Hey Danny, I really appreciate that. The Job hunt has been successful and I start the new job a couple days after this one is officially over! As to the KZread thing, I'm very grateful for your sentiment, a sentiment that seems to be shared by a lot of the folks commenting here. You guys are what make this KZread venture rewarding and its not so much that I feel obligated to put out videos and answer comments, but I get a lot of joy from the two way conversation that comes out of the videos and subsequent comments. I've learned a lot from people through this medium. Thanks for the comment, Danny. Take care.

Danny, we're at the same time in life when you don't expect people to give you that much of attention because you know they're busy or dealing with their problems. Some of my friends get upset when I don't have time for them or they don't get I have a wife and a house to take care. Haha. Regards.

Our old Army motto remains the best: Mission First-People Always, Zack. Thank you for the service you and your family have given. My late husband and I both were over 26 years. He died on AD following Gulf War, I ETS'd to finish service in USAR to stabilize youngest son for his last 3 Hi. Sch'l. yrs. Oldest son is over 21 yrs. and still serving. I've been out 12 yrs. and still miss putting on the uniform, but not getting up at 0310Hrs. Take care of business and family; we will be here when you have time and desire to reconnect. Hooah!

You are an inspiration, when a person loves the military it is a very hard thing to leave and transition into some new thing. I was privileged to serve as a Chaplain for 24 years in three components of the Army, Reserves, Active and Guard... but beyond that i have been privileged to work for the past 9 years with transitioning Veterans. If you ever need help send me a note. There is a band of comrades ready to assist all across the county. We all bleed red, so even Marines need help once in a while, but in reality they probably help all Veterans more than any other branch. Blessings

20 yrs active! Congratulations on finishing your career in the military, first saw your videos on a 500 dollar shed and picked up a scent of military coming from you and saw the quanson hut looking shed and that confirmed my suspicion and now you say your retiring, please note the v.a hospitals are nothing even close to the care you get now so if you need anything done do it before you retire, i did 6 yrs from 79-85 and a day dont go by I regret I did not stay in and retire at 36 or do 30 yrs and retire at 46 but I hauled mail for post office as a contract postal employee for 30 yrs zero pension but worked a hundred hours every week in truck, so congrats on an excellant job well done your still a young healthy guy so you are very blessed just subbed, some of my best memories are from the military back in the late 70s and early 80s can't never go back.

It's rare that I'll make a comment on any KZread video's that I watch, but after watching a few video's of yours, this one being the most recent, I wanted to tell you that you do a really good job. You really try to take your time to explain the details of whatever project you're working on and it shows that you really care about trying to help others with their own project's. I'm sorry for your loss and I thank you for your service to this great country we call home. I'm looking forward to watching many more of your upcoming video's.

And I liked your comments about the "Cornerstone." Thank you Rodney, I really appreciate that. The truth is, it really was a pleasure to have served. I got to see things and places most only dream of and I got paid to do it. My military life was a lot less grueling than a lot of folks you see but I can say with 100% certainty that the encouragement and gratitude from folks like yourself is what fuels our guys and gals over there (wherever that may be). Thank you for being part of the support that is my America.

Good luck to you, Zack. I'm looking for work right now too and finding the market to be exceptionally strong (I've had a few good interviews and I'm expecting an offer soon). I'm sure you'll be able to find something soon too. As far as interview tips, always draw from your experience with specific examples when answering questions and try to keep things brief. Employers want to know more about how you handle yourself than they do about how you would handle their specific job. They can teach you the job, but they can't teach you to be a problem solver or a team player or whatever they're looking for. There are lists of common interview questions that you can review so you can start to think about some of your answers or at least good situations that you can draw from (maybe your experiences tech school would be good to draw from? Maybe you really had some tough situations on a deployment where you think you really grew? etc..). Common questions I'm almost always asked are "Tell me about a time when you overcame a difficult situation" and "Tell me about a time when you had to work with someone you didn't like". Employers will ask you straight forward questions about your skills, but it's the personality questions that are going to require some thought and good responses. With a military career as long as yours I'm positive you've got plenty of excellent experience to look back on and pull from if you can spend a little time thinking about specific examples. I've worked with lots of former military guys that had very good careers after retiring so you do have a lot of value to private employers even if you're unfamiliar with that process. It's also a good idea to ask them questions about their business to show that you're engaged and interested in the job. I almost always ask why the position is open (are older employees retiring? Are they expanding? Do they just need different skills?), what the history of the company is (if they didn't already tell you), what has the career path of others in that position been like (promoted? stay put? do they quit after a few years?) and finally I ask them what they thought of the interview shortly before I'm about to leave. Most employers will just smile and tell you everything was great, but a handful will give you valuable feedback and if you don't take the gamble of asking them you'll never hear it. Once again, good luck! Thanks for your service!

Wow, thank you very much for that advice, there's a lot of good stuff in there. I'm very fortunate in that my job hunt was relatively short and easy, years of networking and in general not being a jerk to people paid off and I very recently got the job offer I'd been waiting for. That, of course, didn't prevent me from going through all of the requisite process to get that offer. I'm very glad to not be straight out of school entering the workforce, man what a daunting thing that could be. Thanks again ~Z

Awesome! Glad to hear you've got something lined up already! I will tell you that it was a lot different when I got out of school. I finished college in 2006 and it took forever to find something in that economy and I jad to move 200 miles to get it and for low pay. I think things are much better now.

Well done! Retired from the Air Force 21 years ago, and can tell you there is wonderful life after military service. Thanks for serving our country, and suspect you'll always be serving in one way or another. Your openness and honesty in your work is a hallmark of your character and self-discipline. You're committed to telling the truth, and that's really refreshing. Here's the best career advice I can give you: Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Thank you for your service! We love our military family. Son is Navy Corpsman, brother #1 was Army time of peace?, brother #2 was Marine Desert Storm, Dad was Army. Korea. God bless America :) Your building project is really cool. We hope to see more in the future. We bought some land suited to camping and can't afford to go all out cabin yet. This looks like a do-able shelter while saving for it. A surprising amount of retired military and law enforcement go to driving school bus. Opportunity for various management positions open up. Safety Supervisor is a fun one. Look for a large national or international company for most job diversity. I found the mom and pop family owned transportation companies to be on the angry and hostile side as well as stingy. Perhaps your neck of the woods is different. Praying God's blessings and best job ever to you!

Hey Zack, Please do yourself a favor and forget about youtube for the next 6 weeks, and just get on with the important things in your life. I have said to you once before that I think you are the nicest guy in woodworking youtube land, and no doubt you are that way in real life. I would like to say that you owe us nothing but for the real people in your life, family friends and work, you maybe owe them all your attention. Once things are all good, have another go. My suggestion to you if you feel you need to do videos, why not just a weekly 5 min Vlog, DiResta style. Just an update, a bit of footage and we all get to spend time with you. Thanks Zac, all the best mate.
