There is an homage to our greatest cricketer in the episode. Also, the whole episode is a flashback 😘 It's future Bandit taking about it all once Rusty has grown up and made it to the top.

The final scene has some subtleties non-Australians may not pick up on. Rusty is not just a professional cricketer, he goes out to bat wearing a white uniform and green helmet, both with the Australian coat of arms: Rusty is batting for Australia in a Test Match. This is the dream of many Australian children growing up. In fact, as he walking out alone means he is not an opening batsmen and may well be batting at three, the player who comes in when one of the openers is dismissed. The place usually reserved for the best player in the team.

Another interesting tidbit... In the 'Behind Bluey' podcast episode re the making of 'Cricket', the creators reveal that they modelled Rusty's batting (specifically his pull shot) on Steve Smith's batting. Tiny's bowling was modelled on the former fast bowler Brett Lee. The level of detail the Bluey team puts into the animation is amazing...

I really liked how Rusty's brother gave us a view of what it's like having siblings with a bigger age gap than Bluey and Bingo (Fairy Tale did this too, but to a lesser extent). The Heeler sisters are attached at the hip, and while you can see that Rusty and Digger clearly have a loving relationship and enjoy spending time together, they also have their own lives and friend groups who play by different rules like how the older kids use real hard-hitting cricket balls. And that moment where Digger looks back at Rusty limping back to the house really stuck out to me for some reason. Digger does show visible concern but he also lets Rusty walk on his own, either because he trusts that his little brother is okay enough to walk back home unaided or that Rusty told him he wanted to tough it out and Digger is respecting his desire for independence while still keeping a watchful eye. It's a small moment, but also a very relatable one if you have siblings way older than you like I do.

I love a good representation. Me and my siblings are like that, with my closest brother having a 10 year gap with me. You can imagine the older siblings. We're not all that close, I even felt like an only child. Half of us had to do and figure out stuff on our own.

I am the older brother, you won’t understand it until you either get a little brother or a son, but when you are the first child like I was then you are assured to be the kid with the bumpiest road, but that leaves you with experience and wisdom, yet we are still an idiot, so instead of words actions become a language, we know what you can and cannot do, we know what scares you and what makes you happy, we ain’t going to give you the answers, because sometimes even when you do it doesn’t work. Sometimes I feel like I’m a little rough to my little brothers, but they have become sharper and more ready, so even if I know I annoy them sometimes, I know they will thank me one day, I promised myself to not let any of these two idiots to do the same mistakes i did, and that is something I plan to do, being 20 or 80 years old. And that, that is enough for me. Sorry for the long post, but wanted to express a little bit how it feels to be the older brother in that situation.

I thought I recognized him, I grew up with The Wiggles but to also learn he was an infantryman makes me respect him even more!

I asked my Aussie friend what Rusty’s dad was probably doing - if there’s someone they’re particularly on guard against, or if it’s just keeping an army sharp. After I described the letter where the weather was mentioned as “boiling”, my friend went “…oh crap, he’s in Afghanistan. I was not expecting that from the square dog show.”

i just binged the show and early on they make references that make it seem like humans existed at some point, and ive seen theories attempting to explain the odd things they say. that they would also be having a war, presumably for the oil, is crazy but that gets put aside later with the introduction of socks and the focus on how they no longer reproduce by having litters, but one at a time like humans, and how the 'primitive' dog instincts manifest when young but most are trained out by adulthood. the world building is fascinating

A bit off topic, but a small detail I noticed was during the chase scene, when Rusty’s mother chasing dusty, rusty and digger, digger hops the big fense, rusty hops the front fence, and dusty runs through the open gates. Not only showing the different ages of the siblings but also how great minds think alike 😅

I like it because it's almost like a little sibling tradition. You can picture Rusty picking it up from Digger by watching him or being told "here's the quickest way to get away from angry Mom", and then passing that knowledge down to Dusty.

I think Rusty is my favourite character in Bluey! E’s so kind, patient and determined. His friendship with Jack is delightful, he’s a great big brother and I like how his dad isn’t the stereotypical macho, emotionless military man.

That's the words I was trying to find a moment ago with military stereotypes. Drives me crazy. While my dad is a very all American manly man, he still wears his heart on his sleeve. He always has a warm smile and laugh. Always patient. Never got mad at me for being difficult at times when we didn't know I had autism.

I don’t like the phrase ‘Toxic Masculinity’ but I do like the phrase Conventional Masculinity, and that fits Rusty and his dad well. That’s one of the things I like about Rusty and his Dad, they’re both Conventionally Masculine without that being shown as a bad thing, and with that and shows like The Great North I’m just glad cartoon Men are starting to show positive sides of Conventional Masculinity.

I love Rusty because I was worried they would make him the meanie bully ‘boys will be boys’ type and they easily could have done that but they instead made him a perfect role model for boys in an encouraging way, same with his father. Also the episode teaches the universal themes of Sportsmanship and Perseverance, great lessons for boys and people in general.

this episode has become my favourite, rusty's family dynamic is so beautiful to watch, and it's nice to see that after the 'army' episode his friendship with jack has only grown! and the end of the episode showing the adult rusty pursuing a career in something that for him was just a hobby was so beautiful! :))

*i love Rusty.* he's so good natured. he doesn't discriminate between male and female friends. he's an excellent role model and support system for Jack. he gets along equally well with kids and adults. he's tender hearted and will make a great husband and dad if the cartoon ever take us there in the future. (i think he'll marry Indy...they already make a great couple, with their little one named Polly.) P.S. i haven't seen any of the new shows, except for excerpts here. i need to get busy!

There’s a 100% chance someone else has said this, but Rusty’s older brother being named ‘Digger’ is a reference to their dad being in the Army, with soldiers in the Australian Army being historically called ‘Diggers’ (and probably a clever pun about dogs digging holes).

Also, it is impossible for me to watch this episode and not cry.

At the end of his dads letter from the army he says “and take care of your little sister for me”, then Rusty gives his sister the easy catch at the end of the game to make her happy 😊 made a grown man cry

Rusty car pooling with Jack is just too precious

One thing I love about this show is that when they give us a look at the future, they're also giving us a really nice bit of extra pay off. There's something really comforting about seeing how things ultimately play out and I'm glad that they only do it once in a while so it keeps its emotional weight.

omg you’re right! as far as I know the only times we get a glimpse of the characters future is 1. When Bluey reunites with Jean 2. Seeing Bingo grow up with Lila and 3. Rusty as a grown cricket player I’m glad they keep it sparse to make those times more special but I’d love to see more

i dont see many people bring it up, but rustys dad is played by the blue wiggle anthony, from the wiggles! i recognised him immediately, made this episode even more special

The reason why this episode hits so hard is the bait-and-switch, and the fact that the switch was hidden in clear sight all along. You think you're getting a message of the value of perseverance, but at the very end, you're drawn into an emotional sucker punch with a message of the value of family... and as soon as you realise what's happened, you realise it's been breadcrumbed throughout the episode.

It's interesting that was the lesson you took away from it. The core message that I took away from the episode was how important sports are. They are an avenue to teach you life lessons, they are a way to build a child's self-esteem, they are a way for siblings to bond, they are also a way for younger siblings to bond with a friend group of their sibling's older friends. Sports teach you to learn how to deal with failure and they are an avenue for a young boy to connect with his father. It's much easier for a father to communicate life lessons through analogies that they know their children will understand.

As an Aussie, the attention to detail and references to players such as Steve Smith and Don Bradman are great

There is a nice little moment where Rusty is hitting the ball against the side of his house. This is a reference to Australian cricketer Sir Don Bradman who is arguably the greatest Batsman to ever live. He would practice as a teen by hitting a ball against the siding of his house to practise his cuts and hits

It's hard to explain The Don to a non-cricket person. He was basically a 10/10 (well... a 99.94 batting average, just 0.06 short of perfection). The next best to him is more or less 6/10 or even 5.5/10 (55 to 60 batting averages). And they are the absolute all time legends and superstars of the sport. His average was almost twice as good as every one of them.. Sure, Donald Bradman never had to play in places like India or Pakistan where it would've been more challenging, but the numbers speak for themselves.

I didn't get emotional on my first watch of Cricket, but the past little bit I've been sitting paralyzed with fears. Post graduation is requiring me to make the next big steps to my career, but I've only been so unsure about taking those steps and reaching what I've always wanted. Cricket and this video was a really nice and gentle reminder to keep my eye on the ball and give it a swing. ❤ Needed to hear that, and I'm sure so many kids and people out there needed it, too.

May I also recommend the episode Barky Boats? A couple of Digger’s friends (Mia and Captain) debut in that episode and it has them talk about being nervous about having to take the next big step with going to secondary school. I’m sure things will be okay for you. You’ve got this!

As an Australian who grew up with backyard cricket, there's so much in this episode that is a pretty universal experience in growing up with the game: - The genuine fear of playing with a Real Cricket Ball for the first time - The time-honoured tradition of hitting the little kid a catch - Every backyard having no-hit zones (mine was the pond at the bottom of the yard) - Six and out I'm really glad that this episode still resonated with the Yanks - despite not invoking the same sense of nostalgia!

As an American that loves watching cricket. I've always wondered what growing up actually playing the game is like for kids. I know what playing baseball, football, or basketball in the yard or driveway is like, but I was always curious how someone trains it on their own. What is a "six and out"? Is it just that everyone gets an over to try and score as many runs as they can before you trade sides? Also is the cherry red ball exclusively reserved for Test matches, or do kids also get a chance to swing at it?

@@loganleroy8622 If you hit a six say into the neighbours yard or where ever you get 6 runs but you're out and you have to go get the ball back. Most kids don't play with a real red cricket ball, they have kids versions that are softer and lighter. Red is used during the day, white and night but now for Test Matches that play into the evening they use a pink ball, not very common.

@@loganleroy8622Usually until someone gets you out but it's good form to retire (aka like declaring in Test Cricket) on a score to give someone else a turn. Usually the person who gets the batsman out gets to bat but it varies.

maybe this is a minor point but he was teaching his sister how to catch the ball because she was fielding, which is a part of the game and means she was actually playing. The way you described it made it sound like she was just a spectator and he was telling her how to catch so she doesn't get hit in the face or something.

Pretty sure Rusty’s dads voice is Anthony from the Wiggles. Anyone who grew up with the Wiggles didn’t have a hope of keeping it together when we heard him speak. Anthony was my favourite as a little girl and I just sobbed and sobbed.

Anthony from the Wriggles did serve for three years in the Australian Army.

As an Aussie, and not a particularly sporty one, I can’t overstate how much cricket was a part of our childhoods in the 80s & 90s. So this is very nostalgic for us- even those of us who could only look on at the boys (because back then, it was the boys) who were the cricket superstars and practiced constantly. But even terribly uncool kids like me were usually welcomed into the playground cricket games during lunchtime break. (In Australia, school lunch breaks are about an hour long.) A final thing from my Aussie cricket playing husband (well, back when he was a kid!), it’s a bowl, not a pitch. 😉 And never do what I did and call it a throw! Always a a bowl.

As a verb, yeah it’s “bowl”. As a reference to a particular part of the game, it’s a “ball”. As in, there’s one ball left in this over.

So I just came across Bluey and the thing I really love about this series is that it doesn't talk down to kids. It reminds me a lot of Mister Roger's neighborhood especially with how it presents really hard topics that we all face

Hard topics presented soft enough for kids to pick up on and learn from, yet still hard enough for older folks to say 'Hoo boy, I feel that.' It's quintessentially one of the best kids show of all time.

This episode was so sweet, rusty really breaks the stereotype of the sexist, macho jock/military kid (i knew quite a few as a child). I love that he hit the easy shot to dusty and that she was the only person to get him out after all the grown men couldn't I do wonder though, if rusty was usually going home from school with jack, does that mean that his mom was usually at work so she couldnt pick him up? And if thats the case, why was he so adamant that dads work and moms stay at home when he and indy were playing mums and dads? Maybe she wasnt working for a wage at the time, idk 🤷‍♀️

He could have been going to Jack’s for a play date often since they are besties, and then there is how he does have a little sister and much older brother who might go to schools that are a bit of a distance from his, so the arrangement is for him to go with Jack and his family so he’s not waiting at the school for an hour for her to pick him up or something like that.

My guess is that she’s probably rotating school events, chores and what not. Dusty looks old enough to start kindergarten so between the three of them that’s a lot of school events especially when it comes to early years. On top of that Digger looks to be the same age as Mia which based on what Mia said about going to big school (high school) she’s likely looking at high schools to see what one to send him too which takes time. So it makes sense that Dusty would spend a lot of time at Jack’s rather than stay at school later as she’s busy. Work wise she does likely stay home but probably does charity work or helps with school events but that’s just speculation based on what I hear a lot of SAHMs do.

I was a military kid with a STAHM and I will say when my dad was deployed there often were days I would go home with a friend because of different responsibilities with my siblings (I also had an autistic brother who had multiple therapies a week) or simply needing a time to run an errand or to an appointment that she couldn’t do during school hours. You have to think of it being like a single parent while the other is deployed. Some extra help and support is just needed!

Rusty is actually one of my favorite characters in Bluey, and this was definitely one of my favorite episodes. That last moment with him and his sister was the best ❤

Jack has a lot of character development for only being in 4 eps. I love him too. Reminds me of my little neurodivergent self as a kid (I also went to a Waldorf school lol). And I love rusty because he doesn't let that stop him from befriending Jack, not even for a moment. 😁 Unrelated, but I love how we know Pat's name but we all call him Lucky's Dad.

Rusty was already my favorite character outside of Bluey's family, but this episode cemented it. I watched it 3 times the Monday after it aired and I think I teared up every single time. Either when it shows him and his family w/ his Dad playing Beach Cricket and Bandit says "He just loves cricket" or the end where he fist bumps his future self heading out to bat on the pitch. Just a perfect episode, man.

I think that's one of the things that people who aren't athletes, or never actually do a sport competitively beyond high school, struggle to understand. If you are really good at a sport, it provides you with such a sense of comfort. No matter what else is going on in your life, there's an area where you can go where everything is in your control. It's such a comforting thing and the more time you put into the sport, the better results you can achieve. It's a very addictive cycle.

The darn ending... Literally can't help get teary eyed every. single. time.

I know I’ve said this before, but your incorporation of AJR songs into the intros makes me tear up. Two of my favourite things ever being intertwined, (AJR and Bluey) makes me tear up every time

The music in this entire episode is absolute perfection, watch the episode again and just pay attention to how it matches the moods perfectly and especially for the last 30 seconds when Rusty gives his sister a catch into him walking off and it transitioning into his adult self walking onto the pitch as they touch gloves. (small detail the pitch adult Rusty walks onto really looks like the gabba which is a professional cricket ground in Brisbane, Australia)

Just when I thought this show hit me enough with Jack, they have to have his best friend add to it. And not just being close to my military dad. In Elementary school I was trying to hard to actually participate in my class playing basketball even though I'm not very athletic. I almost got the ball but it somehow slipped right between my hands and slammed into my head. I had the bad luck that every time I tried after that, I'd accidentally get hurt. Now I'm not going to pretend I became an epic player but I understand the fear of being hit again. And I can only imagine how much more a cricket ball hurts. This. This makes that scene so important. It not just shows kids it's okay to be scared after something like that happens to you but also to not let it stop you from something you love. I love that about this show. It has so many times where it shows kids it's okay to express what is considered a negative emotion as long as you don't let it stop what you want to do. I can't wait to see these two best friends in action again. I might have actually gotten a little overstimulated myself seeing Jack treated as just a normal kid. I really can't stress enough how amazing he is when most representation in media treats the disorders as super geniuses or unable to function. Jack is such a big deal. Not to try and steal the spotlight from his best friend that helped tell that story that Jack just needed someone to see he's not broken.

I’m in tears 😭 what a phenomenal episode from how Rusty is with his friends and sister to overcoming challenges and eventually growing as a professional, showing how hard at times yet rewarding it is to follow your joy ♥️ I feel that as a musician and author when I reflect on little me writing stories from when I could first read and write and learning my first instrument. Now I give little me a high five like that and say proudly - we’re a published author and prolific songwriter/banjo player! It took years of practice and challenges but here we are! ✨ 😭

Trivia: Rusty's dad was voiced by Anthony Field who was ina band called the Cockroaches, studied early childhood education, joined the Military and loved Cricket with a passion. He is of course most famous for creating the Wiggles and being the original Blue Wiggle.

Having been a brat, this episode destroyed me. Brought a lot of stuff back to me and makes me want to say a lot to my dad that I wish I could. Having sat through it, my heart goes out to whoever wrote this story, because they did it right, and the only way they could’ve done it is to have lived it.

I have adhd (diagnosed) and Jack is pretty much my favorite character 1) just because I love him but 2) he’s such good representation. It has a special place in my heart and also especially because his “hyperfixation” or “special interest” with space, like me, an aspiring astrophysicist. (Also I believed it’s confirmed to be adhd, not autism)

As an Indian who's only experice of this game is watching it on TV or playing it with my cousins, I think a lot of the things are similar (Ive played cricket on my terrace btw) • Using up too many balls cause half of them went helter skelter. • Somine getting hit by the ball • That _feeling_ of outing someone or cathi g a ball for the first time • Sixer • Self practice (?) • "No hit zone", which was for me either the neighbour's terrace, cause then we would tresspass over to get it back, or to the dump or empty ground behind my cousin's house Oh well it was still fun haha

I had an extremely rough day at work. One of my worst days in years. I wanted some comfort so I opted to watch one of the new bluey episodes, and it happened to be this one. Literally the perfect episode for that day. Rustys dads speech near the end resonated with me perfectly. It was everything I needed.

I really loved hearing that buddy, somedays are so hard and it’s the little things that always make things better 💙

(Not about this episode) It's so interesting to watch Bluey as a 13yo girl. On one hand it makes me feel like I'm back in 1st grade. Since watching it for the first time, I've been getting this really happy feeling when I look at nature or creative things (like Bingo with the leaf bug). It's hard to explain, but it's just this tiny little feeling of happiness and playfulness. But on the other hand, it makes me want to be a mother. Just seeing Bingo and Bluey play makes me so happy 😫 Parenting like Bandit and Chilli looks incredible overall. But I think mostly I want parents like that. Especially with my parents divorced and my dad not being around much. (This sounds so dramatic- It really isn't that deep) My mother is great, yes, but a father like Bandit wouldn't hurt, right? Idk how to explain this but Bluey makes me feel so many different ways at the same time and just otihrhwvsvkfkev

I know you said you'd mention the little details in a coming video, but I just love that Tiny claps for Rusty when he hits the ball.

I love that Tiny has a sub-continental accent - Cricket is huge in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri-Lanka.

This episode hits so incredibly hard for me! As someone whose dad is not only in the military, but also as someone who has two younger siblings, it feels like I’m watching some alternate version of my life! XD but I’m really glad to see the type of bond I formed with my siblings due to the hardships when our dad is deployed in the show. Bluey is truly spectacular :’)

I love Bluey episodes that show the home life of the other side characters, I love seeing the difference in family dynamics and how each character interacts with their families. 💕

I'm really happy everyone is loving this episode and maybe it's because I'm an indoor kid but I just don't get the full appeal. It'll never outdo Sleepytime and Flat Pack for me haha. I do appreciate it though. That said I still teared up a little. Especially hearing how much it means to others.

I love it when they show us how what the children experience is important to shape their future. Like this episode or when they show us Bingo and Lila being still friends after years have passed

I do have to say that been from Argentina (soccer land) this episode its a GREAT INTRODUCTION to cricket. Even if you are not familiar with the rules.

Not everyone will get it but the fact that you have 100 Bad Days by AJR playing at the beginning of this is just an absolutely genius choice for music. Got me tearing up a little bit already.

I loved this episode, Rusty is a amazing older brother and the ending scene was amazing, I hope there will be more episodes through other characters perspectives (And maybe more for Rust or Mckenzie ((def spelled wrong) and Jack).

For me this was close to perfect. It's the most densely packed episode in terms to references and subtle nuances and undercurrents. It's fine if some people dont get it because nobody can tell you how to think or feel but for those of us who did it truly feels like a work of art in every sense of the word.

cricket episode is the "save the best for last." is not the cherry on top but is the best.

My brother is a cricket fanatic and he absolutely adored this episode

Thanks for the great analysis, I don't normally watch Bluey, but as a club cricketer I heard about this episode on the grape vine. I've now watched and enjoyed it a fair few times, hard to not feel sentimental, and it reminds me a lot of my own childhood backyard cricket experience.

This episode is about perseverance and, also, being a good friend and brother.

Both brothers clearly try to do that too. Digger lets Rusty play with his friends, warns him they wont go easy on him, never looks down on him and possibly is the one who told his dad about him struggling with fast bowling (hard to see who else would know - other than maybe his Mum if Digger told her).

If i haven't said it before ill say it now, thank you for keeping my love for this show alive, not that the show couldn't do that on its own. I love your videos and watching them gets me emotional just like the episodes do. Thanks for everything

I realized on rewatch that in the episode The Beach S1E26 we see Bluey walking past the remnants of a cricket game someone was playing. Cricket makes me believe it was Rusty and his family

Bluey S3c has been nothing but great and this episode probably topped all of them. I'm split between this and Dragon but Cricket is nothing short of excellent. An easy Top 10 episode, maybe even Top 5!

The first time I got introduced to Rusty, Rusty instantly reminded of other brave heroes like Mao Mao (from Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart), Rainbow Dash (from My Little Pony). The character "Rusty" is the key reason why I liked this episode overall all because of his bravery, courage and perserverance. The sentence "Finding success is often thinking about what scares them the most and just do them anyway" is what the episode "Cricket" is all about.

The eps of Bluey that nearly make me cry [and I'm a 52 YO Man] are the endings of Zoo and Rug Island, I think they get to me + I love the show so much because I never had very good parenting as a kid and Bluey is like the kind I WISHED I had [Without being all cartoony sickly like the Care Bears or something like that]

@@kumachan9311 Care Bears actually has some pretty dark plot lines even back in the 80’s. The first Care Bears movie was literally about children who hate the world because their parents left them. And this one boy works as an assistant to a magician who stumbles across what can only be described as a possessed demonic book. The Care Bears movie is darker than most people remember because the songs make it sound happier than the movie is.

@@princesspikachu3915Yeah. That evil spirit still gives me heebie-jeebies. My young niece wants to watch it but I can only show her the songs for the moment because the last thing we need is that little one having nightmares about the spirit of the book. The second movie was also pretty dark, even if it started mostly focusing on the Care Bear Family as babies. I mean, they had a girl practically petrified in much the same way Ash was in the first Pokémon movie, only instead of being revived by tears, she was revived by everyone saying how much they care, especially the reformed villain.

You using the intrusmental to "100 Bad Days" from AJR during the intro literally made me kind of emotional. That was an amazing song choice for this episode and Rusty. Both the instrumental and the actual song really fits it.

I *adore* Rusty. He is so special to me because my dad was in the military, too, when I was growing up.

This video is literally my childhood. I played cricket all the time, and my uncle is always out in the military. Brought tears to my eyes 😢

I like to think that the ending with Rusty coming out to bat is actually the present tense in terms of Bandit telling the story. Perhaps the Heeler family are sitting around in the future watching Rusty's test debut. While they are excitedly waiting for Rusty to come out and bat, Bandit takes the opportunity to recount this special moment and how he grew into the great player he now is.

This is the best episode. It lives rent-free in my brain. It is so relatable and so damn perfect.

Another detail worth mentioning: when Rusty's dad comes home, he's wearing a green beret, the beret of the Australian Commando Regiment, meaning he's in the special forces, ie the best of the best; while they're not exactly the same colour, Australian test cricketers wear the famous 'Baggy Green' cap, which is also a dark green. And again, Australian test cricketers are considered the best of the best in terms of cricket players. So both Rusty and his dad reached the absolute pinnacle of their respective careers, both through sheer grit and determination.

Another interesting subtlety is that Rusty's older brother is named Digger, which isn't so much a reference to what dogs do, "Digger" is a colloquial name for an Australian Army soldier. So another reference to Rusty's (and Digger's) dad.

Close but not quite. There are two colours of Green berets in the Army, Rustys' Dad is wearing the green of 6RAR based in Brisbane where Bluey takes place. Fun fact - the mascot of 6RAR is a Blue Heeler.

The little sister part made my hubby tear up. He came upstairs...just tears in his eyes because Rusty batted his little sis that ball for her to catch.

Red Rover is a free for all school yard game originally involving cricket balls (which are like rocks), which were banned in favour of tennis balls, and which unfortunately was banned altogether by I suppose teachers who didn't want to bother with the fallout.

The final scene I literally stood up from the couch and just clapped non stop because rusty resonated with me and the saying that I live by. Hard work beats talent because talent doesn't work as hard and if something is important to you you'll find a way if not you'll find an excuse

I love how even in an episode as recent as this one, Pat still gets called "Lucky's Dad" by some. I swear to god there's going to be a Bluey movie and it's going to be about Lucky and Pat and somewhere near the end Pat will say he doesn't mind being called that because he's proud to be Lucky's Dad.

I only just started appreciating cricket as i rolled into my late 20's, but this episode strikes such a nerve with me, im 24 seconds in and already blinking a bit too much 😂

As an Aussie, I thought the dad was FIFO (Fly-In-Fly-Out, for mining, where workers can be gone for a month at most at a time) so when it was revealed he was actually deployed? Oof, And that comforting, familiar voice? TEARS. I also thought it was only fitting his great rival, Tiny, seems to have an accent that indicates he might be Indian, since Australia and India have a great rivalry and every Indian person I've known has told me cricket is a religion over there. So idk, just thought it was neat to see them represented by a talented youth with a bright future and a formidable throw.

I have no words to really describe this episode except it's a masterpiece. It has motivated me more to reach for my dreams and goals. Bluey is more than just a show, it has changed me as a person, puting more effort and care into my job, and working more on my studies. I will never be able to show enough gratitude to the creators and this community for what it has done.

This episode has changed my life I watched it and immediately thought about my own hobby football (English) and I was getting good but if never joined a team because I felt like it was too late and everyone would be better. And I thought about rusty dad's quote “You'll face much harder things than a cricket ball and you'll have 2 choices back away and get out or step in front” so on Wednesday I auditioned for a team and on Friday I had my first training.

anthor awesome Video by the one and only pugly this video has a special place in my heart because not only your amazing music choice this episode made me cry ugly tears it has a special place in my heart because of how much struggles I went through to be able to go pro in the fields i play but only the interactions between rusty and his dad really was the kicker for me since i wish my dad cared for me to at least send a massage to check on me but i don't care about that no more this episode is deffo my 2nd favourite after space i enjoyed this video so much it truly made my day and i hope you the best and lookin forward for what you have in store your videos are truly inspirational

Interesting fact: We receive names to the shots Rusty plays such as when trying to place it accurately to the off-side (Right Field) as a square cut and the one he swings the bat in a 180 degree arc against the pace bowling to the leg side (Left field) as a pull shot. But the one he was playing to Jack against the unpredictable spin is called an on-drive and the one he plays to give his sister a catch is called an off-drive. You'll notice how both shots are mirror images of each other.

A EPISODE SURROUNDING MY FAVORITE CHARACTER JUST DROP??? I'LL BE THERE

"Cricket" and "Sleepytime" are some of the most amazing and evocative episodes of the series

Beautiful episode. Es cine. Art. Not much else to say lol Rusty and Jack have solidified places in my top 3. I heavily relate to this episode and the characters (Jack and Rusty especially lol).

I had to make sure to go and watch the episode after hearing about it. In 2022 I started playing a sport and so this kind of media really speaks to me. The stories of overcoming difficulty and even injuries are something that I really understand now. And that last scene was really something special, as the glove bump is something I do with my teammates, during practice and to hype them up for their matches. The one scene about playing with people who are far over your current skill level has to be the most impactful. There are only two real beginners on the team, one being me. Rusty's Dad's advice mirrors the advice I was given. To not back up when your opponent goes to strike, if you can't strike first. Sports are an incredibly impactful journey, whether it be cricket, baseball, lacrosse, or even Kendo. I'm glad that this show was able to share that in such a beautifully executed way

@@Pugly @Pugly Ah, thank you! It was a lesson I wasn't expecting to really learn. After all, I just started it as a hobby and way to meet people while on exchange in japan. But those little things are really what become a huge part of our lives. The sport I play, Kendo, is quite far from cricket. It's basically swordfighting with bamboo sticks. Just shows how good the writing is to have that overlap

Ill say this now. Your Bluey videos got me to pick up the first two seasons. I'll be looking for season 3 soon and I can't wait for more to be available here in the west. Bluey reminds me of nick junior shows I loved watching even when I was a big kid and I'd probably enjoy watching now. I'm in My twenties and my goodness this show is so good i love it
