Thanks Grace, got a lot from the video. I had an issue only today where Chat GPT hallucinated and it's made me wonder how many other times thats happened. I'm just starting to go deeper into Perplexity and your video has helped a lot.
@graceleungyl

Welcome! :) ChatGPT hallucinates often because it's not based on the most updated data, unlike Perplexity that has its online LLMs. I see they both have different strengths and it depends on the task purpose, I'll do a more deep-dive between the 2, stay tuned!

I believe I've been doing all this with copilot within microsoft edge......which is the only reason I started using edge.....

Ah haha 😀 I also use Bing more than before (because of copilot initially), but then I noticed Bing has indeed improved a lot in search experience, which is good news!

Amazing, is it support RTL ?
@graceleungyl

Welcome! May I know what RTL stands for? a language or a file format? Generally, I found Perplexity is not that good at coding, not to mention it has limited support to different file formats, so keep this in mind.
Hi Grace thanks for this video. Look, I am a die-hard Gpt plus user and i write it for professional news articles. I am still struggling to pick between GPT4o and Perplexity. Please advice?
@graceleungyl

I haven’t subscribed to GPT plus so I’m not sure if my answer reflect 100%. As I compare with GPT vs Perplexity, GPT tends to hallucinate a lot and you need to do lots of fact checking. I find Perplexity’s response makes “much more sense” and it grabs my context better. I believe that’s because of its web browsing ability from from sources. If your use case needs to spend lots of time doing research, looking for media, fact checking, synthesizing research data for your news article, I definitely see Perplexity has the advantage over GPT-4o. Also, if you’re heavily using GPT plugins, then it may make the switch harder. I would recommend you try using the free Perplexity first (alongside GPT4 plus) and see if it benefits you on the tasks first before consider subscribe.

@@graceleungyl thanks for the reply. Yes, I have tested it out for 2 weeks and because I am not pro I cannot use all the functions to make informed decisions. Yes, comparing gpt 3 with Perplexity is not a fair comparison. I leaned there's a model on Perplexity with a limit of 50 or 60 prompts per day. What can you tell about that?
@graceleungyl
Ай бұрын
Yah... or just try perplexity pro for a month to make the decision :) For the cap, it's more than that, 600 prompt uses/day, see here: www.perplexity.ai/hub/faq/what-is-perplexity-pro. So whenever you're using the advanced models like GPT4 or pro search, a credit is deducted. I would say it's similar to the existing usage cap from GPT plus and should be pretty enough from my POV.

@@graceleungyl I asked specific questions about my article both GPT 4o and Perplexicity and GPT 4o did a better job. In fact, Perplexicity denied a particular subject in my article. It says it "The article does not appear to contain any information about ...". It is advertised Perplexity is better in research but it turns out not. I know this because I wrote this article myself.
@graceleungyl

Thanks for sharing that!! That’s helpful to know. It triggers me to think if it will lead to the same result on Perplexity Pro with GPT-4o model turned on🤔, although I tend to believe there should be nuance compared with the native GPT4o.

🤔 Oh really..? Tell me more. I know Perplexity was first started relying on Bing's search index, but I think it's no longer the case (or become less reliant). Have I missed anything...
So its updated more currently than chatgpt4?
@graceleungyl
26 күн бұрын
When you say “updated”, do you mean getting more up-to-dated data to generate response? If yes, from what I test it vs chatgpt3.5, it is. Perplexity use Online LLMs for grabbing most updated info. I tend to believe it’s also the case in chatgpt4, but they 2 have different positions and it greatly depends on what you use it for.
Does it have amazing hallucinations?
😗
Have you tested it for factual accuracy?
@m12652
23 күн бұрын
Ps... I just asked it what it thought about the UN conclusion that israel is committing genocide in Palestine. The first response completely denied any such finding. When I asked why it had lied and not mentioned the findings on humans rights violations it basically apologised saying it "made a mistake"... Now if artificial intelligence is supposed to reflect human intelligence I'd say "good job"... it tells lies and calls them mistakes just like most people 🙄🍉🏴
@graceleungyl
21 күн бұрын
Yah, def not 100% factual accuracy and it has its limitations like every AI engines do. Particular when it's related to figures/statistics, sometimes it does return different summary vs the original source. So always do fact check when use.

@@graceleungyl I've been testing with politically sensitive questions. For example asked ChatGPT "how many Afghan people were killed by America in "the troubles"... it answered "about 2,000", when i called it a lier it said "official estimates are between 2 and 3 million. I notice it always errs on the side of BS...
Some feedback: I really like the content but the pronunciations and sentence structure can be a little tough to understand at times. You could try practicing with the new voice mode of ChatGPT for some quicker feedback and iteration. I don't mean that you should worry about it too much. Your content is understandable. But practice is always good.

@@graceleungyl I noticed the pronunciation differences right away, but that's because I'm a former IELTS examiner and I can hear small mistakes in pronunciation and grammar. Most people won't notice, except for the several times when a word was hard to understand. You speak a little quickly, so maybe by slowing down a little this problem will go away. OTOH, it seems that a lot of KZreadrs speak quickly! Maybe that's a style, or maybe that's their natural speaking speed. I teach IELTS on italki (search using the name "Buswell"). I'm not a specialist in teaching pronunciation or grammar, but because of my IELTS experience I am good at hearing small mistakes. To prove to you that I know what I'm talking about, if you want I can listen to this again and send you a message with the words that need to be pronounced correctly. Most of my experience is with Chinese speakers, but from the spelling of your last name I'm guessing you are from Hong Kong or Singapore and have been in Canada for a long time. I hear a bit of a British accent, which is another reason I'm guessing Hong Kong or Singapore. This is the first of your videos I have watched, but I'll subscribe to get more. KZread recommended it to me because I have watched vids on using AI for writing.
