Obviously I LOVE KZread and my plan isn't to leave! But I've definitely seen a huge shift in the last couple of years and I want to know if you guys have noticed it. I want to clarify that the things I'm talking about don't apply to the friends that you have seen me collaborate with on KZread. A LOT of KZreadrs are still so supportive and wonderful and they are my closest friends! But KZread is changing, and so is the community. It used to feel like a family. Now it feels very competitive. This video isn't meant to be shady or negative towards anyone at all. It's just an observation. I'm curious if you guys have noticed a shift as well, or if it is just me. Let me know what you think!

*Its more competitive now because there is less money from big advertisers* ever since pewdiepie got all that bad publicity many big companys stopped paying youtube for commercials. KZread also had to try to recover from the bad publicity by getting strict with video content guidelines. Both these things equal to youtubers making very little money now.

As someone who has been watching KZreadrs for 10 years, the shift is apparent to me as well. I miss watching videos of people being silly in their living rooms and recording on webcams. I have noticed a shift on KZread. All the Viners lost their platform and had to come over to KZread to keep making content. Not that they are the problem but I think that is when the shift occurred. I miss it when you all would collab together. It should be more about what you are doing then the money you are making. If you love what you are doing then that is all that matters.

I have seen a shift in the past couple years with increasing amounts of advertisements, many of those we aren’t able to skip, so if they’re demonetizing like you said, that doesn’t make sense. I’m not a fan of this system, I miss the old youtube:( But keep on going! Hopefully it turns out okay!

I’ve completely seen a shift and that’s why I’ve quit watching some people, because it became a competition. It’s no longer about entertaining people and the “new” content that is coming out is so generic. People have become so overwhelmed with gluttony and are so pretentious it’s insane. Nice to know some of the OG people are noticing and staying true to themselves 😊

Michaela Peters That's the main reason I stopped watching Pewdiepie. It suddenly felt that he was acting as if he was entertained, when he really wasn't, and that he was trying too hard to make overused jokes and stuff to entertain the audience. I no longer felt his drive to make his audience smile or laugh and genuinely like his content, like it used to be. Even though he's wayyyyy up there, I believe he still considers is a competition.

I have noticed it. KZread used to be a collaboration of creators...hard working creators...with dreams, goals and determination while remaining professional. Recently I have noticed a shift towards chaos, laziness and unprofessionalism. Also, the trending page is all celebrities, talk shows, news and I rarely see creators. It makes me sad. I definitely have noticed the shift. It’s just lame because youtube is sooooo saturated now that it’s very difficult to even find new hq youtubers. Which is one of the things that would make it so much easier to build communities of good hearted content creators. Cause lets face it all of the big channels are slightly unreachable to us little people. If I were you Colleen I’d just count myself lucky I got to experience an awesome KZreadr community for even a day! But I totally understand where you’re coming from and it would make me sad too! But hopefully you won’t ever have to leave...

I also think people who are just starting with youtube are doing it for the wrong reasons. It used to be people like Shane, Felix, Colleen, Smosh, who were just trying to make people laugh. Now it is people who understand you can because famous and make a lot of money off of this. So then they have no passion in what theyre doing.

i very much agree with the over saturation topic. once one video type, per say, is done, EVERYONE has to make their version of the same video. i am beginning to feel like there’s almost nothing new to make. just my thoughts, really glad you addressed this topic as a content creator who has been on for a substantial amount of time

Yes yes yes. I agree with everything you said. I’ve 100% noticed it all too. It sucks. The automated system is trash and trying to FIX anything when something goes wrong with monetization and trying to get a hold of or contact someone is not a thing. Feels distant. Especially for small but still decently successful youtubers. I feel ya honey.

I think I knew a long time ago the dangers of relying on KZread as a main source or an only source of income. The more people that want to be KZread famous the harder it is for content creators to continue to make a living. I've seen some youtubers lose their home recently. People don't have stable pay. If I were a youtuber at this point I'd use this platform as a portfolio to look for a more stable career. Then again being a creator is risky in general. But I wouldn't bank on KZread in the long run. I could be wrong but hey.

I’ve been following creators on KZread since 2007, starting with the VlogBrothers. There has been a HUGE shift in the culture. It is so hard to find new channels, and often times the algorithms favor mean and thoughtless over kind and thoughtful. I choose to believe it’s the algorithms and not that people genuinely prefer that. Just recently I heard a makeup guru shade another and was shocked! Maybe I’m naive but I also think that when one KZreadr succeeds it is a win for all of us that appreciate KZread as a resource for creative content/entertainment. Keep it up Colleen!

I agree on the @KZread thing 100%! They are demonetizing everyone's videos and the bigger part of the KZread community makes a living out of their videos. And the worst part about it is that most of the videos are nice and normal without any violence and they're still getting demonetized. I'll use another KZreadr that I watch as an example ( @Deligracy ). She's making Sims related videos and her videos about Cats & Dogs (The cutest creatures on the planet) are getting demonetized for no reason. Now, about the collaborations thing... When I really started getting into KZread about 2 and a half years ago KZread was SO different! Every second video that came out was a collab, and now I rarely see one. People used to support each other more and now, slowly and sadly, it becomes a competition. Okay, the last thing I have to say is that I love you and that's it, bye! 😍❤😘

I've watched you since 2009 & I have seen a big shift in youtube also. As an aspiring KZreadr with no a whole bunch of subscribers, i would love to collab with people, but even a while ago when I asked someone to collaborate they downed me and said I didn't have enough subscribers.... Anyways I'm watching you on Sunday and i'm honestly more excited than I've ever been!!! More thank all the artists I've watched! Love you Colleen!! Excited to meet you. KZreadrs literally don’t do collabs anymore I remember a few years ago the whole trend was yummy nummies and all of them would collab together and make them but after that it just kind of stopped

I completely understand you, Colleen. Despite me not being on KZread back then and witnessing the kindness and support that people shared. It sounds wonderful, and I totally wish it was still like it now. Just, take some time alright? I think that's the best thing to do. I ADORE your videos and been watching them for quite a while, though the last thing I want to see is you being bored of KZread or on the edge of quitting. Do you boo, and look after yourself!

I totally agree with everything you said...! Specially the competition part (specially amongst the smaller youtubers, like myself) idk it’s just really hard to find people to support you when you are just starting out... maybe it’s just me haha!
