Why I'm so proud to be biracial

I'm so proud of who I am...so proud of my incredibly diverse family created by my black father & white mother....and so proud to represent them, esp considering the challenges they have faced & overcome through nearly 53 years of marriage!! ❤️ Love conquers all!

Biracial is not a real thing it’s a term made up (just like black) to in most cases distance yourself from blackness. Nobody would know she’s “biracial” if she didn’t say it! This woman, no matter how much money or where she goes would not live a biracial or white experience she could live a black experience with money or a black experience in poverty, but she’s definitely going to live a black experience!!! Which is why she was explaining it in 2013 14, 17 and I’m sure she’s still explaining it today!because it sounds preposterous. That in itself is letting you know she’s living a black experience.

@@Catgirl2021 that's absolutely nonsense. If my child goes missing. I am not going to just give the people that would look for him his age and weight. I am going to tell them that he is black. If he has an illness I want the medical personal to look up all the ailments that are prone to black people. When someone treats him badly because of the way he speaks or how coarse his hair is I want him to defend himself and be proud of his ancestry. Having ethnic pride shouldn't be a problem but having hate for certain ethnicity is a problem for some Not me ,I like to know who hates me.

My niece identifies as black because her white family disowned her. My brother isn't financially stable enough to provide a good home so she's with my daddy and stepmother. The other side of the family wanted nothing to do with her since birth and 10 years later, nothing's changed. She's growing to be a sweet, outspoken and smart young lady and their loss is our gain.

If I could, I gather all the white and non-black feedbackers who’ve commented on this post, and ask them directly point blank of the amount of biracial men and women, they’ve known beit from childhood or adulthood, how many of them that you’ve ever known ever talked about being DISOWNED by the BLACK SIDE of their family? show of hands and I’ll wait.

Respect to her for speaking her truth. My children are international, I'm the light skinned American mother, their father was the olive skinned Egyptian. My girls have 'biracial' children, but more so they are international. Their black male parents relatives were originally from Africa. Well, Egypt is in North Africa - so from their childhood my children were biracial. THIS woman is proud to admit she is biracial. Her choice is to be who she is. Standing up for both of her parents white & black.

I think that, in so many instances, historically, the white side of the family disowned the family member that produced the mixed race child, and the child had no choice of who to identify with. That, and the fact that having black blood meant they were considered black in society. Blacks were always accepting of their mixed race children as a part of the family. This lady, with her features, would have always been considered black regardless. It's great society, with the urging of black people, now allows mixed race kids to choose how they want to identify. Just remember, the black side was always there with open arms.

His father was black and his mother Asian (from Thailand). He said something to the effect of to say I am black suggests my mother didn’t exist. Why choose side? Both parents matter.
