09:33 It’s The Best Tool We Have In Navigating This Uncertain World
About a year ago, I made a video titled, "Why I'm Extremely Frugal," and it wasn't until that video that I really analyzed why I choose to live a frugal lifestyle. In this video, I do an update on this topic and share six reasons why I choose to live a frugal life.
1. It’s Not A Sacrifice, But A Worthwhile Trade
Often people view living a frugal life as a "sacrifice," where you give up a lot of things you enjoy. And although this might be true, I have come to realize that a sacrifice is just a worthwhile trade. The reason we make sacrifices in life is because we believe that what we're getting in return is more valuable than what we're giving up. I choose to live a frugal life because I believe the trade I'm making to live with less is worthwhile.
2. It’s The Only Way The Average Person Can Live The Life They Want
One big money trap that holds people in back in life is believing that you need a lot of money in order to do what you want in life. The truth is that you will probably not make extreme amounts of money in life; however, you can still live the life you want by being more frugal. If you are more intentional with your money, your money goes further and you are more free to do what you want.
3. Life’s Much Better Without Debt
One of the best financial decisions that I've made in my life is graduating college with no student loan debt. That decision has allowed me to do so much up to this point because I don't have the financial burden of debt. I choose to live a more frugal lifestyle where I avoid debt because I have seen that it makes life better.
4. If You Make The Right Decisions When You’re Young, Life Will Be Much Easier
This past year I have researched a lot on money and living a sustainable life, and what I have come to realize is that the most critical financial time in life is between the ages of 20 to 35. And sadly, many people make very bad financial decisions at this period in life which follows them the rest of their life. If you are young and focus on making the right decisions at this phase in life, the rest of your life will be easier because you don't have to worry about past decisions. I choose to live a frugal life because I understand that if I make the right decisions now, my life will be easier.
5. Happiness = Contentment
I think when people spend a lot of money on things, they are searching for happiness; however, happiness cannot be found through buying things. Happiness is found by being content with the things you have. I choose to live a frugal life because I believe I am happier with less.
6. It’s The Best Tool We Have In Navigating This Uncertain World
We live in an uncertain world that is constantly changing. And many people become victims to this uncertain world by not taking charge over their life. Frugal living is a tool that helps you navigate this uncertain world by adjusting to whatever life throws at you.

How much we spend is the easiest part of our budget to control. It is much harder (if not impossible) to increase our income, so we need to, sometimes, feel miserable while living below what we "could" afford (irresponsibly) so we have security against problems like income loss. Having a frugal life isn't fun, but we might not have a choice until we reach a certain point. I was much happier when I spent my entire income, no doubt about it, but the lack of savings made me struggle when bad things happened in the past. Given the choice I'd not be frugal for sure. Sorry for being honest. So... It does not improve my life, but it gives me security. If I ever "make it" to a higher tier, I surely want to upgrade everything, starting by having a nicer house. That said, I don't want to go around burning money, I never did it, but I like to have people to do chores for me, I like to have a larger clean house where I don't bump into everything all the time and where I am unable to make a phone call without bothering my neighbors with my noise. It's ok, of course. I am not entitled to better, but I am working towards better. 🙂

No credit card debt, no mortgage, no vehicle payments. My husband's 24 year old truck is beat. We're pushing to make it last so we can buy him a newer one. This truck has close to 300,000 miles on it. The next one will not be brand new but it will be a newer truck with lower miles on it and we will be paying cash for it. We refuse to be buried in debt ever again.

That's absolutely correct 💯!!! And usually it brings on jealousy Because most people can't do it and be content... The average ( single person ) just don't want to sacrifice anything so they get flustered when they're in the company of a frugal person... 🙏@@KittyKat-vb1nd

I was reflecting on how capitalism is dependent on us spending money. That’s why these big cities are bombarded with restaurants and shops. On tiktok people are saying how it’s costing like $100-$500 to go out now. Now people are thinking that you have to have money to go outside. I went biking yesterday and I felt high afterwards. I was reminded that I can define what fun is to me. I absolutely love outdoor activities. I’m not doing it to avoid spending money, it just genuinely brings me more fulfillment. But I will say that outdoor activities are much more enticing because it’s free

I was always frugal in university/college. Saving money setting aside building up a buffer using whatever spare coins I had just developed into a good habit. Watching the pennies grow, it took mental discipline! Now I own my own property which I bought in my early 20s, mortgage free married, and have 2 kids

I completely share your mindset Austin. I'm lucky to be a full time stay at home mom, and while I could work part time, or have a side hustle, we're realized it's not worth it - at least right now when my kids are young. The trade off by cooking meals at home, having simple days where we stay in a lot, is by far worth the extra stress of adding more income right now. When you have young kids you always have things you need to buy - there's no getting around it - but we chose to live as simply as we can and it's a much more peaceful existence.

I only have an income of €25,000 a year so it is also possible to live on a low income and safe money and still enjoy life. It is absolutely worth it to live frugal 😊.

Living frugal never is a "sacrifice" to me; it's a action of power. Money no longer controls me; I can control it the best that I choose. Many expensive items I felt that I had to have, ultimately ended up being false expectations. Those items never changed who I was. I actually look forward to payday so I can budget my money:) I too graduated from college debt free! I worked on campus, didn't have a cell phone and took public transportation and graduated not owing a dime. I attended UCLA which has a high-cost living area where I still live thanks to frugal living;) I could afford a Tesla, but I choose not to spend money on one, my paid off Jeep is perfect for me

I still don't understand why education is so expensive in the US for even a simple Bachelor of Arts degree in English, so much so that they have to take loans. I think it's all part of the plan to keep people sending in debt. Where I live, even pursuing a Master of Arts degree in English is super cheap be it a government college or private.

Very well said that frugality isn't a sacrifice but a trade. I'm been in the frugal path myself for many years now and it's become second nature. My frugal path mirrors other areas of my life, like food consumption. Denying myself eating excessive food is not a sacrifice, but rather a trade for a healthier body.

Thanks to your videos I made the connection between minimalism and frugality. It was the missing piece for me between downsizing and looking at my spending habits.

No doubts , a good way of growing and saving your money is through investing . You don't need to have much before you can invest. That little money you have now can make you millions if you invest it wisely. I wasnt financial free until my 40’s and I’m still in my 40’s, bought my second house already, earn on a monthly through passive income and got 4 out of 5 goals, just hope it encourages someone that it doesn’t matter if you don’t have any of them right now, you can start TODAY regardless your age INVEST and change your future! Investing is a grand choice I made😊

I understand the fact that tomorrow isn't promised to anyone, but investing today is a hard thing to do for me now because I have no idea of how and where to invest in.I would be happy if you could advise me based on how you went about yours, as I am ready to go the passive income path.

Understanding the intricacies of investing is crucial. That's why it's important to have a reliable support system, such as a financial consultant, who can guide you, especially when it comes to selecting assets. Personally, I work with Regina Louise Collaro, an investment advisor who collaborates with a licensed wealth management firm. I must say that my financial journey has been exceptional under her guidance. Regina is widely recognized for her excellent services, so you may already be familiar with her. Thanks to her expertise, I have achieved financial stability and now earn a consistent monthly income through her passive income strategy.

Personally Maria, I'm blessed and realizing I'm not the only one working with Regina Louise Collaro. I will consider myself lucky. I've been able to feed and make a living through her advice and great work. For such a person as Regina, I owe her gratitude, support and endless prayers as it is not easy to gain access to such a competent and reliable adviser. Who isn't just wise but has all it takes to handle an investment and is good at what she does.

I just bought a bidet and car parts for maintenance, I do my own repairs. I normally buy things that will save me money. I had debt for about 5 years, now I'm debt free, but it was stressful when I did have it. I definitely agree with frugal living, I'm a big fan of your videos!

Your channel really connects with me. I’m frugal too for many of the same reasons. I make a modest income but I have managed to save $100k in savings, stocks, and investments. One of the difficult conversations I often have with people is when I mention that I’m actually happy that interest rates are high. To frugal people that save, it’s a benefit. Just the other day one of my GICs (basically the Canadian version of a CD, Certificate of Deposit) was up for renewal for another year. Basically I’m able to buy/renew a $20k guaranteed government bond for 6% interest. The upside of high interest rates that is never reported by the media is the upside. In addition to discouraging spending, high interest rates are supposed to incentivize savings. Both help reduce inflation, but the later is seldom mentioned but it’s one of the best benefits for frugal people like us.

Very true, A lot of people downplay the role of a financial planner until their mistakes. I remember just after my layoff early 2020 amidst covid outbreak, I needed to stay afloat, hence researched for license-fiduciary advsors. Thankfully, I came across someone of practical knowledge, and decades of experience, I Liquidated 200k of 325k from my 401(k) it has yielded nearly 1 m after subsequent investments so far

Frugal Living and Minimalism will also allow you to have a HUGE ROOM FOR ERROR in case of a bad decision or accident which is a part of being a nonperfect human being in a crazy world. That's why I chose this path.
