John this video made me impulsed to comment. Your videos years ago in Cincinnati and beyond helped my recovery from full neuropathy. I learned how to walk again. I learned how to write again. I learned how to live again. I discovered andys channel, and myself being one of the few to ask him if he was okay in his falling skateboarder videos. I had the balls to hop on a skateboard for the first time in my mid 30's and immediately broke my wrist lol. And I'm happy. Your positivity was a driving force when I discovered you on KZread whilst laying in a hospital bed when I was repeatedly told I would never walk again. Now years later I am ever thankful for your vlogs. Just keep doing you man. Whatever you do, just know you're appreciated in ways you can't imagine. You deserve all the happiness that life can give you. I respect your grind and I can't thank you enough for the positivity you have spread to myself and thousands of others. Keep doing you man. :)

As an older skateboarder myself (31) I’ve been skating Since age 15 and decided to take a step back from high impact skateboarding When I turned 23 years old. I decided to do this because I wanted to preserve my body and be there for my family when they need me like my aging mother. Skateboarding flatground has been a main thing I do not only because I love it but I can see myself doing flatground for a much longer time than doing high impact skateboarding. So to my people out there who are getting older and got more obligations to family and work remember there’s a lot of fun and longevity in skateboarding flatground!!

The one's that are here to watch your life will always be here John. I found you through skateboarding, but I'm 40 with lots of health problems, so I kinda live vicariously through you and other creators on here. I obviously have my own life, but it's awesome to see how someone else lives, and it doesn't matter if I'm watching you skate, doing interviews, making new businesses and anything else that you film man. I honestly wish you the best and hope you find what it is you're looking for from one father to another. But, if I can give you any small amount of advice as a father, you'll never feel enough, but thats why you get up and do your best for your family every day.

It’s not something you can do professionally throughout adulthood. Bodies get fragile , children need insurance (adults too!), you gotta save for retirement (social security may not exist when you retire, sorry get a 401k). Skateboarding can still be a part of your life but you gotta think about your family and your future.

Constantly thinking (and acting towards) how you can provide more for your family, how you can become a more responsible and better dad, how you can do more of your part in the family thing. That is the most non-selfish thing you can do for your loved ones, and you're describing yourself as immature... The word you're looking for my man is not "immature". It's "awesome"! I resonate with this. It's interesting to hear you mention the idea of skateboarding having an income cap. This is something I strongly agree with. Around five years ago, I came across an interview with Rob Dyrdek where he discussed making the bulk of his money outside of skateboarding (and he only lost money within skating). However, it's crucial for all skateboard entrepreneurs to remember that while skateboarding may have its limits in terms of income potential, this shouldn't deter skaters from pursuing their dreams of starting a skate company. On the contrary, it's essential to take the earnings generated from their skate venture and invest them wisely into assets. This approach allows you to continue pursuing your passion for skateboarding (owning a skate shop, skatepark, having a KZread channel, etc) while also building up recurring income from ventures outside the skate industry. Mikey Taylor is a perfect example of this strategy, leveraging his income as a pro skater to launch Saint Archer and subsequently venture into real estate. Thanks for creating this video John!

As someone who’s known you for a long time. I’m just happy to see you want to move forward into more things you enjoy man. I’ve slowed down skating but find ways to get the same feeling from streaming on twitch and just creating videos for myself. I understand what you’re feeling though, people say they watch you for you but then change up content and it’s dead but the true supporters and people who care will always watch because they truly enjoy your content. 💜 Keep Killing It!

As hard as you worked to make skateboarding your profession, we (your fans) mainly got to see you at the top. Now we get to see you at the bottom! Its inspiring to see somebody work and fail and progress daily. We love ya, John! ❤

Welcome to dadhood! The thoughts you're having are the prerequisites when going down the path of becoming a good dad. You will find balance. I keep saying this is the year for "skate dads". There's a lot of us out here.

Hi John, long time sub from both your channel and revive crew. I went through parenthood recently as well and whilst it maybe can feel like you are making a sacrifice, you are honestly dealing with a blessing. Enjoy the kid, your wife, and the process. You are in a position where you are lucky to have the financial freedom to develop as a person, go for it. Keep your hobbies for you. Best of luck from one dad to another.

I am older, and not a skateboarder... but I loved watching your passion of it and of your graphic art. originally I found you from watching sara's videos which i am still a big fan of, but I have also enjoyed seeing the collaboration and growth of you two. I look forward to seeing your next adventure. Congrats on everything up to this point and Good luck on the next journey! and on a side note, people will always have opinions and criticisms , but as long as its the decision you have made for YOU, and your family, and not for others.. then its the right decision!

I randomly stumbled upon one of your videos about shark wheels from 7 years and it was a whole vlog style thing with you and your gf and it was a great vibe so I clicked on your profile and see this. Sad how growing up kills the genuine happiness you had

So proud of you. I don't know you personally or anything but it's hard to make the call where you acknowledge that the thing your making isn't for the joy of it anymore. Only skate for the love of skating. It makes me happy to see you evolve and continue to find whatever makes you happy while earning your livelihood. Congrats on the new addition to the family! All the best!
