I love my Trail II FG's, but I hated the lacing system so I put normal laces on them, they do fit through the holes without too much of a struggle and they're perfect for me now.

Very helpful review. I totally get why you wouldn't want to have to switch laces around, personally when I buy a fairly expensive pair of shoes I expect them to come with functional laces, no DIY required! Especially since you'd have to cut them out, it feels so final. Seeing how much you struggled getting your feet into shoes that clearly are the right size for you, it just makes sense... First impressions matter. If I tried on shoes in a shop and had to wrestle them on, no way I'd walk out the shop with them. Best of luck finding a nice alternative!

I've replaced lacing systems in several shoes. It's not a big deal. I replaced them in a pair of Primus SG III but left the system in my Primus FG II (for firm ground I actually like the stiffer laces). All that said, I nearly returned my original FG pair (for similar reasons you mention - quite stiff and never felt sized perfectly)... but as they've broken in they've become my absolute favorite of my Vivos. 🤷‍♂ (had them about 2+ years now - still going strong)

Honestly think you should give them another try. The laces are kinda trivial and something that gets replaced often anyhow. Regular laces work perfectly fine in this shoe. (Only replying to say that again cuz they're pretty much my favorite shoe overall)

How do you like the SGs? I have the FG II All Wearher which did pretty good last winter but lugs are fairly worn now. Was debating replacing them with another pair of FGs but also considered the SGs for winter.

I had a green pair a few years ago. I did like them a lot, but they were very expensive and didn't last long. Normally when I spend more on a shoe, they last many years with minimal signs of wear. I hope they improve the durability.

Have you tried Salomon trail shoes with Quicklace? I found it to be great on the Fellcross 2s; quick to use and giving a fantastic snug feeling. I am now using Salomon XA Pro 3Ds with quicklace which seem even quicker to get on and off but the quicklace seems to come loose after only a few feet, which it didn't with the Fellcross 2s. So, I find the XA Pro 3Ds good for mountain biking, where the laces will not come undone so readily.

I considered buying your shoes in men’s but declined when I saw the laces with plastic toggles. Your thoughts confirm what I already thought and that’s why I’m considering buying the Primus Lite lll All Weather Mens because they have laces and I don’t need them for trails or hiking, using them primarily for walking outside in London and jogging sometimes.

I own these shoes. It was only a couple of months before I went to put them on and pulled the laces tight at an angle that caused one of the top lace holes to tear. It's a bad design flaw to have such hard laces being held by flimsy little loops of plastic

Ok, so I’ve had these a few weeks now and they are holding up fine. The new laces really do work. However let’s now see what the 6 month test is like. I can see the lace holes being the weak spot but as I don’t have to keep tugging the cheese wire cutting laces tight, I’m hoping it’s going to be ok. The old laces would loosen easily but the thicker waxed laces feel much more comfortable and you can tie them in bow, and they don’t loosen. AND because they are thicker they won’t want to cut through…..Vivobarefoot, I hope you are taking note…… I counted how long it took me to tie one lace……3 seconds

Thais shoes are Not extensiv. This should be the normal price for shoes. The cheap shoes are produced by children who should go to school instead to have to work 16 hours a day for 6 days a week. People nowadays think everything must be cheap, don’t think what this means. It’s a shame. What would you think if your boss announces you that you should work double for the half salary?

    4 ай бұрын

Hi, you're welcome! I've tried both of them in a store once. I didn't really notice a big difference when it comes to fit/material. I think the difference is mainly in the colours/looks and maybe some other detailed design features. I didn't like the fit of either of these shoes. They are just a little bit too firm for what I like (they feel too plastic to me). So if that is what you like, then these might be good for you. I ended up buying these shoes: www.xeroshoes.eu/nl/shop/shoes/prio-women/ They are very different. Extremely soft and comfortable, but not as firm. So it depends on what you're gonna use the shoes for whether this is a good option or not.

Looks like the laces could be a little bit longer. That's a shame, but fixable. The lace lock will work with any 2-3mm strong cord. You however don't need to slide the lock to adjust the laces. Just pull and you're done. Elastic laces are also really bad for any kind of running. Your foot will slide inside and rub the shoe inners to shreds. The lace loops are also fine. A single comment doesn't really give you the whole picture. There are many, many more people using their Primus Trails without any problems. You just don't see them posting anywhere how their shoes are fine.

As mentioned in the video, I considered changing the laces. That was my first thought when I saw the dysfunctional laces. But I'm actually glad I returned the shoes since I received the following comment from a person who owns these shoes: ''It was only a couple of months before I went to put them on and pulled the laces tight at an angle that caused one of the top lace holes to tear.'' I got my money back, I'm happy 💰 There must be more functional shoes out there where I don't have to go ahead and experiment to make them functional when I receive them. Especially at that price point.

@@its.lela. Hiya 👋, just to give you an update. I have bought a pair and will be using for work. As an engineer i will be giving them a bit of abuse and doing ALOT of steps daily, so hopefully i can return in a month or so time and let you know how its going. I almost immediately cut out the thin quick pull laces and replaced with quality 3mm waxed laces for like £5 from Amazon. I found the quick pull laces would loosen and i was always yanking at them to tighten them - not good for the lace holes. The new laces feel great and stay tight. They will not bite in to the lace hole leather as they are much thicker in comparison to the cheese wire that the shoes came with from new. As an engineer fitting many top quality built products, I’ve seen it’s always possible for even the best manufacturers to miss a trick and i have made modifications that make a great product perfect. This is what i have done with these shoes and i am VERY happy so far.
