Why is Canada so Empty?

Ойын-сауық

Why is Canada so empty?
Canada is the 2nd largest country in the world, and nearly as big as the entire continent of Europe. However, despite this massive size, it has a population less than that of Ukraine.
So, how does Canada have such a small population? Well, most of Canada’s land simply has too harsh of a climate for human habitation. On top of this, a large portion of Canada is unusable for agriculture.
This has resulted in a vast majority of the population being concentrated pretty close to the United States Border, where you can find the best farm land, as well as the most temperate land in the entire country.
This region in specific, known as the Quebec City-Windsor corridor, covers less than 2% of Canada’s land area, but houses more than 50% of Canada’s total population. And the main reason for this is that this region has the best farmland, as well as the best climate in all of Canada, due in part to the great lakes. Major Canadian cities like Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City all fall in this region.

Try living in a freezer. Everything breaks or is frozen solid. It takes less energy to cool a home than to heat it and heat the vehicles so they can start. Also frost heave on roads and buildings are a massive problem and cost to repair. Plus we don't have the oil that the Saudis have to pay for it. On top of that there isn't the population to warrant expanding "livable" areas. Also it's not totally empty except for the border area, look on a map there are cites in the (northern) middle areas of Canada.

Happy to say I grew up in the empty part. No place like it, it's honestly how wild how different a person you are if you don't grow up in the populated areas. Everyone is much more rude and selfish in the south, closer to an American. I had a massive cultural shock when I moved for school, I honestly miss the people the most and the absolute wild beauty of nature everywhere.

Let’s not forget that this Windsor-Quebec corridor is also where Canada was originally found back in the 1600’s when it was a French colony, i think that’s also why there is more people living there. Because a lot of the west part of Canada also have good climate and arable land but we only started to colonized this region at the mid/end of the 19th century.

Uh, no it's pretty accurate? I mean some small part around Vancouver and Vancouver island could have been white but other than that it's pretty much spot on. I live in Saskatchewan and you do know that agriculture isn't really done in the northern part of the province? Just the south and central bits, which are there on the map. Same applies in Manitoba and Alberta, though it's more extreme in Manitoba and less so in Alberta.
