Unless you get partnerships with baseball ⚾️ owners, they won’t let it happen, if there is no economical benefit to them. IMO. For cricket 🏏 it would be very difficult to competes against NFL 🏈 and NBA (basketball )🏀 , team owners here in the US. There are many cricket teams in the US, I believe cricket 🏏 have a long long way to go in the US.

"Tara Norris" is an American Cricketer who played for "Delhi Capitals" in the "Women's Premier League 2023".

US has a decent population of parents from cricket playing countries. However, their next generation is hooked on to NFL and other popular sports. There should be a good incentive to play the game, so the parents may consider it. It requires a heavy investment and good marketing. Long bumpy road ahead for cricket.

And that is the problem Americans are still a WASP society and like to see Wasps playing it and running it in their own country Imagine India coming to Australia and buying the MCG and playing Indian teams on it constantly and not having the ASHES.

They need to create special ties like calling the top baseball teams to play a friendly with an IPL team which can draw huge american crowd. It needs to be projected as fun first and then the hardworking nature of it should be highlighted. Funding, scholarships etc money needs to be poured in to lure americans. The potential for advertising in huge in cricket as there are so many breaks just like Basketball and this can be a great incentives for american businessmen to dive into cricket. Creating a ground up system will take a lot of time for sure but more money can certainly expedite the process. Besides the top 10 nation playing cricket, the game has found it difficult to pull natives to play the sport everywhere because there haven't been proportional incentives for the effort.

There is a big push for Soccer and Cricket here in US. Messi plays for inter-miami and draws huge crowd. I wish one day Dhoni(Thalai) plays here.

Soccer is thriving in the US because there was already an established fanbase for it for decades. Cricket, however, is not growing as popular as soccer because the vast majority of Americans are not familar with it.

@@manannaik1341it just hasn’t been pushed before with a good backing. Now is the perfect time. The Indian, and south Asian population has more than doubled the past decade I believe. What we learned is there is already enough fans here to sustain a league. As long as they get a solid tv deal, and advertise to a broader audience they’ll grow easily. The people running the league said the point of this season is to focus on current cricket fans, and get an idea how many will come to games. Next season will be longer, and they’ll have a bigger advertisement campaign. Honestly once baseball fans here watch a T20 match they’ll be hooked. The other main thing will be building infrastructure for youth players. Those are going to be the future stars, and fans for the next decades. With a healthy youth system the league will be here for the Long term. It’ll be nice in 10 years or so when we won’t need as many international players to have high quality games. After how season 1 went though I’m confident MLC isn’t going anywhere. It has potential to become the league players want to play in. Getting paid the same, and helping grow cricket in the largest sports market is too good to pass up. The international players playing in the league early on will be considered pioneers and legends here one day. I wouldn’t pass that up.

Correction needed: None of the games were played in converted baseball fields. All the games were played in two stadiums specifically built and dedicated to Cricket. Cricket is growing at a good pace in the USA.

Americans don't like or don't get Cricket. Anyway they have their own bat and bowl game which has the ebb and flow of test cricket and rythm and is fairly popular. Its called Baseball. Also to a lesser extent Softball which is popular with American women. Thats not to say there isn't market for Cricket in the U.S. There is because millions of immigrants from Cricket playing nations emigrated to the U.S. in the last 70 years. Certainly enough to fill any Baseball or football stadiums. Its people who came especially south asia and lesser extent from other cricket playing naitons who will support Cricket in U.S. As for ordinary Americans not so much. Trying to make Cricket popular in U.S. has tried many times in the last 70 years and its always failed because like I said Americans have their own bat and ball sport called Baseball. Anyway it would be great to watch Cricket in the U.S. would be great way to get people from former Cricket playing nations in one stadium. Most Americans though will just see Cricket as a curiosity. Cricket might break out from this if it can attract some Baseball fans and Baseball players to be part of the league. As both these sports are similar and some of the skills from Baseball to Cricket is absolutely interchangeable. In fact a Cricket player could be more successful at Baseball than the other way around. It would be hard for example for a Baseball player to master the art of Batting in Cricket. In baseball batting is simplified. With the philosophy hit out or get out. Striking hard at the ball and swinging as hard as possible and the bunt which is similar to a defensive shot and running a single in Cricket. Where as in Cricket batting is more like an art form or similar to the sport of fencing. This might be a bit hard for Baseball fans to get head around. But they will certainly understand Fielding and Bowling in Cricket which is very similar to Baseball. So there is scope there if the league can attract some of the American baseball fans and players. But Cricket like Fencing or Table Tennis or Badminton will only ever be a niche sport. Don't expect it despite the good intentions of the people wanting to popularise this fine bat and ball sport to ever make anymore than a niche sport in the U.S. Also I hope some attention to Cricket in the Caribbean which is in urgent need of financial injection as the sport has been in the doldrums in the west indies for decades I would like to see this leageu to include the west indies venues as part of the league which is next door to the U.S. The West Indies too needs much Cricket investment from the leagues from India. If they are investing in the U.S. they should include the Caribbean which is a genuinely important region of the Cricket world unlike the U.S. This league would be meaningless to me if it at some stage does not include some part Caribbean a bit like what Allen Stanford managed to do. I am hoping an indian investor will also invest for the sport in the Caribbean a region of the world with genuine Cricket history and importance to the sport unlike the U.S.

I think the only way to popularize cricket in the US is to convert popular MLB baseball players into cricket players. I think that could work since Americans are into following where their idols go. MLC players need to be domestic from the US not some foreigner who cannot relate to the American viewer, enable to popularize the sport in the US.

building a system would be the easy part. just like all other sports in the USA, players would come from Colleges/Universities systems. The hard part is getting Americans interested in Cricket. Baseball itself is on a decline in the USA.

Don’t see Americans warming up to this sport anytime in the near future just like Indians won’t adopt baseball or American Football. The overall attitude towards cricket remains largely dismissive. This will remain a sport played and driven by South Asian expats for the foreseeable future

I think countries should co-operate eachother in sports sector as well. For example if US can help India in games like football, basketball, baseball.... In return India can help them in Cricket, Wrestling, Kabaddi, badminton etc. And US has the potential to make a cricket team ready in a short period of time as it is a biggest destination for immigrants. If you see English cricket team, around 50% of their players are not native but still they're a good team.

I think if we wanna be great at football (soccer), we should do sports exchange with teams like Argentina and Brazil. Both are top football teams but they also struggle in cricket. We can start a five year plan to mentor them for cricket and they can mentor our football teams. As we saw both teams tried to qualify for 2024 world cup and BCCi can definitely afford to train 50-100 more players, given India already has almost close to million pros in here.

Get rid of the foreign club owners Make it a law that their G/Parents had to have been born in the UK. While ever 1 AND 2 exist the UK Internationally will always be a also ran.

Well most players(Asians) who played for MLC are also local(US born) we Indians and Carribbeans are very conservatives may be we can watch NFL, NBA but we can't leave our culture. So yes infuture those Indian origin pl player may take the sports

Cricket in the US is an idea bound to fail. For a sport to pick up in the States, it is important that their universities accept that sport and start investing into it. And that is not going to happen. It's next to impossible to get Americans to watch cricket. Getting big money via wealthy South Asian expats is not going to prove enough, universities need to accept and promote the sport and that is pretty much impossible to crack ..
