    Never trust a Murky, and never trust a one-trick. Perfect storm happened, right there.

    The "all reported" play is the most ironic thing I've seen in a long time. Murky literally pings his ult is available at the moment Anub comes into view on YOUR screen, so there's nothing stopping him from securing boss with octograb stun on Anub, but apparently, his team is throwing too hard for him to care about that.

    Pretty sure these are still plat games, with probably the lowest playerbase in the history of the game. Combine that with the fact that it's no longer hero league but storm league.... a lot of garbage players. Lots of delusional shotcallers in HoTS more so than other MOBAs.

    17:03 - Level 20 advantage but 3. 17:20 - Jaina arrives, still only 4. 17:24 - Enemy level 20. 17:39 - Murky arrives, now it's 5 and the fight is already over. But I'm glad he finally figured out that he could attack minions as Murky. Bit late but maybe he's going to remember that in his second game of HotS.

    Hanzo had a premature edragulation on that lvl 20 team fight. Seemed like the ranged couldn't agree who to kill or how to combo.

    I've played Arthas today and it went beyond my expectations (getting crushed every game). Too much burst and CC is still too hard to survive through, but otherwise you can abuse the frontliners very well. And the D build gives infinite mana which is nice. I wonder what the rework would focus on

    Yeah, I feel you there. He's tough to work with because Heroes of the Storm just doesn't really have a niche for his unique strengths. (Which is basically being able to beat any melee hero in a 1v1 without breaking that much of a sweat thanks to his slowing aura... except maybe Cho'Gall, but that's not 1v1). Outside of his slowing aura, everything else is pretty well-worn territory, and nothing about his kit truly screams "Arthas, lich king, lord of the dead, betrayer of humanity, master of the frozen throne, wielder of the cursed blade Frostmourne, taker of souls... etc etc etc" to me... and that's not even confronting the fact that Leoric exists and they share a *lot* of theme space, and a lot of cool undead ideas were already explored with Xul. He should be a tank, and he should be *slow*. Arthas doesn't run, he walks menacingly and unstoppably at his problems. Beyond that I think the design space is pretty open.

    Likely, if he were to get a rework, he'd get some form of mobility, and a more reliable CC. Something like turning his root into a targeted dash, or giving him some baseline ability to increase move speed, making his level 1 root quest baseline, that sort of thing.

  • @slimpwarrior

    @slimpwarrior

    @@Xanthanarium That would be nice. I was debating level 1 talents but stopped at the D quest. Mana is more important for carrying

  • @Xanthanarium

    @Xanthanarium

    Жыл бұрын

    @@slimpwarrior It can be. It depends on what you need. Root quest makes your CC more reliable; if that is more important than staying in long fights, which would be the case more often in higher ELOs, then it's a more valuable talent. Otherwise, trait quest is better. Regardless, baking in root quest is something that's been suggested often over the years.

  • @kevingriffith6011

    @@Xanthanarium I don't really think a dash is 100% necessary for Arthas to be successful as a character (And IMO it doesn't fit on him. Arthas doesn't run, he walks menacingly... like Darth Vader). There's another character in HoTS who has a kit *extremely similar* to Arthas, and that character is pretty solidly top-tier: Dehaka. Naturally Arthas is a Tank and Dehaka is a brusier, and Dehaka has global presence that can't be ignored... but look at the moment to moment of teamfighting with either of those characters: They want to turn on their damage aura and autoattack people, maybe landing their CC skillshot sometimes. As it stands there is very little Arthas does that Dehaka doesn't do better outside of hosing autoattackers, particularly melee ones (Higher DPS damage aura, better survivability, better PvE). Arthas' engage is longer range (thus more consistent), but Dehaka's is much more dangerous. I didn't mean to turn this into "let's dunk on arthas", but more to say that the general gameplan of arthas *can* work, but it needs to be tweaked... and it can be very hard to balance a sustain tank's numbers because he can go from "dies instnatly" to "unkillable" with only a very small number of changes. IMO I'd like to see a talent for arthas that lets him pull the last person he autoattacked in the past 3 seconds (maybe give it a range limit so that it doesn't become "Gorge but better"... and maybe a 30 second cooldown.). It's the Death Knight's Death Grip ability from WoW, so it absolutely has a place on his kit and I think it'd make him much better at sticking to more mobile heroes once he's on them.

    I never saw a tilt to stop playing from the murky. He was earnestly playing the best he could. Peak potential input with a weak trickle output. Don't rob this player of his own accountability. They didn't lose because he just gave up, they lost because he played the best he knew how....

  • @onkelpappkov2666

    @@undignified2843 This is pointless pseudo-philosophy. If a player is hindered by tilt but they still try everything in their now very limited power to play normally but they just can't and it's a mental state forcing them to play atrociously, can they be blamed for playing badly? Yea of course they can. Even if you have a garbage day, your actions are your own. If you swerve your car into a crowd because you are intoxicated, it doesn't matter whether you had control over the vehicle or not. You are responsible because you did it. If the guy is mentally damaged, that's not a thing they should be blamed for, but if that condition leads them to make bad decisions, those are theirs to own. Nobody blames anyone for tilting, but queuing into a game tilted, then playing poorly and deflecting, those are blamable actions regardless of whether or not they were on purpose. Give people more agency and responsibility. We are not mere products of circumstance and chemicals. What we do can largely be attributed to us.

    Should the flex pick always be the last pick. So this wouldn't happen. Where you can barely punish mass melee. Arthas is good here but if he didn't have to pick a tank, they could have been in a much better position with some damage dealer that can get stacks or resets off bunched up enemies. and also poke the front line. So is it a grief, if the team doesn't leave flex for last?

  • @slimpwarrior

    @slimpwarrior

    I always try to first pick as a tank main so stuff like this doesn't happen lol

  • @AllWIllFall2Me

    @AllWIllFall2Me

    Жыл бұрын

    I wouldn't say so, as leaving a "flex" pic for last has its own suite of complications and frustrations. Whoever ends up in the last slot like this is going to have to struggle with "how do best mesh with my team, and counter the enemy designs", and sometimes there's just not a great answer to it. Picking a tank early means the enemy team can build around the tank you picked, and you don't know that a given flex player even plays the best hero for the missing spot. The big problem with Grubby's team's draft is that Murky and Jaina got picked the same round of draft: Hanzo and Brightwing got picked first, and that's fine; Brightwing is one of the stronger healers in the game, and her global z movement can be good on a big map like this. Hanzo can be very good at clearly the gnoll camp, and he has poke, meaning he can make it hard for opponents to channel an objective on this map. But Hanzo is a fairly fragile back-liner, as is Jaina: you only want both on a team if you have a very strong front-line to protect them from enemies. Which Murky sure as hell isn't. Jaina is super vulnerable in this comp, she's playing against an Anub'arak, who is naturally strong against her, and she's not bursty enough to offset Hanzo's sustain. That's probably why she goes with Ring of Frost as her ult, but it would have been better to just grab another hero who is more protected. Similarly, Murky actually has a high win-rate on Alterac, because there's a lot of spaces for him to hide eggs, push side lanes, and generally be a menace. But he needs to know that the team can hold a fight while he's doing that, and if his team-mate is hovering Jaina, he should know that group is going to struggle. There are plenty of heartier off-laners who would have made team-fights feel safer.
