Why is Chennai so underrated?

Mumbai is great but populated.
Bangalore has great weather but it's getting saturated.
Delhi has great food but super-polluted.
But you still ignore Chennai.
Compared to other metros, Chennai's the most misunderstood, misjudged, misrepresented city in India. It isn't perfect, but it's home...and while it has its negatives, the positives are way too many to be ignored.
Chennai is India's most underrated city: Agree/Disagree? Tell me in the Comments.

Perfectly Rated. For me Chennai is better than banglore because of The Beaches and Cinema. But banglore is better with Climate and Living standard. Chennai surely not underrated and i don't know why people think that. In South chennai and banglore is the most famous cities and Movies and All romanticized these cities More than Hyderbad or kochi. In reality all these 4 cuties from from states have Their own unique quality. So definitely chennai is not underrated, it is perfectly rated or in some case it is overrated. I mean comon the city is not clean

Not just Chennai, in Madurai, Dindigul, Nagoore, Rameshwaram. I think unlike other states in India, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have a different history bereft of religious violence for the most part; also the linguistic identity of a Tamilian or a Keralite is a very strong common base before any other indentity-differences come up. "The Guidy National Park - Snake Park - Children's Park and the nearby Birla Planetarium - Gandhi Mandapam" a perfect budget-friendly weekend getaway. My mother tongue is Tamil but I'm from Bengaluru. Grew up in both Mysuru and Bengaluru my entire life. I've visited Tamil Nadu many, many times and the people of Tamil Nadu (as well as Kerala) are so distinct, unique with strong values, identity, work-ethic that I think a lot of other Indians should learn from. The reason why Chennai and Tamil Nadu in general has grown and developed equitably is because of the people-centric policies of the State government to put the interests, welfare and the growth of its people first eg. the 2-language policy (Tamil + English). Its the only state that has had the political will across party-lines to stand-up for its linguistic rights for decades. Other states like Maharashtra, Karnataka, West Bengal have spoken about developing and protecting their linguistic culture, but with regards to core-core-identity, TN (as well as Kerala) are head-and-shoulders above the rest.

Mumbai is a place where you can find 6-7 languages being spoken but certainly not a city where they are refugees and same goes on with Bangalore too.. i have had friends who are kannadigas and speak in English when I am around especially when I visit their home so that they include me in the topic and am not left alone! Accomodating ppl and learning to speak multiple languages only helps us in long run! Chennai could do that a bit.. yeah even without it, it's a beauty but with that level of inclusion, it would certainly be the most liveable city ever in this country!

@@malathygarewal1750 You should probably consider changing your perspective that Friends are Friends irrespective of what caste they are and move on by answering to your super old century relatives who are asking this as , “I don’t know and don’t care what caste they belong to. They are my great friends “. We live in these years where life is uncertain for many and with approaching World war, where this caste is never a factor and we the youngsters should try to bring about this change starting within our family. No offence here, but just my opinion. It’s not the problem with Bangalore Banshankari, but more with your relatives mindset. Good luck then with your relatives questions, in case if they ask again.

Tamilnadu's mass education system is far far better than other education system in the country (having studied in CBSS and moving to TN syllabus made me realize it). Chennai is more connected to SE Asia than other cities, historically and by modern transports. I think most points you mentioned in above video makes a city shiny, but Chennai is livable and prosperous and not shiny. Regarding startups, its just a gamble, we people in Chennai create businesses that makes profits from the first month.

Like it's mentioned in the video, I have seen people criticizing Chennai for being conservative. I believe the city still manages have it's so called Madras pulse resonating in people's hearts because of it's non-suffocating conservative nature. I was neither born nor living in Chennai currently. But, I have spent a considerable amount of time there. And here, I have shared what I felt at heart and I can be very much biased.

Being from bangalore, and lived in Chennai for a few years, you are spot on. This is not the Bangalore I grew up in. Bangalore's culture is lost.

@@bharathsf feel d same..I'm from Madras, twenty years earlier, when someone says ' I'm going to Bangalore' in Madras, we used to say, 'hv a nice time'. But now, things changed, Bangalore has lost its charm and became like Madras or even worser.

I visited Chennai for a cumulative of I think 12-16 waking hours in last October and I absolutely loved the city. Incredibly peaceful, serene looking, clean, orderly, beautiful, affordable (food-prices) and it gave you a feeling that the past is really revered and carefully preserved there. I am now in London for my masters and as much as I miss Hyderabad (which too is a super underrated city by the way) I miss Chennai. I just want to be back to that vibe. Important to note, I visited in 2007 (two days before Sivaji came out) and I absolutely hated the city back then. It was dirty, felt congested and I just took a very bad vibe. I visited in 2011 for a World Cup match and felt it was it was slightly better. Just highlights that the city is constantly improving.
