oml, this explanation is so clear. Now i get it why the mask's presence is recurring from the starting of the series (when veldora explained how he was under the unlimited imprisonment) when the hero wore it, and then shizu. i was confused whether shizu was the hero. but shizu said to rimuru that the mask was passed by the hero to suppress ifrit's presence inside her. and on the ep 23 (i am not sure if its 23) diablo said that the mask has the time of infinity when it didnt even let him touch it. when he touched it, his hand arm came off. which shows that the mask has ultimate power of the time, space and also shows that the recurrence of the mask which is cyclical is due to the mask holder's passing down the mask in the order (chloe --> shizu --> rimuru --> chloe) which is kinda very deep and awesome to think and explain abt ^^

Avengers End Game reference: So back in the future is a bunch of BS? So rimuru was literally the one who made it? I've read some spoilers saying he was the reason why chloe can loop time infinitely and the fact that rimuru can duplicate it that means he has the real "patent" of that mask. Assuming the other timeline where chloe looped the time and brought the mask in the past like this sequence, Old chloe->Shizu->Rimuru->young chloe. Imagine if that sequence broke down if somehow rimuru changed his mind the slightest or influenced by something. I mean the character Yoo Jonghyuk from Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint regressed 1863 times coz it's all failure creating multiple failed verses and there was only one that he managed to become somewhat humane again, it was when Kim Dokja intervenes.

Yes, he was obsessed with the mask for quite a while because he realized it transcended time itself. It was completely indestructible to the best of his knowledge. he stalked Shizue to try and learn more about the mask. He became obsessed with Rimuru when it cracked in his presence when Ifrit went out of control. His obsession became even greater when he watched Rimuru repair it flawlessly shortly after. And his obsession was completely solidified as he watched it break under the pressure of his aura alone. Diablo essentially jumped strait to Rimuru is a transcendental being in his head back before he even became a Demon Lord Seed. By the time he went through the Harvest Festival, Diablo was convinced Rimuru was a god in every meaning of the word. Which is overall a misunderstanding since the mask simply looped through time over and over again.

He's the type of character that they Must write to have Absolute Loyalty to his whoever he's serving, else otherwise he'd be the most suspect character every single second of the entire series whether he is on or off screen...

I think another reason that is not mentioned is that, in order to be named, the Namer must have a mana pool large enough to use on the Named. Being named from Noir to Diablo cost Rimuru half of his entire mana pool, and this is after he leveled up to Demon Lord. Not many have that much mana to begin with, and of the select few that did, not many would enter a contract with a demon such as him, as he was often a competitor to their powers and position. However, Rimuru, being an upstart with no discrimination against any race or species, and having just had enough mana to do so, apparently saw no problems doing this. In this way, Diablo also gained a significant boost in power, and all he had to do was to serve Rimuru, whom he finds fascinating to begin with.

no, you got one thing wrong! great sage/raphel was sucking the mana out of veldora who is one of the four true dragons and have the highest amounts of magicules(mana), this was the only reason he was able to name hundreds of people, in light novel veldora mentioned multiple times as to how annoying and painful it was for him

As I understand it Rimuru also didn't realize just what Diablo was or how strong he was. Rimuru at first just thought he was a regular demon till the naming. Also being connected to Veldora's practically infinite magicules is what originally granted Rimuru the strength to just go around naming literal armies like it's no big deal. And after evolving he gained enough of his own power that his bad habit never got fixed.

I don't know If this is true but I think I read somewhere that the mask is originally created by Rimuru from another timeline and entrusted it to Chloe and then Chloe goes back in time and gave the mask to Shizu. Then Shizu gave the mask to Rimuru and he gave the mask back to Chloe eventually. That's why he said it felt right that he gave the mask to Chloe. Though the point is Chloe is the owner, Rimuru is just its creator.

Yes. He got an instinct that Rimuru is above him which he himself couldn't really explain. And the cracking of the mask is just another prove to his assumption. Coz Rimuru reinstalled the mask to its original power without blinking when the mask itself is already a big mystery since it contained the unlimited compression of time. Only high level creatures could utilize the power of time like the true dragons or primordial demons. And even them could only uitilize it limitedly such as stopping time for a few hours, accelerating time, etc. But the mask gave a hint to an owner that could compress unlimited power of time which is ridiculous. Finding the owner to the mask mean finding the highest power of all. Yet Rimuru just made an exact copy of that mask without blinking.

The comments here basically cleared up the real reasons why Diablo is so interested in Rimuru. However, I can't help but think that perhaps this author was really taken by the Demon character from Black Butler, and decided that he would add his own version in to his slime universe.

Tldr, "That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime" lore is actually really complicated and involves time travel. With in the story humans can occasionally slip through the world border as other worlds and entering the world with magic causes their body and soul to act as a vacuum, absorbing energy into themselves which often manifest as powerful unique skills. But the body also bears much of the weight by blocking some of the energy as their soul absorbs magicules, the foundational building blocks of magic, into their soul. A summoning spell can also be used to drag a human over forcefully to be used as a weapon as they often manifest unique skills from the energy their soul absorbs. But children's bodies aren't mature enough to protect their bodies properly and the energy absorbed often isn't manifested as a unique skill, so the energy goes haywire and their young bodies are torn apart from the inside. Rimuru is a unique case among unique cases as unlike almost every other case, only his soul was transferred over which usually burns the soul and causes it to break upon entry, but his soul was strong enough to endure with out a body to protect itself and attuned two unique skills which were aspects of two ultimate skills which were shattered by the creator God for being too powerful. One of the 7 deadly sins and 7 heavenly virtues. Being Gluttony and Wisdom respectfully. Post awaking both of these ultimate skills were fully rebuilt. The other insentience of soul reincarnation was where a man's soul reincarnated into an unborn child as only their soul passed through the barior. It was also stated that in previous timelines Rimuru often awoken during the war with the eastern empire and his ultimate skills manifested there, further tying into that at some point the original mask was created by an awoken Rimuru and was given to the child Chloe before the adult Chloe was woken up at some point and their unique skill was used to send them into the past where the mask some how followed and was attuned to the power of time through their unique skill which likely manifested. Fannon hypothesizes that it was created in an attempt by Rimuru to prevent Chloe's soul from destroying herself as a summoned child who didn't awaken a unique skill. It's unclear how Chloe's unique skill manifested but it's highly implied that they revived a blessing from the spirit of time. Similar to a Pure light or Pure dark spirit which allows an individual to inherit a hero's egg, the counterpart to a demon lord's seed. Likely during their first journey with their childhood friend Leon where Leon gained a light or dark spirit (more likely a dark spirit.) where the egg latter hatched and they were awoken as a true hero. Due to the unique case of Chloe and their hypothetical protection from the spirit of time, things went differently for them and resulted in a bizarre time loop regarding getting separated from Leon when they both got pulled over and Chloe eventually receiving the mask and eventually finding a way to break the cycle in the main timeline that the anime takes place in. It's directly stated that Chloe through many trials and errors eventually created the main timeline where Rimuru awoke far earlier then the war with the eastern empire and revived their own mask from Shizu. Hoping that the timeline where he awoke earlier would lead him down a path where he would have the power early enough to break the cycle. Much of this is hypothetical however. The true source of the mask and how the time loop started has never been confirmed in actuality.

I really like this perspective of Diablo that you've presented. Nothing is more intriguing to an immortal being than in finding wonder in another! Kudos on this excellent observation!

The mask is a Paradox Item, since its created by rimuru based on his knowledge of the mask, but that mask was given to shisu by the hero, the hero is chloe who got the mask of rimuru, who amde it cause he gave it to chloe, meaning that it was created based on its own design from the future send to the past. aka a Paradox

Not sure about what will progress in LN, but through WN alone, Diablo just got an instinct that Rimuru possibly held the highest power out of all through both his encounter with the mask that could compress the unlimited time in it and the indescribable feeling of witnessing Rimuru through his own eyes. It is known for all wise being in Tensura that the power of time is the highest of all powers, and few could utilize it even for a little, let alone utilizing it unlimitedly. And he just got an instinct that Rimuru owns that power, which is later on proven to be true without Rimuru realizing it himself earlier. It is mentioned that the demon is the most knowledgeable creature out of all and that the black primordial is the most genius out of all of them demon. So, we can't really blame him for obsessing over Rimuru 😌. Not to mention both Ramiris and Veldora, who are both defined as could be deceiving sometimes due to their outer personalities. But actually are very smart inside and got very sharp instincts. They both followed Rimuru without questions.

Hell no. Just many factors about Rimuru, like Shizu's mask or his skills (mainly involving the Great Sage), made Diablo so fascinated about him. When Rimuru showed his abilities, he had a hunch that Rimuru would surely become a being capable of changing the world and was then worthy of serving. Though, I don't think he would've ever known that Rimuru would reach the level Veldanava

Yes, he was obsessed to Rimuru. But there's already a side story about why Diablo is Obsessed with Rimuru. Its because of Shizue. Diablo and Shizue first meet at s1 Ova episode and the side story manga continues it. Diablo was always encountering Shizue and Shizue always try to kill Diablo cuz yeah, he's a demon, and until they just become acquaintances until Shizue's death he lost interest. Until Rimuru came and swallowed Shizue and become Human(looks like Shizue)

The mask has no real owner or no fake owner since it is time paradox. Ova diablo episode only explain a little since this is spoiler. No, that mask was fake. Not the original mask. He made that mask after giving the original to Chloe. And remember, it was sage skill that analyse and create that mask so it's not strong, infact, after that awakening, i don't remember Rimuru ever wearing that mask again. You also have to remember that even the original cracked when Shizue transform to Ifrit and Rimuru repaired it. That's probably the reason why Diablo was interested on Rimuru. Cuz Rimuru was the focal point of the mask's time loop. The focal point, not the reason or "why", because ot was Chloe's power that made that possible.

Oh, i just remember, and purely my speculation. And probably spoiler alert. There is actually 2 time loops connected to each other in an infinity pattern. I don't know which one to start with but base on the hint, the intersection of the pattern would be the focal point and the time Rimuru existed. First, let start to the previous time line. In that time line, Chole manage to set the past, (the adult Chloe), and made a contact woth Rimuru. Chloe will make sure that all the important point and person related to Rimuru will be set. After some time, Rimuru will die and Chloe will rampage. By that time, Guy will have to fight her and at some point, going to the past where Rimuru helped the little Chloe consolidate her power. That point in the future will be erase because the cardinal world was running on the principle of singularity. And time resetting was only unique to one person, aka Chloe, and is actually can not be used easily, you will have to fulfill all the requirements to reset the time. So there is no problem of the time line going haywire because of multiple time traveler. After that, Chloe will have to go in the past again and just have to retrace the history to get to the point in time where Rimuru manage to awakened as a demon lord and stays alive to stop the loop, even at the least, just temporary. But i have a feeling that Rimuru's death was the cause, if i say so myself, or requirements for Chloe to use the skill. It's like telling us that Rimuru can not die and if he dies, the time will reset to the point that he was alive. So in a sense, it is actually intriguing.

@@alvinclaw6871 i don't remember much but imma try to read again. I think at LN volume 12, Chloe told Rimuru her journey, and all the previous time line, Rimuru died before awakening to demon lord. That the different this time was, Chloe didn't do anything to Rimuru when he was returning to Jura and resulting to being delayed by Hinata and being late in getting to Jura hence he could not save Shion and resorting to become a demon lord. That was the only time line that he did awakened as a demon lord. So the key was, he became the demon lord early before the empire make a move. That was all i remember. Before, Chloe warned him or pestered him so he evade Hinata and got home early, prevented the massacre, did not get the info to becoming the demon lord, fend of the army and peace returns. After some time, the empire invaded, because he did not awakened as a demon lord, he died by the hands of the empire. As Chloe can remember, Rimuru always died because of the empire some way or the other, and it's alway her or Veldora going rampage destroying most the land.

I think he first noticed the mask when shizu was alive and meet Diablo then she cut his hand but he wasn't after her and just came to kill a greater demon. After that we had been observing the mask until it landed in Rimuru's hands. He then noticed Rimuru when Rimuru summoned one of Diablo's kin to make a golem for ramirus. He wanted to come at that time but the mana wasn't enough for his existence so he sent is kin.

@@AkohTech @micheal808 Let me correct you. When Diablo and Shizu fought, Diablo tried to kill her but was repelled by the power of the mask. As he observed the mask, he said it like this "that mask... that time compression... is it infinity" then he also said that the mask surpasses time. By the the result of attacking the mask, Diablo's arm was torn instead. From then on, he observe the mask, and when Rimuru was born to the cardinal world, i suspect that the mask slowly lost it's power and can no longer contain Ifrit. Several months passed and they met, and then the day the mask lost its power and freed Ifrit. Diablo witness that and what happened to the mask and suspect that Rimuru has something to do with the mask. Thus, his attention switch to Rimuru, when Rimuru tried to summong a demon for Ramires, Diablo tried to go but was too late as one of his kin answered the call faster than him. Which is a good unfortunate because he would have to serve Ramiris instead of Rimuru if he manage to be summoned.

The mask has no origin, it is created by looping of timelines in the series. First it was with chronoa, then she gave it to shizu and shizu gave it to rimuru. Rimuru then gave it to chloe who goes on a timeloop journey to become chronoa

maybe yes. maybe no. because as you already know. in the manga Chloe Unique ability called chronoa take hinata and travel to the past to prevent Rimuru from Dying again and again but no matter what the result is always the same, and as the Time running for a hundred years, Chloe consciousness Faded Bit by bit until its gone and and all remain is a emotionless unique ability as a killing machine but before that i think chloe sealed herself and hinata is the one who continue the journey but not the same with chloe, hinata soul will fade and cause her to die if she would never go back to the present timeline. until she meet Luminous and tell her all the Story about the Future and about the killing machine who sealed herself and to never let it go unsealed or it will cause a catastrope.. by the way along the way Hinata and Chloe meet Veldora and chloe sealed him tooo.

Answer for end of video question (Realistically it’s a loop hole) It went from Chronoa -> Shizu -> Rimuru -> Chloe (Later becomes the Masked Hero Chronoa) but it’ll just repeat cycle so the mask’s owner before this would’ve just been Rimuru had the time reversal not occurred

I haven’t read the books, but watched the anime intently. And like all good anime, they have a knack for giving clues as to what May come or be, and this show was no different. My guess was, the hero that beat Veldora might have had enough strength to kill him, but trapped him in a field that gave him plenty of time to 1: change his ways, 2: breed new life and plants/materials in a cave otherwise devoid of life and magic, and 3: meet and name Rimuru (gave him 2 names, while he received 1). Rimuru probably got the power to name Veldora but eating all the plants and crystals created but Veldora’s draining magicules. Plus he was battling other monsters before n after meeting Veldora. We then here that the same hero beat Shizu, but didn’t kill her, instead took care or her like a loving child, and gifted her, her mask. Shizu would then spend her life giving back and taking care of children like her, til things got unstable and left. She later meets Rimuru and build a tight bond, and asked him to take care of her kids. She then gifts him her body and her mask, giving Rimuru her face and “abilities” including taste buds (most likely powers, but he got that from Ifrit as well). When he meets Chloe and stabilizes her, the spirit from the future kissed Rimuru before inhabiting Chloe, clearly looked like Shizu’s adopted parent. And Chloe was the only one that clearly understood that she loved Rimuru. And out of all of Shizu’s kids, he gave the mask to Chloe and she was comforted. So my guess was, she later marries Rimuru, something happens that forces her to go back in time, fight and trap Veldora, fight and mentor Shizu, so they both could help Rimuru and herself in the future, then either return to the future or the afterlife to possess her younger self when Rimuru is present!
