My first Iphone, the best decision I did. I've had android phones for 7 years.

We need more of this! Not everyone can afford $1000 for a new phone. I wish more tech reviewers would review/compare older phones for people who are more budget conscious which are still great deals and totally viable today. I’m still rocking my 12 pro and it’s great!

There are tons of tech KZreadrs that do that and not everybody is forcing you to buy a new phone every year it's just common sense I get a new phone every 3 years

@@wasifchowdhury6913 I'm talking about 2 to 3 years. Who would upgrade a phone every year. Transferring data is already pain in the neck. Even 1000 or 1200 every 3 years is rediculous. Technology has not much to improve. Installing apps for every day use don't need that much computer power. My laptop is 8 years old and still good.

Wow only $1000 thats quite cheap for a new iPhone. In my country the 14 (not the pro, not the max, just the basic 14) usually starts at $1400. 👁👄👁 But at least it's good for years, I use an XS and love it in 2023.

If you’re getting 128 GB then I think it’s better to just spend an extra $50 and get the iPhone 13

@@BrandonButch iPhone 13 is absolutely worth buying brand new. It’s the best overall iPhone when factoring in price. It’s basically the same as the 14.

Had both the standard 12 and 13. I found the 13's battery far more superior, but other then that the 12 was a great phone.

For me getting the iPhone 13 when the 15 comes out would be the best choice for 2023. I'm going to get that sweet discount. Plus better battery life on the 13 and the 13 came with a base storage of 128GB compare to that stingy 64GB that Apple gave since the iPhone xr.

Thanks, Brandon. I picked up my 12 Pro Max when they'd just come out, and you make me feel good about hanging on to it. I was a hold-out for team Andriod in my family. I think this is a great phone to cross over with. I'm satisfied for what I do with it. My battery health is at 89% so I'm only considering replacing the battery in the future because with 256 GB storage, I'm all set until something major comes down the pike.

I had my 12 with 256GB storage since launch and the battery health recently went down to 85%. I doubt I will change the phone anytime soon as it does what I need it to do quite well. I almost always have my work laptop or iPad with me so there is little need for multi-tasking. Will look into changing the battery though.

Bought the iPhone 12 in 2021, still going strong and loving the phone. Hope to use it in 2-3 more years until my next upgrade.

I currently have a a 14pm but use a 12 for a back up device and I can say in 2023 it still performs great the battery still decent and so is the camera and performance I do recommend this if you can find it for a decent price as far as day to day usage it feels just a tad bit slower that’s because of the 60hz vs 120hz

I have an iPhone 12, which I bought new in January 2021. I’m waiting to see what the 15 is like as the 13 or 14 didn’t seem to have enough improvement for me to replace it. It still does what I need perfectly so I don’t feel that it needs replacing imminently

I upgraded to the 14 Pro in December but I still have fond memories of my old 12 Mini, at the end of the day I just wanted better camera tech especially 3X optical zoom

We actually just upgraded our daughters phone to an iPhone 12 she was on an SE and we just didn’t feel like she needed something brand new that just came out so we got her the basic 12 and she’s very happy with it. She’s in high school and uses it quite a bit and she has loved it.

I currently own a 12 Pro Max and find it great. My last iPhone was the 5. In between those years, I owned Samsung Note phones. My sister owned a regular 12 and gifted it to my mom recently.The 12 is a great overall phone.

I brought my iPhone 12 mini just the start of this year, and still staying strong.

Loving the cuts with you speaking in between. Really switches it up a bit which i like!

I purchased an iPhone 12 on October 2021 and I loved it. I plan to keep it for a another year or two. Loved your video, very informative. Thank you.

Got my iPhone 12 Pro Max on launch day and it still holds up absolutely amazing. Performance is plenty good and as you said Brandon extremely similar to the latest iPhones. Only two things I don't like about this phone is the zooming in and battery life. The iPhone 14 Pro / Pro Max with that 48MP sensor looks just as crisp when you zoom in compared to when you don't but unfortunately the iPhone 12 series lacks that feature. As for battery life, my battery health is at 86% which explains the shorter battery life but that's an easy enough fix. The display is great, the notch goes unnoticed 99% of the time, and there's no reason to overspend on a new iPhone if you are on a budget.

Getting the 14 pro max this week, I'll let you know how it is.

I've still got my iPhone 12 that I bought soon after it came out. I love the thing. It's my favorite phone of all the ones I've had so far. It was also my first iPhone. Before that, I used Android phones from various companies.

my 12 Pro replaced my 6s in January 2021 and I still have no issues. battery health at 87 over ~600 cycles, still gets me through the day. camera is still phenomenal, proraw shots are great. i think i miss the macro mode most in terms of camera performance when compared with the newer flagships, but i can live with it. The display is also still fantastic, but i will be very pleased when i upgrade to something a little brighter in hdr content. 1200nits sure is good, but it's not 1600 or 2000 like the 14 series. promotion will also be extremely welcome. however, between my 144hz gaming monitor, my ipad pro 11in (120hz), and the 60hz display on iphone, i don't notice the difference nearly as much as i thought i would when switching between devices. Now the question is whether i upgrade to a 14 pro while all my lightning cables are still relevant, or wait to see what other new goodies the next generation brings along with usb-c.

That was really a great and very helpful video you’ve made there B! 👏🏼 I wouldn’t have gotten the iPhone 12 when I had the 11 Pro Max, so I bought the 14 Pro Max less than two weeks ago and I’m so happy I bought it. I love it and the purple color is really awesome 👌🏼 I’m not that impressed with the battery if I compare it to my 11 Pro Max, but there’s other things in play on the 14 and that’s probably why 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m planning to buy the Apple Watch series 8 and the AirPods Pro 2. Gen tomorrow. Any advice there? Amazing work on this video 👌🏼

Still using my 12 Pro Max since launch. There's nothing to complain about. Nothing lags, pictures/videos look great to me. I use my phone A lot! My average screen on time is 8 hours a day because I also use this phone for work. The battery health is still at 85% capacity, which is good enough for me. And honestly, I am not seeing a reason to get the 15 this year. Maybe for the USB-C? I would definitely upgrade to an Ultra model, though.

Hey Brandon, I love watching your videos on Apple stuff. I have an Apple IPhone 12 Pro Max love it but am wanting to upgrade either to the 14 or wait until 15 comes out not sure yet. But when I watch your videos for new updates and all I may get the 14 pro max and see how this years 15 sounds like once out. Used my iphone 12 for 2 years and I’ve got no complaints whatsoever! Just the low brightness in broad daylight, always reloading apps while multi tasking and no telephoto lens. That’s why I upgraded to iphone 14 pro now! The upgrade was totally worth it!

Good points and good video, but I still recommend people go with the 13 over the 12 because the battery was much improved between the two.

I bought 12 mini after its release. It was my first iphone, up until then I was in android camp. Decided to mix it up a bit. Honestly, for me, it's the first phone that I'm not even contemplating of replacing after two years and am still happy with it. An though battery life could be better (was more or less an issue since day 1), other than that, the phone operates like brand new.

Hi Brandon, since I updated my iPhone 14 Pro to iOS 16.3.1 I have stutter screen while scrolling and in games, a white frame flashes when I open Lock Screen and battery drain. Do you think iOS 16.4 will fix it?

My 12 mini is still undamaged and going strong. Battery is 86% now, but it charges so quickly that doesn’t bother me. I also have an 18 watt power bank with me everywhere. Take a lot of photos, record sound (with Shure MV88) and video. But I take s lot of low light shots and the 13 mini of a buddy of mine just does a much better job.

Interesting that you found the low light shots to be much better on the iPhone 13 since I have tried both the 12 and 13 and found the difference negligeable in the average indoor lighting scenario. Unless by low light you mean near dark situation, where the 13 might have a more distinct advantage, though I would think it would be a question of which is less crappy at that point (i.e. the 13 would be bad and the 12 would be even worse), so neither would be particularly useful.

My 12 pro max is 86 percent had it for almost 2 years now

I have a 12 pro max bought when it came out, love it. I don't feel like I'm missing anything with the new ones, I might upgrade in a couple of years.

This iPhone is great. I just bought a iPhone 12 'as new' used in NZ as I'd upgraded from the iPhone SE (circa 2016). It fee;s snappy enough for me for the things I want to do. Great review btw mate.

Watched your video last week Brandon, and yesterday I bought a fourteen day return 128gb iPhone 12 for £360. We decided it was time my mum gave up her Pixel 6 as she struggled with it so much.

I’m still using my iPhone 12 I’m telling everybody this is the best iPhone to buy if you consider what you get for money you gave. I’m going to change my battery at the end of this year probably and I’m sure I’m going to keep it for the next two or three years at least maybe even more,that depend if future iPhones are going to have a huge difference or not

My first iPhone is 12 .. and I started following you since I bought

I bought a 12 recently to use as a work phone alongside my 13 Pro. It's a 64gb model so I didn't install a ton of 3rd party apps on it. I don't have TOO many complaints about battery life. The only time I have issues is I occasionally feel that the phone gets warm for a little while and that drains the battery kinda fast. I'm not sure what's causing this. If it continues, I might consider doing a restore on it. When I'm not having this issue the phone's endurance is definitely adequate for me.

Have had mine since Nov 2020. I'm at 84% battery health. I'm starting to notice it not lasting as long as it did, but it's still pretty good

I’ve had an iPhone 12 mini for two years and I have no complaints. I like the camera a lot, and the screen and performance are great. The battery health is declining (83% currently), but I’ll get it replaced rather than get a new phone. I’m not a fan of giant phones and since Apple seems disinclined to make another smaller phone, I’m going to make this one last.

I’m planning on getting a new 13 mini when they stop making them, with the theory that will keep me with a mini for the longest time. No way do I want a bigger one. Otherwise still using a 2.5 year old 12 mini and it’s still great

I have the 12 since it came out and still going strong! I use it every day for work and yes screen time will drain your battery out and it’s a key factor but if you are like me and carry a fast charging battery pack with 30mins you are back at 50%+ and you can finish the rest of the day! Not planning to upgrade for a few year I feel.. 😊

@@perseus31 Samsung's flagships with Exynos CPUs entered the chat. When I got my 12 mini I was pushing ~12h of battery time out of it's tiny battery with WiFi, 4G, Bluetooth and Location all turned on and mostly using 4G throughout the day. I needed a phone that was reliable enough that can push through most of the day because I was away from home 14-15h a day at least, the 12 mini took the abuse like a champ.

@@nonci6 If its 12 houts of screen on time, yes you are right its a mad battery. But I guess you ment 12 hours in TOTAL. If that 12h doesnt include more than 4 - 5 hours of battery, I cant say its a good score. I get 8 hours of SCREEN ON TIME when Im outside. So it may be enough for you, but I can say its lower than usual.

@@perseus31 in that 12 hours of total run time I had around 8-10 hours of screen time depending on how much I used the phone. I used to watch youtube, read emails and such on it.

I just bought the 12 it was cheap. I have been unemployed for 10 years so this was my first iphone since the 4s. Still figuring it out, only paid $360 new!

I bought the iPhone 12 when it was still the newest iPhone however I upgraded to a iphone 14 pro yesterday. The iPhone 12 was amazing the entire time I had it and never had any performance issues or battery issues at all, the camera is excellent. I agree that the 12 is still a good phone to buy in 2023. I will keep my 12 as a back up phone.

Great video as always! As you said, almost no difference in camera quality. But I don’t really have the eye to see the small difference you are mentioning. So a little suggestion for future videos, is i possible to highlight and explain the difference you see and talk about? Sorry for my english, non native speaker here.

Needed a second phone, and after paying $XXXX a couple years ago for a flagship Samsung that was less than thrilling despite the steep price, thought I would look at an older iPhone. The 12pro seemed such a great phone and value, so bought an Apple refurbished product and it does not disappoint! Sometimes design and tech come together especially well, and IMHO the 12 was one of those occasions. Great video!

What I loved about the 12 was how light it was. I have a 14 Pro now and it’s a brick. 😂

The reason I am paying for an iPhone 14 Pro Max instead of either the iPhone 14 Plus or iPhone 14 Pro is because I am used to bigger phones, along with my fondness of the new Dynamic Island feature.

i picked up my 12 on oktober 2022 i switched from huawei p 30 . my last iphone was iphone 3g :) and i am very happy with that . since than i bought me a used apple watch series 4 and new airpods pro 2. generation and i am very very happy with my setup now apple products work so good together and on the used market here in germany you can pick up very good deals

My gf still has my old iPhone 11 and I am planning on getting her a used but great condition iPhone 12 Pro Max for $400 from a friends co-worker. I've been teasing her she needs to give me back my 11 and upgrade lol hopefully she likes it :). Great video as always buddy.

I had the 12 pro max and it was great. Over time I realized it’s just too big. The 14 did nothing for me so I changed to the 13 mini. No regrets.

Besides the iPhone 3GS, every other iPhone I've owned has been an even number (4S, 6S, 8, 12, 14 pro max) The 12 is definitely up there as the phone I enjoyed the most, a close second would be the 8 which lasted me almost 4 years. The 12 felt like a great leap forward. Loving the 14 pro max but I still have a 12 for work and I don't feel like I'm downgrading much whenever I'm on it. Skipping an iPhone every other year seems to work well because there's usually a noticeable improvement with the new device.

I have the 12 mini and I have loved it for the past year and a half however in the past two weeks there has been noticeable battery drain. Not sure what is going on but if it doesn’t get fixed soon I may have to look into getting the 15 this fall

I also have one. I’m personally just going to get a battery replacement since the battery health is at 78% and I’d advise you to do the same! They obviously don’t sell a Mini anymore and it’s still more than fast enough

Lol it's updates... More updates makes battery drain faster on previous models even though the battery size are same.

I am still rocking the iPhone 12 right now the product red one 64gb model. So far it has been pretty great even on the latest software update. Just battery life is okay enough.

@@fijiwill2237 I might actually switch over to the samsung galaxy a53 5g or the a54 for my next phone of choice since I have noticed the battery life is not that great anymore.

I have an iPhone12pm and love it. The one downside is the screen dims in bright sunlight making it almost impossible for outdoor photography in the summer.

It’s nice to see you make a video that shows your face…great content.

I had the 12 mini and the battery was so bad that I ended up upgrading to the 13 pro the next year. Design change was great though.

​@@BrandonButch the battery life hasn't been a huge issue on my 12 as 5-6 hours is good enough for me to get through a day with, but one thing that I have noticed is the large amount of minor, but annoying glitches I've had with it. coming to IOS 16, I don't know if they also effect the 13's and 14's, but many of them I haven't seen being brought up on social media, like the dumb IOS 16 wallpaper that will randomly have a line through the middle where the layer that can cover a small portion of the bottom right side of the time is non-existent on the bottom half, along with making the time fond size smaller.

@@noahklassen1695 having the exact same issue with battery. Never been good form the start, like always has been an average one. I dont think i have experienced the same issue as you did with the wallpaper but i have other problemscan. Overall the phone feels slow, sometimes frame dropping even doing minor stuff like swipping the control center, closing apps, using the phone outside with direct sunlight too, things that i have not experienced with any other iphone before. Even my friends 11´s work better than mine as one day we left our phones in the car at the beach, when we came back they were all kinda hot, but only mine was lagging AF because throttling. Then i completely understand that my phone lives in perpetual mini throttle state as it is even with minor tasks, i couldnt make other conclusion. Hate this phone since i purchased it sealed last year. BTW, no, factory reset didnt help.

I disagree, the best value in the line up is clearly the iPhone 13 , the added ram, longevity ( thanks to it sharing the same processor as the 14s) , much better battery life , extra camera features portrait , cinematic , sensor shift stabilization and double the storage at 128gb. The 12 is great if it’s only what can fit in your budget but the 13 is the sweet spot. Also , most used iPhone aren’t going to have warranty or the ability to add AppleCare, if you crack the display you are going to spend 300 to fix it , not a good suggestion imo

I understand this is mostly due to the iPhone 12 going for 400 or less on the used market. I just am wary of the used market because you never know what can happen. More importantly repairs are so expensive even battery replacements just got more expensive as of March 1st. Yeah I agree it’s just not worth it. If you want a cheap iPhone just get the iPhone 11 or the SE2. The 12 isn’t worth it even used because if you spent a little bit more you could just get the 13. I especially disagree when he said to sell your iPhone 11 and upgrade to the 12. You have to skip at least three generations of iPhones to get a significant upgrade these days.

iPhone 12 is the worst of battery, and their chipset are bad when you are using multitask. It very hot, when you play game mobile legend or codM. iPhone 13 is the best when you want play game or playing music even it hot, the chipset will not throttle too much.

iPhone 13 have same ram size (4Gb) as iPhone 12

Thanks for the great content, have a question i have a iphone 12 pro max and just found out they give out little more radiation then other phones should i be worried? i have read some stuff saying it will not do any harm to your health.

The 13 and 14 get a brighter display and that would have been nice that it was brighter on day one… I hated the notch at first coming from an iPhone 8, but my 12 has been a great. Lens flare in photos is an issue though. My battery health is at 86% and I’ve had it for 2 years 3 months.

As an iPhone 12 user since the time it came out, I’ve noticed that the display was far better than the iPhone XR. Managing screen brightness when outside isn’t that good, but it’s just good to a certain level that just generally you can see the screen. Camera quality is perfect from my perspective for the most part since every time photos are taken. Compared to the iPhone XR, it just seemed great in detail both in capturing good audio and video. The ability for it to autofocus is great. The sapphire glass just makes the device look nice and durable (at an extent). It’s really comfortable to handle, especially if a slim, thin, and gripped case is put onto the device. All in all, the battery life of the device is great, especially if iOS 16 or later isn’t installed to make me use the phone with that type of software to make me get my iPhone prone to getting damaged battery.

@@JediWebSurf it’s just that although the capacity of the software is at a small size and brings in new features, compared to iOS 15.6 and iOS 15.7, battery drainage is far quicker and iOS 16 [so far] tends to increase the temperature of the device that is in use. This is why before I could switch to an Apple device (or even just update my device’s software), I would first listen to reviews and see how their performances affect a certain device. Update: if the device can run on iOS 16.4.1, then all is good.

i’m upgrading to an iphone 12 from my old decrepit iphone x and i’m so excited and i’m glad that ur opinion is that it’s the best one to buy in 2023. my carrier sold it to me for $200 and it’s brand new. i didn’t even realize how much more expensive it was directly from apple. my iphone x is currently at 73% battery capacity which i didn’t even think to check back on until u mentioned it in this video lol

I went from a 5c to a 12mini and I hope to hold onto this one for a long time.

I think the iPhone 12 pro changed the game, not necessarily the 12, but just my opinion 🤷‍♂️

still using iPhone 11. Screen replaced twice & battery once. Dropped from a 115kmph speeding bike. Ahh man, its still the beast in& out.

I bought IPhone 12 as my first IPhone last year. I do not regret it at all. Good performance at everything. Only thinking in upgrading in about 2/3 years.

Just got a brand new iPhone 12 Pro that’s still eligible for AppleCare and has 100% battery capacity. This iPhone has been great and gets me 8hrs SOT. This is my second one and plan on keeping this for a few more years.

I got brand new for $485 but its 64gb… Bought 64gb just coz its cheaper and I don’t used to click so many photos or videos and main reason is i found a satisfaction and happiness in getting a new product instead of a used one.

I started this year with the 12, the only issues I was having were age related but the only reason I upgraded is because it eventually broke on me, if it hadn’t however I would probably will be using it.

Still rocking my iphone12 bought in 2020. This was my first iPhone and I absolutely love it.

The iPhone 12 mini is a great phone with a very good camera. That said, it's heavy compared to the iPhone SE 2016 and I don't use cameras often. I'll be moving my sim card back to the iPhone SE when the Mini 12 auto unlocks next month.

Just got a 12 mini from a SE 2020! I love it so far!!

Bought mine in 2020 and have no plans on updating it. It does what I need it to do, no more - no less.

Bought my iPhone 12 in 2021 and was considering to update to the 14 Pro but this video made me feel better lol my 12 is in perfect condition, battery at 88% and can last about 10-12 hrs I'm gonna keep it for another year or more :)

My iPhone 12 only started slowing down when I updated to iOS 16 :( Battery health is decent so it is t that yet. Subsequent updates have fixed certain things but the camera and keyboard lag still pop up once in a while

Is the brightness issue in daylight better on the 13 or same as the 12 ?
