretty great geography.

There's a lot of big misconceptions Americans (and globally really) continue to have about Mexicans, Mexico, and its history. Mexico wasn't always considered "poor". During the colonial period when it was known as the viceroyalty of New Spain, Mexico was in a very powerful position. It produced most of the silver going to Spain (note Mexico and Peru/Bolivia produced 80% of the world's silver at this time). It funded the rebuilding of the royal palace in Madrid when it burned down. The world's first truly global reserve currency was the Spanish piece of eight, traded from Europe to Asia, Africa, Australia, North and South America. It was made of the silver mostly extracted in Mexico and much of it was also minted in Mexico City. They used this to trade with China, Japan, etc., as Mexico was the nexus point for trade and conquest of Asia for the Spanish Empire. Mexico City administered the Phillipines for Spain. The currency was also used in the British North American colonies, and why after they gained independence from Britain, they borrowed the $$ sign from the Spanish/Mexican currency for the dollar. Note too that when it is said France and Spain helped the U.S. colonies gain independence, the military help from Spain largely came from New Spain (aka Mexico), since they administered the territories bordering the U.S. colonies. They helped drive off the British naval forces from the southern colonies. Mexico or New Spain was more powerful, militarily, economically, culturally than the British colonies put together were. Mexico had universities and printing presses while the future Harvard was still forest. It even had an early research center in the Royal College of Mines in Mexico City where the element Vanadium was discovered. And when Alexander von Humboldt traveled through Mexico City he remarked that the overall quality of life was higher in Mexico (or New Spain), than it was in much of Europe, particularly compared to northern and eastern Europe at the time (note most of Europe was still illiterate at the time). Mexico or New Spain was in such a well off position that when Napoleon invaded Spain, King Carlos of Spain decided to move his court to Mexico City. In much the same way the Portuguese royal family decided to move his court from Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. However unlike the Portuguese crown, the king of Spain was stopped from moving to Mexico City by his son helping cause an uprising--and they were both captured by Napoleon. Mexico or New Spain at the time was about as big as Brazil, where it basically held over half of North America (at one point stretching from Alaska to southern Central America, just shy of Panama). If Mexico had remained as large as it was during its independence, its probable that today it would have had an economy larger than Brazil's, and likely larger than Italy's. But the U.S. waged war and invasion on Mexican territories when Mexico was particularly weak, so recently after its independence. It was still sorting its governance systems and institutions, and rebuilding its economy. And the U.S. industrialized and continued to interfere in Mexican affairs invading the country no less than 3 times from 1821-1921, and sending arms to opposition groups whose interests better aligned with Washington. And the intelligence agencies continue to interfere. Narc, os btw didn't arise on their own. Its been a long game strategy for the U.S.

I can't believe that there are people out there who seriously believe that the southwestern states would be 'better off' if they had stayed under Mexico. Mexico is not weak, unfortunately for us, we have suffered invasions since our country was build just to steal the resources and land. Our independence only last 15 years, then the Americans knowing we didn't have soldiers, invade us and stole half of our land and the world knows that cause it wasn't a war but an invasión, then the French Army with Napoleón wanted to take the rest of México and put their government to go north and attack the United States. Then the British came and stole land from us, what now is Belize. All a bunch of opportunistic thiefs. México still standing and we will take revenge the best way soon until we are satisfied. We didn't deserved all this. Now in modern times once the corruption is eradicated, Mexico soon would be an Elite country. I seen people joking, laughing right now but you would see.

if you really, really read Mexico’s history you will realize that the country is actually doing pretty well against all odds, tragedies and problems that are extremely difficult to solve. As example, we beat the best army in the world (France) at a time where US was having its civil war, preventing France from supporting the Confederates and probably splitting the US in two, maybe more if France decided to attack the Union.

Nothing to do with the real reassons why Mexico is weak, First, Mexico has been a Neutral Country since it’s independence pretty much as Switzerland, that’s why Mexico has never extend an influence outside of not just culture. Second, Mexico back in the they wasn’t a colony, not the type of colony known to others, it was a Viceroyalty = State or province of the Hispanic Monarchy, the extraction of gold and other resources wasn’t big, the taxes were and remain always the same 1/5 of the production of the year. It lasted until 1821. Also other regions of the viceroyalty less populated got less taxes or special treatment tax free. So it wasn’t a problem the fact they paid Taxes. The viceroyalty had to maintain their own institutions, services, military, etc. And even if that was the reason, it’s just stupid to say that for about more than 2 centuries mexico hadn’t a chance. And it had. Third, the location of the population doesn’t mean anything, Canada population it’s all across the US border, would you judge them couse no one lives in Baffin Island or the don’t wanna move to Yucon? And Fourth, the lost of territory yes that’s a valid reason, but as I just said more than a century has passed since that, and at the time those territories were meant nothing to the Economy as they were less populated and had less infrastructure.

Mexico is on its way! It currently has more engineering graduates than the US, and is firmly a G20 and OECD member country. I’d say let them build a wall, and all of Latin America can trade and ally with Europe, etc. This is how it would have been already if the US did not meddle in internal affairs and help bring down the Second Mexican Empire in the 19th century. Only 20 years after stealing half its territory! Greetings to Germany and New Zealand!! 🇳🇿🇲🇽 🇩🇪

@@aniketghadage5981 I'm being FR, btw. As a pure American. (I think, anyway, lol.) Mexico is a huge U.S. trading partner, the 2 countries are working together to stopp illegal immigrantion and drug trade from South America, other, crime ans stuff like that. Mexico also reaffirmed the U.S. dollar as the world's reserve currency. And so whilst some people thought the country would eventually join BRICS, steering it away from the U.S., this action by Mexico effectively deconfirms that rumor. For all these reasons and more, Mexico and the U.S. are great allies.

As a Mexican I tell everyone that corruption here in Mexico is very abundant but organized crime is what has ended us currently living in Mexico is beautiful In addition to the fact that our culture is very good, if one day you visit Mexico, I recommend that you Americans go to Tlaxcala in February, you will not regret it. If you go to that carnival it is the best thing you can see and enjoy but you can only see it in February.

Why?, simple: Because we don’t want to get rich or powerful if that means to betray, invade, declare war and destroy other cultures, countries, and people in general, that’s why people here are happy most of the time despite all our national problems, people (not the police or government) are ready to help any other stranger people just because if are in trouble, because we know are things more important than be rich or powerful, but this is a conversation all of you aren’t ready to get into…
