I just had my mother buy the class 4 (last gen gersion of this TV) because she was looking for an upgrade over the old 32" visio I donated to her living room after college. 4k literally blew her mind. I saw it first hand at her house. For the price of these panels, I was awestruck at just how good they looked. I actually didnt have any problem watching it in a living room with full height windows down 2 entire walls. Now im trying to figure out if I can afford $450 for the series 6

I remember when I was a kid, probably around '90-'91, my parents bought a 27" tv to replace the 13" in the living room. They let me play the Nintendo on it for a day. It felt like Mario was jumping around my living room. Now any tv under 50" feels tiny.

@@thatoneguy12986 idk, they make something like a 40 or 45 inch TV that's the same as mine except for the size. It's got the full HDR and everything. I think you can get one of those for like 200-250 bucks now. Thinking about getting one of those for when I want to veg out in my bedroom. I love the 55 but it is a bit ridiculous considering how close I sit to it being near-sighted as I am. I think the 40 would be a nice size for people like me sitting 2 feet away from the damn thing. I'll probably look around the holiday sales. Who knows, maybe I'll get real lucky and find one on the super-cheap.

Thanks for this great video and the insights about the panel manufacturing. Had no idea it was done like that! I hadn’t even heard of TCL until I came across a recommendation in an email and I couldn’t believe the price. Bought the 75 inch immediately. Forget the built in sound, I Bluetooth audio to my amplifier hi-fi system. Picture is awesome, especially for the price. It plays all my files on an NTFS formatted external hard drive directly connected to the USB. Everything works perfectly and seamlessly. I’ve actually never been happier with a TV set. I have a Marantz/polk/svs setup (I love it but I'm not rebuying for something better) and a really good pair or stereo speakers with a sub for movies is plenty good enough nowadays in comparison if you value your money. Chasing that audio dream and paying for its is a losing game for the young. 😅 You can get such good value out of selfpowered bluetooth speakers in the 200-1000 dollar range now that your sure to find something pleasing in your price range. The backlights on the sides and top are still an issue for me as I sit within 5 feet of the TV, but for the $280 I bought it for, I'm just going to get used to it. I'm glad most TVs come with digital audio as that's what my speakers use as well, I never used the TV speakers.

I feel like that was only because they were so expensive and massive in terms of weight and depth. I used to have a 32 inch CRT TV in my room and it took almost as much room as my workspace next to it. Also it was so heavy moving it alone was an impossibility. Now I have a 65 inch TV, that costs less than that old CRT one, weighs less and I wall mounted it so it takes no space. I could even do all that by myself, because it's not as massive and heavy. Also, the image quality back then was so bad, that you didn't really get anything out of having a bigger TV, since the picture quality just was not there.

Yeah for the size of my room and the TV stand a 55" is the limit for me. But there are plenty of good 55" TVs to choose from. But you do see far more of a selection of 55" TVs than you do with TVs of an odd size.

Something the same here. Everything above 46" looks just absurd, and I've got a somewhat big 3 story family house.. It's not like it's a Dutch apartment or something. The TV is almost exclusively used by my 6 year old and his switch. I'm happy with my 40" Samsung, and apparently I need to hold on to it because 'smaller' TVs are going to be rare if I hear the explanation in this video.

I have a 55 inch TCL 4k HDR TV and honestly, I love it. The HDR looks fine to me and is definitely noticable compared to when it's off. It was cheap compared to others in it's class, the backlighting is great, the color looks great, has low latency, upscaling looks good, Roku inside, and it came with an 8th inch adapter to hook up my retro consoles. I've had it for about two years and it still works great. I've got no complaints at all. They are also like a third the price of the Samsung/Sony etc. I would highly recommend the TV I have, especially since they are down around 400 bucks now. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck.

Found one of these at a garage sale for free. The woman said half the screen was busted, but it turned out that the power supply was partially damaged which made it lose LED backlighting on half the tv. Thing is, she had it on max brightness. We just set it to ‘bright’ instead of ‘brightest’ and it’s been working fine for 3 months lmao

Because you haven't installed uBlock Origin. It's like three clicks. Every time someone complains about ads I'm like "You could have put the time to complain into getting rid of ads forever, you do know that, right?" Three clicks. Even bing can find the link to it. Come on, you can do it.

If you see the button say "Skip Ad" then there's only one ad. But if you remember from early life, there is the letter "S." So if you see the button say "Skip Ads" (See, that letter came up again.) then you know there will be another ad after that one. Pushing Skip will skip all of them. Super useful. (Or do ad block like all the cool kids, I guess.)

@Die_Ns it makes sense when you think about what they must spend on decorating all their studios for all their channels. They probably have a great deal of experience with rugs by now. Plus, it's nice to get a break from the same products and services advertised on all the other tech channels I watch... I am so sick of VPN ads that it's causing a complex.

I remember this TV for black Friday this year (2022) was around 229.99 for black Friday... Crazy how cheap large TV's have gotten... Especially if you think about how high inflation is been going up once you factor it into the price it's like 150$ or something that's kinda nuts.. We are almost to the point that TV's are just large disposable item if we aren't there already...

Define "good." TCL is the Chinese company that made that internet connected TV so who TF knows what TF info China is collecting from whoever uses that god forsaken television. Say, for example, you sign in to Netflix. How do you know China isn't harvesting your Netflix login info?
