Only 6 minutes in the video, so without bias… I have to say I’m scheduled to take my written for my PPL next week, and PE was a game changer. I have you to thank for the introduction, and I’m grateful. Now, on to the show!

Very educational Bill. Forewarned is forearmed, always has been. Analogy with the M and M's is on point, the focus is on the detail, how one arrives at that point is up to the individual, wherever that information may be located. Thanks as always Bill

I agree on the fact that any pilot should look for ALL available information before a flight. But I also think noise abatment procedures should be in the official documentation. It's the case in many contries, and it's always a pain for me when flying in the USA. I'm mostly flying in a country where ALL airports, even the smallest, have a map with circuit, noise abatment procedures or zones, obstacles, specificities, etc... Only 1 document, and you have most of the information needed. You just have to check another source for NOTAM and your are good to fly. Website are for taxes, restaurants, etc...

It's by no means a perfect system. The problem with noise abatement is they are not "required" or legally binding so going through all of the FAA stuff needed for it to be published is tough to justify.

My friend, I truly tried to watch this, because you're a respected voice in the community, but had to tune out. It might have helped to take three minutes or so to simply tell the story, in chronological order, so the viewer could get properly oriented. If this were a pitch, I'm sure you would have. But honestly, it took about 12 minutes of video to even get an inkling of what the issue was--and I never made it past that.

Thanks for the feedback. It was tough to figure out how to organize it since I was...."Winging It!" but I appreciate you giving a shot!

That's crazy that an experienced pilot doesn't know to check airport websites. The chart supplement does say to call the airport for the special procedures. A quick google search gave me the info in 15 seconds.

I agree with you Bill on the poor behavior this person exhibited and the lack of consequence he had from his bad language, etc from Pilot Edge. This especially in California is a big problem. There doesn't seem to be any standard for acceptable language and behavior and a total lack of empathy for an opinion that differs from the left. Growing up I was taught by my parents and teachers that certain foul language would not be tolerated. Today we have almost a total lack of accountability for this or any bad behavior which is leading to a culture of intolerance and intimidation against half the populations views, be it political or behavioral . This intolerant culture is perpetuating itself though so many areas of out daily lives. I'm glad you chose to call it out and not just put your head in the ground like so many are doing today. Being a pilot is an honor and privilege and one should act in accordance.

Words are just words, he could have used a different one (such as 'stupid', 'dumb' etc.) and all of this wouldn't have happened. This attention to what is written and not to what it really is supposed to mean truly is a plague of modern society. You can't start your monologue saying you like South Park and then get upset about someone saying 'retarded', to be honest.
