Why I Prefer Berkley's Whopper Plopper (Massachusetts Summer Topwater Bass Fishing)

Спорт

At this point I'm fairly confident the Berkley Choppo is a superior lure to the Whopper Plopper for a number of reasons. Today I went post-rainstorm Bass fishing at a lake in Massachusetts for some Topwater Bass. Here's what happened

to all you plopper newbs, the plopper SHOULD float no matter what. the tail end sinks when it stops so it seems to "not run right" the first few reel turns since that tail needs to get up to the surface. If your plopper sinks, it's defective. nice tip on keeping the rod tip high to keep the nose of the bait up. Great video!

I just picked up the Ozark Trail 2000 spinning reel. It looks different from the 3000 but it’s just as smooth and feels a little more sturdy / heavier. I’ll be using it for the first time tomorrow morning.

The only lures I use now are a buzzbait, a wake bait, flies, and a kvd splash. I also use 4 setups, a dropshot, a bobber attached to a bait holder hook, and a 7-inch leader. I'd use flukes, live worms, plastic worms, or soft plastic hellgamites, trout eggs, or soft plastic creyfish. Then I use a 7 inch leader tied to main line an a split shot a 1/4 inch above where leader line and main line tie. Lastly a plain hook ties to main line with a spit shot just above where I tie line to hook so line is less likely to break. Its always important to never put a splitshot where the knot is where it will break your line quicker. These 4 simple rigs with live worms, minnows or soft plastics, are what have helped me consistently catch fish and catch more fish. Before I could use properly a lot of lures, even knowing where fish are, I'd rarely or almost never catch a fish. At most, with all these other lures, 1 at best. That's why I went back to basic and simple it works. Funny thing too I have alot more room in my room now. 😂 the 4 rigs I started out with 2 rigs I haven't used since I was a kid were very simple an work really well. The bobber with the 7 inch leader tied to main line. Then 7 inch leader tied to main line with the split shot a 1/4 above where I tie two lines together this rig is great for finicky fish. When water seems dead and you can't catch fish. It falls slow its more of a finess technique 😊

I never overhand cast anymore because 2 reason. 1 you have less likelihood of hanging up lure in low hanging branches an the lure splashes less.
