Awesome stuff. I fly at excel formulas but in the beginning, DAX was like science fiction. The main obstacle is breakin out of the safety of excel logic which i consider 2D. Whereas with DAX you have to beginnin thinking in 3D. When it comes to virtual tables and variables that worm hole is in 4D and i am yet to conquer it!!

Thank you, Chandeep! Great video. I started gathering info about Power BI around 3 years ago. But I didn't dive deep into it's water)) Just trying it with "the tip of my toe" )) Your 4 reasons are curious to listen! You are right, visual help in excel is very useful. And the ability to look at every step of a formula is convenient indeed. I feel it's helpful to be able to realize why exactly the DAX is difficult for me to wrap my head around partly because of my Excel background.

Great video Chandeep, in excel even if you did not learn the fundamental fully, still can work to a greater extend, whereas in Dax if you miss a single topic in the fundamental you are pound to suffer, at least it was true in my case. Your videos and the course was a survivor. Thank you.

DAX is hard, but maybe that's the beauty of the language. It forces you to think in a very abstract way. In my opinion, it is a mistake to start trying to develop measures in DAX without having learned its fundamentals. It's not a language that you can learn on the basis of trial and error because small nuances create completely different results. Learn the theory and fundamentals of language, then practice, practice, practice...

Hi Chandeep. Good thoughts on DAX and some of the reasons why it can be considered hard. No pain.. no gain :)) Thanks for all the resources that you make available to those who are interested in building a strong foundation of knowledge and also taking things to the next level. Thumbs up!!

You are perfect brother.... I am working on power bi ...from past 2+ years still I am not confident on DAX and it's the only problem I face..rather than writing 10 mins code ..it took entire day to find a solution. If possible I want a visual diagramatic explanation of DAX measures. Like Allselected,All functions in a model

I found dax more confusing than a programming language like c++. It's mostly trying to follow the logic or process flow with filter context and other weirdness

Approximately 14 years working on excel as a planner , what I felt the reason being DAX along with what you have told is to understand the complications of Different Filters in result

Hi Chandeep, great video. I agree with all the points and although the mentioned external tools being excelent, there's no easy debugger built-in in pbi, which is a shame. Thanks for the content!

DAX is just so different from anything else, whether that is Excel or a programming language such as Python.

Hey... I am fresher like I never did coding but I want to learn Power BI. Can I get job if I have certification of power BI and if I become good at it??

I think getting your hands dirty in DAX will take you a long way than a certificate. If you want a job, try and do some simple projects in DAX using PowerBi, then learn some more advance stuff. Once you have some level of knowledge, you can show-off that certificate as well as the knowledge you have gained from the projects you have done and hence land that job you wanted. It won't be easy, but just persevere and don't give up!
