He's quickly become my favorite golfer. He's smart, unapologetic, relevant, and a damn good golfer.
met him his rookie year was probably about 15-16. Such a genuinely nice dude. Took me and my buddy into that players locker room to give us each a signed driving caps and a "mini tour" will always root for him.

He's been my favorite since he was an amateur at Riverbend (now dragonfly). He was always approachable, nice, humble and outgoing to all the locals.

You left out all of his contributions to long drive and the long drive community. I think that is his main contribution, being a guy who can build a bridge of respect between both sports within the one beautiful game we get to play.

I have a soft spot for contrarians and black sheep because I am one. I tried one length irons and they ultimately weren't for me. But arm lock putting like Bryson has changed my short game

He plays one-length clubs. Quite a few of his ideas about how to play came from a guy named Moe Norman. There are people in golf who believe the things they were told were the way to do it. They are offended when someone says there is another way. They are even more offended when that person has data that backs up their points. I listened to what he had to say and checked it out. It works. The reason that many players on the PGA tour did not like him is that he was a very slow player. He was doing some fairly intricate calculations for every shot. This took some time. Eventually even he agreed that it was too much and he simplified the process to be a little quicker. I like his approach.
It’s pretty simple. He said a bunch of cocky stuff that he couldn’t back up. He’s changed now, but I understand why people still dislike him
I wish he never joined LIV. But that said, his decency standing up for the kid he threw a ball to after his final round was awesome. He’s totally got my backing. Saw him at the Ryder Cup and he was fun to watch and interacted very well with the fans. Plays like Arnie used to. Really gives 110%.
basically the happy Gilmore of golf
2:31 'Joining legends like Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods and................................................ Ryan Moore' 🤣🤣🤣
I don't think he is hated by a long shot. Seems to be a great guy
I only dislike him for being a cry baby about running into string. Totally tarnished his character in my eyes.
Bryson is the man. He brings something special to golf at a time when it’s needed in the sport.
Saw him at the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straights. Easily the most entertaining player there. Struck me as someone who gives every ounce of effort humanly possible to the game. A true professional. I only hope he takes enough time off to enjoy the life his efforts have afforded him. Seems like a really good guy standing up for the kid at the PGA.
My dad is 56 and played for the PGA for 12 years and is obsessed with Ben Hogan 😂😂
My favorite thing about bryson is that people are so mad that he hit it so far and that he is breaking the game of golf. If he has that large advantage, why is it everybody else on tour trying to get super long? If it’s such a cheat code, why isn’t everybody else doing it?
Subbed!

Why is Bryson so controversial? Well, we're talking about golf here... the sport that thinks wearing shorts in hot weather is controversial. Do I need say any more?
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery :)
He's not different to Hogan, Hogan used science he just taught himself , BD uses modern tech. Hogan knew more about spin and flight trajectory etc than anyone else because he knew it mattered. So does BD
No mention of USGA decreasing the long established maximum length of driver shaft when Bryson released footage of him crushing drives that would turn nearly all par 5s on tour into par 4s.
I wasn't into golf when he came on the scene. I have no bias for or against him. Now that I am REALLY into it, I really like the guy. Seems like a genuinely good dude. I root for him! I don't I don't understand the hat at all.
Because of all the articles and videos asking why he is so controversial.

Too bad I can’t stand either one of them.
we can only hope that golf hasn't changed 'forever'...since the new novelty sport is nothing so interesting or competitive as the traditional version... currently, the future of golf looks like a few spoiled cry babies who are happy to capitalize on the unfair advantage the pga created to sell expensive, plastic novelty drivers 30 years ago...we are now living in the fallout of that criminal decision to CHANGE golf into the 'bomb and gouge' version of today, where gorillas MIS-hit 350 yard tee shots, and have only wedges to every 500 yard par 4...yeah, that's real golf! hahahahaha the modern game is nothing that bobby jones, ben hogan, sam snead, arnold palmer, jack nicklaus, lee trevino, and tom watson would recognize... and the future looks even bleaker and more of a boring, limited hangout fiasco...the only way to 'challenge' these modern players with their novelty equipment is to lengthen the courses even further, eliminating even more of the shot makers from golf... the only realistic way to keep some shred of continuity with the past, where professional golfers often hit mid and long irons to par 4's, and almost never hit short irons to par 5's as they do today, is to make par 3's 300 yards...par 4's 5-600 yards...and par 5's 700 yards or more!! hahahahahaha...what a joke!! instead, if the criminal pga had only kept the novelty equipment where it was DESIGNED to be...for HIGH handicap golfers, and SENIORS, the game would remain the same respectable sport it had been for 100 years or more...and the games of today's pros could be directly compared to the past, as it ought to be. why should professional golfers be hitting clubs designed for BEGINNERS and SENIORS? the answer...to SELL overpriced novelty gear that has no place in professional golf, any more than training wheels should be on professional cyclists!! it's absurd. bryson hit the fewest fairways of any us open winner IN HISTORY!! but that's ok, huh? ben hogan must be rolling in his grave with laughter at the modern version of golf and golf equipment!! a sad state of affairs, as the culture implodes under the weight of it's greed and ego...golf just happens to be a perfect indication of the fall.

Taking the time to write all this lets me know several things: 1. You love golf 2. You don’t like change 3. You don’t hit it far 4. You don’t like Bryson My friend, all sports evolve. The NBA is now all about 3-Pointers and spacing. NFL is a pass first league now. Everything changes. You can support other types of golfers, but change doesn’t make the sport bad all of the sudden.

@@RayCanta so you would be ok if the nba suddenly came out with a ball that any decent player could just throw up from the line, and THE BALL would find the hoop?...that would be a natural progression of the sport for you?

and clearly, we could then compare THEIR stats with the new ball to the legends of the game who had to actually learn to shoot accurately?

@@RayCanta True about the NBA and NFL... and they're both worse off because of what you pointed out. change for the sake of change isn't always a positive. I like LIV and BD's approach to the game.
