I am in the same boat. I got the s24u from samsung and used the trade-in of my s23u 12gb/512gb plus $600 for the s24u. I have been using both for a week now and have to make up my mind which to keep in a few day's. The s24u is a great phone, but honestly i think the s23u is a little better for me personally.

I'm in this same boat... idk how they could possibly fix all the camera and photo issues I have been having. Samsung has been quiet about these issues, and the confirmed fixes that would come. This makes me lean towards a return because I don't want to be stuck with a phone that's not working optimally.

Just got my S24 ultra omg what a horible display...grainy image bad colors and latest update doing nothing...I think im going to return it

S23 Ultra looks more futuristic.

I returned my S24 Ultra today and went back to my S22 Ultra. The S24 was buggy as hell. Wireless Android Auto would not work, random app crashes when playing games, vivid color mode not working and still waiting for a fix. Sorry, too many bugs in this phone to make it worth it despite the trade-in promos. Galaxy AI was definitely a neat feature but it's not worth it for me to keep such a wonky phone.

If you have the S23 Ultra, there is no need to upgrade. However, I'm coming from the Note 20 Ultra, which is three and a half years old. It's worth it to me because of the new features and the much better camera system. That Samsung is giving me $600 credit for the Note 20 Ultra is enough to get me to go for the deal.

Thank you idk why people are complaining about s23 to s24 the device is really for people who have older notes and S20 series.... its the same phone if your are coming from an S22 or 23 but i have a Note 20U that is slowly dying but i'm thinking maybe i should save some cash and do a S23U ill wait till it launches in the Caribbean Officially.

Huge upgrade for me from my S22 Ultra. The S22 was sluggish and would hitch all over the place. The camera quality is night and day from the 22 to 24. Also the reduced reflective screen, much better speaker. I'm very happy :D

Do you use device care to keep your cache clean? Samsung phones used to always slow down for me but when they released Device Care (In settings) I was able to clear my cache manually (or set up a schedule for it to run automatically).

@@JustXavier According to my S22U the last time the phone was optimised in Device Care was 12 days ago, so yes it's been doing it's thing. I'm in the UK so have the garbage Exynos chip. But the S22U is going back to Samsung for £370. I'll take it :D

I still have my s22 ultra and am due to trade it in for the s24 ultra I just received. Went to the park and took several photos, all distances. Bottom line, 100% confirmed that the s22 ultra is better at longer ranges , including 100x. S24 Ultra is better at closer ranges...usually. Non-camera stuff I can't tell any difference. Is it worth the upgrade ($600 give or take)? Right now my answer is No.

I've been having problems with the camera and photo output. Even at what's supposed to be top resolution, it is coming out grainy and low to medium light has been lacking, not to mention the forced processing post photo even after you try to turn it off. I wish they would acknowledge these issues publicly and talk about their solution.

I currently have the s21 ultra that i bought in 2021. Im trading it on wednesday for the s24 ultra. Huge upgrade, in my opinion, and i won't be regretting my decision. Never upgrade yearly because, of course, it won't bring many improvements year to year.

I upgraded from s21U to the s24U. Been using the phone for 1 week. It's a great phone but tbh i was a bit annoyed about the screen. My advice is don't look back at s21U screen. It is super vibrant compared to the s24U.

Totally agree. I sent mine back today due to broken charging port. After speaking to 7 agents with thick accents, I was told that I need to get to Frdex, send phone back, buy new one, wait longer a month for, pay MORE FOR IT, as preorder deal is over, then I. The customer need to call and ask them to please refund me the difference in price! After this horrible experience, and seeing that the phone is the same experience as my S22 ultra, Im feeling like a sucker. I have the money for it but no thank you Samsung. Maybe Google or another company will blow us away with hardware/design later in the year

Pick up the one plus 12

Coming from the note 20 ultra, I assumed it would be groundbreaking. I was not impressed. It is a very nice device with a ton of nice features. I tirelessly made comparisons in photo quality and the same apps side by side. I can not justify 900$ for a sharper 5x lens, faster auto focus , flat screen & all the other software features. The screen has some software developer issues, which will be fixed as well. Not hear to bash the s24 ultra. I just don't see the value. Being a photographer, I understand image and quality and was hoping to be blow away. There is not much of a difference in image quality besides the processing. Just my experience, I returned mine as well!

I commend your honesty, your definitely not a fool like the rest of the masses who buy into the whole marketing hype... I have both phones and prefer my S23 Ultra and will also be returning the flagship, it's not much of an upgrade imo in fact more of downgrade with the dull washed out screen and camera set up

500, new phone that will only get better and new 200 dollars Ear Buds 2. I loved my 23 U but my palm hitting something on the screen 10x a day will not be missed. Welcome flat screen. I've had it since Friday, and not one single miss hiit . Love the 24U.

Well I decided to do the same. After using the S24 ultra for a week, I kept thinking to myself, I'm using the same phone🤷‍♂️ even tho I got a good trade in credit and the free stuff. I just couldn't see paying the extra $500 on an upgrade considering my S23 ultra is still in prestine condition and runs like a beast. Not to mention the screen on the S23 ultra looks soo much better and I hardly used the new Ai features. So I will be returning the s24 ultra and will wait on the S25 ultra and hopefully it will be something new and worth the upgrade.

why would you change a phone after a single generation/year? Who does that? People who don't know what to do with their money. An upgrade to S24 ultra would be going from S9+ like me or S10+, S20, S21 even S22 ultra. But to change the phone after a single year it's something that in my opinion only someone who likes throwing money out of the window would do.

@catajedi well that thought process is true but it's also different depending on each person's priorities when it comes to finances and making good choices. For me, my wife and I do very well for ourselves. Both have great jobs. Been at mine for almost 11 years and my wife is an RN. We paid off our home 4 years ago and own 4 vehicles and a Boat. Debt free except for regular yearly house taxes and utilities. We're money Savers mostly. I've always had a love for new tech. So even tho upgrading yealry does seem unnecessary, as far as the actual "upgrade" itself. It basically is unnecessary. But for some people. It's just something that keeps life exciting without feeling like you've thrown away your money. But having Said that and considering my personal financial situation. I still choose to send my S24 ultra back. The S23 Ultra is still a beast in 2024 with the S24 ultra right beside it. Definitely no need in upgrading for me this year.

I upgraded from a Note 10 Plus and even I'm kinda in the same boat. OneUI and Samsung phones in general have gotten so good that it's pretty much the same experience even when upgrading from a 2-3 year device. It's unwieldy as heck too. The squared off edged and weight and feel of titanium are nice but they also killed the ergonomics of the phone. Its fine using it at home but when you're out and about and using it, taking it in and out of your pocket, that's when it starts feeling really cumbersome. Thinking of settling with the s24 plus or even the base version. It's exynos in my country but Exynos is no longer a deal breaker as proven by NL Tech.

What about the media quality? For example last year when i bought the S23u and was uploading pics on facebook, it was changing the quality of the photos enought to change my mind not to upload it

I have the ultra22 snd was going to upgrade to the 24. I was going to take advantage of the Samsung pre order deal but then i saw the dull display and i changed my mind. The Vivid toggle doesn't work at the moment on the 24. Total disaster for Samsung.

I currently have the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and im not upgrading until the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is released in 2027.

I felt the same. I actually prefer the shape of the older S22 Ultra with its curved edges, makes the side bezels really thin. In fact out of all the Ultra phones the S20 Ultra is by far my favourite. It has a bigger display but with nice rounded corners. And the display is every bit as good as the S23 or S24 Ultra. Save your money.

That means you have the S23 Ultra 256 GB that comes with 8 GB RAM, if you bought the 512 or 1 TB version, you would have the 12 GB RAM on S23 Ultra.

I understand totally and I still have both a N9 and N10plus in my possession as well. I was the owner of several note devices from N4, N5, N7, N8, N9 and N10plus. The reason it's not as bright is because of the new glass. Not just thr ant glare but the fact that it doest scratch until a level 7. So worth the upgrade!!! Feels so much better in hand.

Hey, so I traded in my Galaxy S20+ for the S24+ in cobalt violet. It's basically the same as the Ultra, except without the S-Pen and extra zoom cameras. If you have the S23 Ultra, I'd say just keep it. You'll get all the same AI features through software updates. The only thing you won't get is the seven-year security and software updates, but that's not a big deal unless you plan on keeping your phone for that long. I'd say give it at least two to three years before upgrading again, unless the next model has a drastically different design.

Im keeping my s23 ultra s24 ultra is not even worth the upgrade at all also the display on s24 ultra looks washed out not even that bright and s23 ultra will gave the ai features soon around march so yea im keeping my s23 ultra 100%

Appreciate the review. Mine comes in tomorrow and I too was contimplating if I should just keep my S23 Ultra till the S25 for maybe the Fold 6. I can't justify it either and will probably keep my s23 Ultra.

I dislike the S23U curved edges and especially the side glare, due to the curves and front glare. If okay with the curves and glare, I'd stay with my S23U, but not the case. Bye bye curves.

S23 ultra has better screen. The anti glare is not needed to everyone and The extra speed will come to life after maybe 5 years. So let not the advert make you feel to upgrade now. Wait for s25 or 26

I agree with you 💯. The only reason I moved from 23 to 24 is moving from 256gb to 1tb and having a flat screen. I have difficulty to use s pen on the edges of s23. I ended up paying $700 (including tax and CA stupid fees).

Man I'm on the same side as you🤦‍♂️ I've been playing with both phones since it got delivered and I'm soo torn between which one to send back🤷‍♂️ I do like the flat display and the tittanium violet color not to mention the $750 trade in and free stuff. But I'm going back and forth in my mind of is the S24 ultra worth the extra $500? My S23 ultra is sky blue in color and 512 gb and is still in prestine condition and still running like a champ. The S24 ultra feels exactly the same as far as performance and day to day use. I've got 6 more days to make a decision and still probably won't know on the last day on what to send back lol!

my device S22 ultra snap dragon Gen 1 has the best colors and best screen currently compared to the new S24 ultra I communicated with assistance from Samsung and I was given several options to wait for future updates or return the device by possible default after watching this video I prefer to return it and stay with S22 Ultra. pay more than $800 to not be satisfied.

The display on the S24 Ultra is the reason why I traded in my S23 Ultra. The auto brightness on the S23 Ultra doesn't work properly. It is always high, even in lower lighting conditions.

I did the same, but I traded my S22 Ultra for $800. The S22 Ultra will do basically the "Circle to Search" & other things as well. Just open the gallery, choose a photo & click on an object, then hit the "eye icon" in the top right & boom! You get the same Search! I don't like this dull display, maybe because I'm used to my S22 Ultra because it's beautiful. This phone's display is just dull as hell & the S22 Ultra will do just about everything this 24 Ultra can do. My battery % is dropping fast just sitting besides me also! I just love this flat display 🤟

I'm coming from a Redmi Note 8 Pro back then i had the Samsung S20 Ultra which was Exynos but the only phone i have now is the Redmi Note 8 Pro. Which is on it's last legs it was either upgrading to the S23 Ultra or the new S24 Ultra 1TB so i went with the S24 Ultra 1TB because of the deal they did 1TB instead of 512GB. To me it was the right choice since it's the latest Snapdragon chip with Ray Tracing which outperforms the latest iPhone in benchmark tests the S24 Ultra will only get better with software updates. Also S24 Ultra supports WiFi 7 which I'll be upgrading my router to support the internet speeds of 3Gbps down and up. Also faster GPU speeds Adreno 750 instead of Adreno 740.

Great video. And i understand your opinion why the extra 500$ is not worth the upgrade, when you already have the S23 Ultra. In my case, i got the S22 Ultra with the Exynos processor. Im from Europe, so the snapdragon was not an option back then. This time i bought the S24 Ultra, so for me it will be a major upgrade in every aspect and definitely worth the money. No way is it worth upgrading from the S23 ultra, personally i have the s22 ultra and its the exynos version and it is perfectly fine, in everyday use you are not really going to notice much difference unless you are pushing your device to the max daily because phones are so powerful these days, so i am keeping my S22 for at least another year samsung is going to have to do a lot more ro get me to part with £1300 again and putting a few a.i features you can easily achieve using free a.i tools and then making me pay for them a year later is not even coming close to cutting it, in fact it gives me less incentive to give me money to companies that operate that way, and this whole thing about 7 years updates is a load of crap, im only 2 years in on my promise of 5 years updates and already they are talking about putting new features behind pay wall, that is not what i signed up for and just proves scamsung havent actually learned any lessons on customer care and how to treat their customers, same old samsung they treat you like royalty for about a year then fuck you off and treat you like a piece of shit on their shoe when they release their new phone the following year. Nevermind the vitmrtue signalling about recylced fishing nets litterally no one gives a shiny shite about that what we want is value for money especially when we are spending top prices

Thank you for this video. Personally I don't see any reason to upgrade from my S23 Ultra to an S24 Ultra. Frankly, the S23 Ultra is one of the rare smartphones that satisfied me. This smartphone is a beast. I know some people prefer flat screens for example, but that's not my case. So I will perhaps wait for the S25 ultra which I hope will be a real revolution and not a slight evolution. I don't really see the point in releasing a new smartphone every year even if I understand the need to counter the competition if possible.

Yeah, there's no reason to upgrade from the S23 Ultra even with the trade-in offer. I on the other the other hand have a Note 20 Ultra 5G and knew I didn't want to pay extra for the storage upgrade (I'm currently using about 219 GB of internal/external storage). I'd keep my device, but it'll no longer be supported for upgrades. The 7 year upgrade support, 512 GB at 256 GB price, and trade-in offer were enough for me to switch.

Taking my phone back tomorrow to fed ex. The phone dispay issue is big for me since my eyes are bad and it just looks bad. I am also not a fan of the weight added to what feels like the top of the phone putting stress on my wrist and on my patience. I upgrade from a note 20 ultra and it feels pretty close to the same thing as the s24 ultra. I will most likely buy the s24 plus because of the size and also the weight and drop in price.

@@iamvocabulary yeah I contacted their tech support and I got the exact information as everyone else has that has made any contact with Samsung customer care. There is no ETA as far as time frame when the devices we're going to get the update. One of the main reasons I returned it also was because the weight . The top of the phone felt extremely heavier than normal. I currently have a Note 20 ultra 5G and it's a lot lighter obviously because of battery capacity and less functionality. But really what did it for me was the display it's like how much of a fail did quality control do before shipping these devices out. I really wanted to like it but it looks like I'm leaning more towards the s24 plus instead in regards to size weight and hopefully a fix. I'm going to wait at least a month or two if there's been an update or a large consensus of people saying the issue with the display has been taken care of

And when the 25 comes out, That $750 isn't even going to be close to that for a trade-in on an S23 Ultra, but an S24 Ultra trade in will be top dollar. Yeah you really thought this one out right?

So I work for tmobile and I always tell customers NEVER upgrade every year. It's only incremental features. So unless the manufacturer is doing a total redesign then wait a minimum of 2 years to upgrade.

Is a lot of controversy with samsung the same as the galaxy tab s8 ultra vs 9 ultra both are the same but the s9 ultra to me works better with the 12 gb ram vs 8 gb ram of the s8 ultra same with this new device just to mention 12gb ram over 8 gb new snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and to finally upgrade from aluminum to titanium the new glass for me is worth paying the extra 500 bucks not to mention the other upgrades 😊

This is Michael . Everyone knows you should always wait at least two yearly upgrades for a new phone. If you did your research like you should have before you bought, you would have saved yourself a lot of Hassle and the company from getting a returned phone for no good reason.

I'm returning it because I feel the same! The difference is that my Note 20 Ultra is PAID OFF, so I'm not locked to any carrier and unlike what you say about the "feel" on my hand, for me IT'S HURTFUL!! It hurts the palm of my hands, it hurts my wrists... It doesn't worth it for me either. And in my case I'm keeping a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, so, go figure...! 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️😂

The S24 Ultra is a Slightly better S23 Ultra. I could've saved you the money. Its the same phone. But then again that's coming from a guy who bought the S24 Ultra because I Love the New colors. I didn't get the S23 Ultra. I'm a Z Fold 5 Lover. But I'm missing the S Pen Experience and it's okay to have a Collectors Item Device. I won't even use it much. The Z Fold 5 is more of a Entertainment Beast!

You should've known that they were going to be more similar than different simply because their only one year apart,that's why I upgrade once every 3 years.

My S24 Ultra just froze on me this morning.

I returned the s24ultra because the sound quality sucks, way inferior to my old Note 9.

i currently have the S22 Ultra(Exynos) and the S24 Ultra.. my screen on the S22 Ultra is much better: more saturated colors and is so clear! The S24 Ultra has dull colors and it feels like it has a filter applied to the screen, that makes the screen less clear! if they don't fix this issue in the return window, i will be sending it back and probably get the S23 Ultra

You can see they fucket up the s24 same problem on s24 plus

cameras are not equal..s24 cam is degraded.. I returned too.

Yes definitely not better than s23 ultra I get the s24plus and not happy with box feel any more an never use s pen. But if I had to pick between s23 u or s24u I'd pick 23u as bezel looks horrible on s24u

I am sending this expensive shit s24u 12/512 back due to the bottom speaker invented by some moron, during watching yt/tiktok, while watching vertical, I ve got a feeling that I hear the sound from the left side instead of from the center, from the display, hard to explain. I will probably never buy samsung again. Balance settings didnt help with this crappy phone.
