Why is Cachar DC Keerthi Jalli so furious at a government official?
Cachar District Commissioner Keerthi Jalli, best known for her proactive stance in dealing with floods in the district, showed a different side on Wednesday.
Jalli appeared to be furious at a government official and warned him of suspension over dereliction of duty. The incident occurred when Jalli was on a visit to the Bethukandi dyke to monitor the repair work on the breach in the embankment that caused massive floods in Silchar. Jalli had instructed the officer to be available 24*7 until the problem is solved.
Several areas in Silchar have been submerged underwater for over 11 days now. The situation has improved slightly on Thursday with waters receding in a few places. However, people in many localities are still stuck inside houses without electricity, food, drinking water and other essentials.
