I have an interview today and I watch your first Sephora at Kohl’s video. And this one is only a year apart from this video. Now I’m scared to go to mine 😰

You’re gorgeous girl! I’m a BTL/ Store Manager at S@K and definitely have a lot of insight to share. There’s the good and the bad, but being in management at Sephora is really worth it in my opinion, even if it means you have to transfer to another location like I did.

You should apply at a free standing Sephora. It's a different experience. I just got hired a few weeks ago at the second largest Sephora in the country, which is located in San Diego, Ca.

Wow! well from everything you said it actually sounds perfect for me. im an actor as well and veterinary nurse and decided to work at sephora instead as my main job right now. im really excited and it sounds perfect for me. I also am taking a break from acting so focusing on work from what u saif sounds good in my favour, and i dont mind working holidays because i don't celebrate them. im about to start next month for a new store, i needed a job that wasn't as strenuous as a emergency hospital and also my previous cruise performer job that i had a not so great experience with behind the scenes. Honestly really excited and hope it works out for me ! and since it is part time i hope to schedule around that for anything else i wanna do, even if more acting jobs come up for me. thankyou for the video because it actually made me feel itll work in my favor for my situation!

Yup if the scheduling person H2 didn’t like u they’d fuck with your schedule! There is favoritism for sure!!! Don’t work at Sephora at Kohls!! It’s nothing like the free standing store!!! It’s a mess!!! WARNING ⚠️ you’ll be mad!! All of this video is alllll negative that outweighs the good a big TRAP!!! Don’t do it!!!

Retail isnt for everyone. You have to have a genuine love for customer service and cosmetics/ skincare in this case, or it’s gonna seem like too much work

I know this is old, but what were the hours of part time shifts? Working 8 hours a week would be fine for me because I work a full time job during the day. Will their part time hours be ok for someone who works full time during week days? Did they have shifts that start as late as 6PM or as early as 5am? Also what did you wear for the interview? I have an interview next week yikes 😬

Hey no worries! Earliest shift was 6 for inventory - they’d have people come and they did it wrong so we had to reorganize everything haha but that was only once or twice while I was there, and on of my coworkers was in esthetician school full time so she only worked nights and weekends but almost didn’t get the job bc lack of availability. I’d say go for it especially if you’re looking for part time bc maybe your store will be understanding. My store could go anywhere from 5hrs in a week to 35hrs with no explanation or care for schedule we all had to talk to the lady multiple times and she’d pressure us to take more shifts and open our schedules or give us attitude when we had conflicts, which was very annoying.

Hi! Great video! Thanks! So what would your advice be to someone who just got an offer, but the pay is less than you wanted and you definitely have grounds to ask for more?! I feel they low balled me and there isn’t a way to “negotiate” online….any advice? Thanks!

Thank you! I’d definitely talk to the hiring manager asap and schedule an in person meeting, try not to negotiate or meet via phone bc I feel it’s less personal but if you’re face to face they’ll maybe feel more pressure to take you seriously and consider. It’ll also help to know your goal from meeting, will you be okay with negotiating in the middle or are you gonna be willing to walk away if they don’t compromise - just so you’ll have the extra self assurance when negotiating with them. So gorgeous, thank you for this informative video. May I ask was your pay weekly and what did your checks look like. I start in like 3 wks, the store is still under construction. I’m excited but I’m also disappointed on the pay. I’m a licensed cosmetologist and been in the industry over 10 yrs. My interview went great she said they offered me the maximum pay. 15.50 is not it!! Especially coming from getting paid 28 in dental. But I wanted part time at Sephora because im starting a salon soon and both jobs would be my ideal schedule.

Hi love, thank you! I really really hate to hear that they only offered you that. My pay was $16 with a bit of MUA experience and some retail experience. I know other older coworker friend who who got $17 with no beauty experience and I believe my friend who is also pursuing her esthetician license was getting around $16-$18 (don’t exactly remember). I had a licensed MUA coworker who was still in college and they told her they’d give her more since she had experience which was $15, another thought she was paid the least and we found another coworker who was teaching full time and could only work weekends was only getting $11. 😬 I don’t know what their criteria for pay is or how they decide, but you definitely should be making at least $17 in my opinion :/ So hopefully if you’re there long enough you can negotiate a raise… although people who tried at my store were ignored. It also could just depend on the state you’re in too. Good luck I hope you have a good experience there and congrats on starting the salon! 💛

I quit already. It’s been only 2 weeks and was the most dysfunctional and disorganized job I’ve ever had. Of course it will vary by location, but my location was terrible and they wonder why they can’t keep workers.

@@TiaraSparrow My first day I was scheduled to work with the BTL, but they called off. They sent me out to work the Sephora ALONE with no training. I had no idea where anything was or how to do anything. I didn’t even get an apology. This has 100% been my worst job experience. I’m glad these videos brought me to your channel, but Sephora + Kohls is something I want to forget 😂

When you did work there and if you see this comment can you let me know if your team was able to make samples to bring home? I’m not talking about the vendor samples they send for customers I’m talking about the ones that you make. Were you able to make and bring them home if you could answer that I would be ever so grateful.

Omg love this was a whole situation at my store! To start we were able to make samples but there was a whole situation where our team lead kept her eyes on one of the girls and didn’t really like her. We found out that girl happened to damage out testers and bring her own bottles to fill for samples and our team lead asked LP to watch her on camera..lmao so overall long story short she reported her and we got banned from making ourselves samples even thought the rest of us were innocent. Once the girl was fired we still weren’t allowed, but they hired two new girls and would let them while the rest of us were still told we couldn’t. It was a bunch of BS honestly

My biggest issue was the racist! AP officer who racially profiled customers and because I called him out he started treating me differently and I knew and my team ( I was team leader), saw this and said they’re trying to get you out. So two days ago they said I’m fired for bringing home samples from testers! And I hardly ever made any! Absolutely targeted me!! I’m convinced and I almost repoyhim but he just lost his wife and I didn’t want to be that person! And for fear! This is why nobody has reported him yet for his behavior of being a racist and he doesn’t hide it. I truly believe in karma, and this person deserves the day he made for himself. It was a huge difference working in a Sephora and Kohl’s. It says different is black and white. No pun intended.

OMG this sounds just like the girl I mentioned in my other comment, she had a complaint at LP because he’d make inappropriate jokes with us and talk about customers in a really inappropriate way and the team lead already didn’t like the girl who reported it, they didn’t do anything or file an official complaint for her then she was fired for samples and they said she took too many and brought her own bottles etc. but she said she didn’t so it was a whole thing where we didn’t know what was going on… this is scary similar and disturbing girl

Tiara I don't remember if you said it in your video but how much did you get paid hourly if you don't mind me asking because I believe they pay commission too??

Hey love! So I only got paid like $16 which is decent for southeast but definitely wasn’t the highest for part time at my store, and no commission 💀I was offered tips multiple times but we were told we weren’t allowed to accept them either

I was suprised to hear how low the pay is but then I live in California 😂

Yeah I was going to say in CA we make way more than what you mentioned. We start at $17 at my store. And that was for someone straight out of high school with no prior work history! But our discount is only 15% unless we are having an employee event where it went up to 35%. They did those every other month. Plus if it fell on a Sephora vib sale you got that extra 20% added on (or 30% if Sephora brand). We do have the same hour issues. The Lowest I’ve gotten is 12 hours and yes it’s annoying when they promise at least 20 at orientation. And yes we do sometimes get scheduled to close alone but our store isn’t that busy so it’s not to bad. Thanks for the video!

I forgot about all of the discounts, but you’re 100% on it. & Our store was probably busier bc we started with our grand opening (lowkey put the store together) so it was new/ only Sephora in my city and the nearest one outside of ours from us was in ATL at least 40 minutes away lol Thanks for the comment and for watching! 💛
