Why I Still DESPISE NYC After All These Years- The Great Dirt Bike Massacre

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Once the greatest city on Earth, New York City has devolved to a dystopian cesspool where drug addicts and criminals are coddled while citizens riding scooters are considered antisocial menaces that need to be eradicated at all costs.
In a place where children and animals, the sick and the elderly suffer in poverty, the city government and NYPD celebrate the destruction and waste of crushing perfectly saleable "dirt bikes" to rid the city of this menace forever.
SCREW that toilet and all who oversee it.

I'm Retired NYPD lieutenant. love your channel but you are wrong. not about my city sucking but about the dirt bikes. If the motorcycle is street legal, registered insured, inspected , and the rider is licensed, there is no problem with them being on the streets. The problem is that a dirt bike is not street legal and can only be ridden on private property. nyc has almost no private property to support that. the riders become a menace, riding on sidewalks and wrong way on one ways .violating all sorts of traffic rules in a place that is traffic chaos. if you resold them in ny they would just end up on the street again. nobody in nyc has 20 achers to ride these things on and they end up doing wheelies on ocean parkway in brooklyn. they are crazy loud in a highly congested area. the riders should absolutely be arrested and fined for every violation of the law they commit. I had not a problem doing it. Bill Bratton made the point that robbers dont pay the fare for the subway. if you think that the lawlessness for the people who ride these bikes stops with riding, you are mistaken, they are perps. they have no respect for the law or fellow citizens. send me a message, glad to talk.

William, I completely agree with nearly everything you said, but those are not just "dirt bikes" in that pile. Looking at the pics I see many...if not the majority are small displacement scooters. LORD KNOWS I have plenty of experience with NYPD overshooting the intent of many laws and regulations, and have witnessed them going for the low hanging fruit and easy collars too many times for me to not know that is SOP. Revenue collection is job 1. Common sense city policy should be to ENCOURAGE the use of scooters and small cycles by the general population, not put on a display like this that paints all two wheelers with the same brush as hoodlums and hooligans. The city has a CRIME problem, not a "Dirt Bike" problem. Catch those guys...shoot them on the spot for all I care, but don't grandstand and virtue signal at the expense of people just trying to get by with what may be the only transportation they can afford.

@@UncleTonysGarage here in Ontario the local cops made up project noise maker to demonize anything with a loud exhaust. Going after some old car that a single mom is going to and from work with, with a stolen cat, the cop would love to pull that over, just the exhaust gives them reason to do a full vehicle saftey check. Chances are they find another ticket able offense and the plates are pulled and car is towed. All about making money at that point.

You're deflecting the main point of UT's video. Destroying scooters for the purpose of political theater in a community experiencing rampant violent crime is criminally absurd, and speaks volumes about the values (lack of), and priorities of these so called "officials". I'm a contractor who spends 95% of my working hours in NYC. Most of that time is driving to different accounts. I agree with Tony on most of what he said, but would like to add a little perspective: most of the dirt bikes you see in NYC are not road legal and used primarily for joy riding on the roads and the operators ignore most traffic laws. Often wrong way on the street, wheelies and all, and to be honest, I still think its fun to watch. I don't even get that annoyed when they do the dirt bike/quad takeovers and block the streets with 30+ unregistered vehicles, despite the traffic. Now here is where my double standard is showing; the scooters are just as bad as the electric bikes and e-scooters. Riding on sidewalks, wrong way in bike lanes, and through red lights and hitting cars and pedestrians all the time. Even the former mayor who will not be named was hit by an electric scooter while walking on the sidewalk.. At least the dirt bikes are fast enough to get out of the way, its amazing how much traffic one slow scooter or bike can create. You have to realize that they are not rounding up the legally registered ones that delivery drivers use, just the ones that are run without plates. Everyone I come across hates them, but will of course still happily collect their Uber Eats and DoorDash orders from a man on a scooter...

I am 55 years old and work on cars for a living. My 03 Yukon gets at best 13 mpg and my budget is getting blown away by high gas prices. Solution? I got an old beach cruiser bicycle and cobbled together a 50 cc 2 stroke engine to it. It runs great, hits 20 maybe 25 mph and for $7 I can ride this thing anywhere for two or three days. That's to work and back and more. In fact on average I can get to work faster than in my car. The city I live in (Lafayette Louisiana) has a few bike lanes but not enough to get me to work and back and sidewalks are intermittent and often sketchy. I have lights and a helmet. I stay off to the side to keep from impeding traffic. Still, the drivers around me are hostile. They even get aggressive. The police all but ignore me. Honestly, if this is the way of the world and our country I feel bad for others who share my plight and are getting creative with their resources just to get by. If this trend continues outside of NYC I shudder to think of how the government is going to act when more folks like me are commuting on smaller more economical forms of transportation.

I totally agree. I grew up in WNY. I was public enemy #1 with my dirt bike. I had one cop bust me riding in a field 50ft from my driveway. He came back 3 times to tell my parents. My mother asked if i was bothering anyone or doing damage, He said no & my mother proceeded to tell him to just leave me alone.

Gas prices there are massively high, parking permits, garbage roads, and economy based on picking and winning losers has made the average hot rodder run for the hills to greener grass. Yeah, it looks bad, but were these sellable as anything but scrap? Did I see rows of other bikes not crushed? Nowadays dirt bikes and quads are operated by less than lawful folks. They swarm roads hit people and cars and have no accountability. Lots of these "dirt bikes" have street tires installed on them. It's not some kids looking to trail ride or make some jumps over stuff. Now why they won't sell off these things or even find the lawful owners if stolen, I cannot say. The same goes for guns found or confiscated, could be an expensive item that still goes to the furnace or given to Davey Jones. They cry we need more money... NYC the modern Sodom and Gomorrah, yucc. The junkie is quietly getting high in the corner somewhere and then passes out in an alley or stairwell. Which is worse all come down to how how annoying it is to the average New Yorker. The crusher video is a publicity stunt. You know that. "See what I did?? I made NY more civilized." And yes, in a couple of years everyone and their Aunt Tilly from Bayside will be running electric scooters. Old schoolers like us are... DOOMED.

Perhaps not being as involved a dirt biker , you might not be familiar with the inner city illegal stunt riders . They tend to be inner city African American Young males , stunt riding Mx bikes on the street with no helmet or protective gear at all. A good amount of the bikes are stolen and destroyed too- not to mention the injuries and fatalities- wasted talent too as many of the young men involved could be some serious Mx racers if they applied themselves. Baltimore has the largest presence of them, but Dc and NYC had also . It was against this backdrop that DeBlasio made his grandstanding stunt . Of course, he didn’t address the social issue - that’s not done anymore- but appeased his base of elite white liberals by so figuratively crushing the evil dirt bikes.

I concede that the NYC mayor ordered something excessive, perhaps absurd. But, for you to be fair, you must understand how much MANY others totally HATE DIRT BIKES. (not quiet scooters). .. The comment above by William Brady is "spot-on", an articulate rationale on this issue.

I grew up on Long Island, so I feel your pain. If you rode four-wheeler on Long Island you were public enemy number 1. I moved to South Carolina in 2007 and haven't looked back.

Couldn’t agree more, born in Brooklyn 64 years ago, raised in Queens and living on LI. NY is a cesspool, unfortunately family keeps me here. Quality of life is a joke, cost of living is horrendous, only good thing is leaving it.
