А когда спрашиваешь тоже о событиях которые как клубок вплетены во все эти события , и там заучит слова , которые другой стороне не выгодны ( Дон¥бас , запрет ЯЗ итп ) .Нет нет мы не о политике канал .Люди будьте честны хоть на едине с собой

А что вы, собственно говоря, скажете своим студентам, показывая это видео? Что русские тоже люди? Удивительное открытие, особенно в 21 веке. А до этого эта очевидная идея была под сомнением? То бишь, в 21 веке существует необходимость доказывать кому-то, что есть люди и есть не люди, есть цивилизация и что русские, видишь ли, все-таки люди и даже наделены неким интеллектом и, страшно подумать, они похожи европейцев!. А высокодуховные европейцы об этом не знали и нуждаются в работе журналиста, который им показывает, что русские не орки дикие, а обычные люди, которые, о чудо! разговаривают, ходят в гости и даже шутят. Оказывается, демонизация русских - это дело рук Путина и России, а до этого русских в Европе считали людьми, а потом перестали считать, раз понадобилась работа журналиста по очеловечению русских. Ведь работа журналиста направлена не на внутреннюю аудиторию (русским не надо доказывать себе, что они люди), а на внешнюю. Это, значит, Путин запретил показывать русских людьми? Это Путин запретил русским выдавать визы? Это Путин демонизировал русских и русскую культуру? Может, стоит европейцам задуматься о своем невежестве и высокомерном отношении к чужой культуре и избирательном расовом подходе, когда целой нации приходится доказывать, что они тоже люди.

@@andrewshepitko6354 в Москве есть курсы украинского в библиотеке иностранной культуры. Были ещё курсы украинского в украинском посольстве, но их закрыли, потому что никто туда не ходил, хотя в Москве живёт очень много украинцев. И ещё в Москве есть сеть украинских ресторанов "Тарас Бульба" и официантки там ходят в украинских народных костюмах. В Москве нет национализма, как у нас на Украине.

She isn't speaking slowly to us like children. 🙂 I love it. 7:22 Maybe you could go back to this Cafe and order some things in Russian? They do this on the other easy language channels. 8:17 I would be interested to visit Riga sometime, but using Russian if possible. For Russians/Latvians speaking Russian this would be acceptable, but tourists? I suppose you have to accept being laughed at in any new language that you try to speak. How does the Russian spoken in Latvia differ from the Russian spoken in Russia? Any false friends? Any Russian restaurants in Riga? Can you explain the episode/video numbering system please? This one is number 20, the 2nd of the new series. Let Peace and Love win in the end. 🙂

As far as I could see there there wasn't any differences between russian spoken in Latvia and russian spoken in Russia. Even young Latvians spoke russian fluently with a slight trace of accent. Although I met a few people who didn't speak russian. Thruthfully my experience wasn't quite profound cause I got this notion during my few days stay in Riga.

Hi! It is acceptable to speak in Russian as a tourist in Latvia, but don't expect absolutely all ethnic Latvians to know that language. Don't get offended if a Latvian is unable to answer you in Russian or if they speak with an accent, and all will be well. Greetings from Latvia!

@@lauravilsone5554 When I was in Riga in 2018 I was quite impressed by the fact that all the people speak Russian without any difficulties. Two girls receptionists in our hotel, although being Latvians, speaks Russian fluently, maybe with a slight trace of accent which was rather becoming. Only once at Lido restaurant I met a cooker which seemingly didn't get what I had asked him in Russian but that was a unique case. Best wishes from St-Petersburg!

I'm glad you are able to continue the channel, and find it interesting that you are doing your part in Latvia! There is a large Latvian community in the next-door county from where I live in the U.S. I'm retired now and haven't had contact with any of them for many years, but I believe they still do a lot to try to keep their language and culture alive. When I first moved to this area there was some Latvian-language programming on the local public radio station, but I'm not sure how important it is to the youngest generation. I've sometimes wondered. These people are descended from people who fled Latvia after the big war. Their stories were passed on to their grandchildren, and as you say, their relationship with Russians was complicated. I'm subscribed to this channel for the Russian, but will be glad if I learn anything about Latvia from it, too.

Much respect 🙏 A little sad to see that all the videos with Anya are no longer on the channel, but I'm gonna figure it was probably a safety-related decision or something if she's still living in Russia.

In India everybody supports Russia because of our historical ties and some bad statements from Ukraine but I understand that common people suffer not the politicians. Kind of weird huh between Indians in India and Indians abroad. According to US statistics, more than 500,000 illegal Indian immigrants (second after Mexicans) live in America and recently your foreign minister was invited to appear in an Austrian TV channel to answer why recently a record in Austrian immigration, 18,000 Indians applied for asylum in Austria. In your saying in India everybody supports Russia why none of your fellow countrymen migrate to Russia? They all went to America or Western European countries. Would you care to explain why?

С тех пор как началась война было очень тяжело для нас иностранных русофилов. Сначала я даже не хотел слышать русский язык. Я, который постоянно смотрю русские фильмы и читаю русские книги вроде бы отвернулся от русского языка. Я теперь медленно, постепенно возвращаюсь к своему любимому русскому языку, но для собственного здравомыслия я должен избегать всех, кто поддерживает "его" (проклятую фамилию не хочу писать) и его банду воров. Это видео дает мне надежду на ту Россию, которую я люблю. Дорогие, я вам желаю всего самого доброго. Пусть поскорее кончится кошмар и вы сможете вернуться в Россию потому, что России нужны люди как вы. Берегите себя. Крепко обнимаю.

Стоит понимать что лидер в стране - не равно культура народа, к которой этот лидер или эта страна себя причисляет. Мы точно также уважаем немцев, прибалтов и поляков - хотя Шольц, Науседов и Дуда нам ни разу не предпочтительней. И с Зеленским тоже самое - шут из Квартала 95 не должен отвечать за всех украинцев. Ну и конечно хотелось бы чтобы вы шире смотрели на сегодняшний конфликт. А то у инфантилов одна мантра: Кошка бросила котят - это Путен виноват.

As a Latvian, that doesn’t speak Russian, there is a lot I could say about the attitude towards the Russian language here. I appreciate that you understand the terrible history from the Soviet Occupation and how that has affected the Russian language here for many Latvians. Russian is not mandatory anymore here in school. English language is mandatory and it is started immediately in the first class. My son , 10 years old in the 4th class, is studying Russian now in school. He was given the choice between Russian or German. His teacher encouraged the students to choose German, however. More than half the class chose German. I live in a very Latvian town, Cēsis. There is so much more I could say on this topic… Thank you . Slava Ukraine💛🙏💙

Many Latvians born after the collapse of the USSR have never learned Russian and neither understand it nor speak it. Others who knew it well in the past, but do not use it in their everyday life, have also forgotten it, but of course there are people who continue to use it in work relationships or come from mixed families and are bilingual. А чего стоит ваш сеанс саморазоблачения относительно ненависти к русским! Вот с этого и надо было начинать. Во-вторых, поляков нынешний герой Украины Бандера сильно не любил и даже много убивал, но украинцев, потомков Бандеры вы великодушно простили и даже братаетесь с ними. Польша на карте сохранилась благодаря СССР, земли немецкие вы забрали, не побрезговали от СССР принять подарок, а что так? Может, вернете Германии? Это ведь тоже советское наследие? Если бы не советские солдаты, кто бы вам эти земли дал?

It would be interesting to hear from Russian Diaspora in western countries. I especially interested in hearing from the ones in Nordic countries. About language, buying Russian food, the war, if they met Russians who fled mobilization, Ukrainian refugees etc

You mentioned that you asked both Latvians and Russians on the streets of Riga which language they use the most, and that both Latvians and Russians said they use Russian more. Are you sure that Latvians use Russian language more than their own native Latvian language in their own country? Sounds very biased and subjective.

As long as Latvia doesn't try to suppress the Russian language in the country then there should be no issue. It's wrong for a country to forcefully try to eliminate a language and culture within its borders.

А что вам мешает посетить Россию? Это не Россия ввела визовые ограничения, а Европа. Это Европа относится к России так, что надо доказывать ей, что русские тоже люди. А если вы так совестливы, то почему не проклинали Францию и Саркози, который начал войну в Ливии? Почему бы вам, французам, не покаяться за Алжир или Мали? За свои колонии? Или за Наполеона с его походом на Москву? Или ужасные войны - это только про Россию, а Франция ведет войны прекрасные и справедливые?

@@angrybird2260 Европа не ввела визовые ограничения, а приостановила соглашение об упрощённом визовом режиме. То есть визу получить по-прежнему можно. А вот со стороны России в отношении граждан ЕС подобного соглашения никогда не было)

Россия симметрично отвечала. Европа ввела упрощенный визовый режим, а потом сама же и отменила, мотивировав это тем, что посещать Европу -это привилегия, а не право. Вы ничего дискриминационного в этом не видите?

It'll be interesting to know what their Journey was like leaving their countries and what it's like living amongst each other. And then just going on about how do they plan to make a future in this new world they're living in. Idk. Just glad to hear that you guys are back. Your words were a breath of fresh air.

In Russia Russians, Belorussians and Ukrainians get along well. I'm an Ukrainian with Belorussian roots on father's side, now live in Russia. Russian is my mother tounge, because I'm from the East Ukraine.

Confused.. Channels like 1420 show ordinary Moscow citizens speaking openly about the situation in Russia - they didn't leave or jump ship......a privilege/paranoia of just the media classes it seems.

I am left wondering what you would have been putting in these Russian lesson videos that the Russian government would have censored. I watch many Russian learning channels from Russia and this is the only one that has reported they were being censored.

I saw the very last video of Ira on this channel. She was asking to people in St. Petersburg what they think about the current situation in Ukraine and things like that. I mean at max they must have got some warning letter or something. I don't think it was that life threatening to just be underground like an international criminal.

Giving importance to politics is useless. I would not have left if i was a citezen of russian federation. And also russian is an international language now so it's not hard to not leave the language.

I left Russia because I didn't live their lol but I will always learn Russian language and speak it. ✌️

Мне интереснн ваш канал, но если он не политический, то как понять политические оценки ведущего о войне с Украиной? Это вопрос не однозначный, так что если высказывается о политике, то и другое мнение нужно учитывать.

Посмеялась от души, так как смотрю также французские и немецкие каналы и на них тоже нельзя говорить все что отличается от официальной позиции государства)))))) Только они действуют по хитрому, ни как в России все по чесному, сразу статья и сизо, а начинают гнобить человека, запугивать и лишать его обычных человеческих прав и свобод, пока он сам не исчезнет из общественной жизни. Сразу вспоминается Гретта Тунберг, Доминик Ассанж, некоторые американские военные которые год назад сказали, что по графику Америка планирует вести войну России и Украины до 2025 года, потом у них другая повестка..

Latvia looks cool. glad yall are making content and best of luck to you. As a sidenote yall could do more history on exiles in Russia and how they set up communities. I know there were the Jews pretty much from forever, the whites, kossacks from time to time. That would be interesting. Also talk about some of the old history from the Kievan Russ period and how Russia split off from the prince of Belgorod. Most Russian learners probably dont know much about any of this. Westerners definitely dont know how they are intertwined from way before the soviet period. Also a video about the hottest girls in russia would be good. Russian girls are beautiful :P History of Latvia Russians would also be cool. The history between the two pre soviet period. Also explain how Russia is an empire. Lot of interesting history has to be there with all the states and ethnicities. Russians are always shown as european white looking folk and that is def not true. gl

However, when it comes to the NATO wars in the Middle East for instance, vaccine mandates and vaccine safety, ..., it's less the case though.

From a Russian student (in both languages): Thank you for making this video. I've tried many times in conversation to explain that a country's people…are not its government and military. Normal people don’t start wars or make large diplomatic decisions. You hit on this point nicely around the 5:15 mark: Russian people who are educated and aware...who know better than to trust the propaganda of the Putin regime, don't want this war. They recognize Ukraine is not an enemy, but a historic and ethnic ally, blessed with people who just want to work hard and raise their families. I’ve seen this first-hand from the folks who had to emigrate from Russian-speaking countries, and on Russian YT channels. Anyway, I appreciate that you guys are a language channel with a mission, for unity through understanding, and that you don’t stay quiet about current events. That’s what the street interviews build towards (though they don’t have to be your only format). You are right, but not fully. Adequate russian people understand that ukrainians are an old kindred people. And they have watched with sorrow as the neo-nazi regime came to power in Ukraine after the coup in 2014 - who see Russia as responsible for all their problems, for which they began to infringe on the rights of the russian-speaking population in East Ukraine. Because of this, first Crimea left Ukraine, the unrecognized republics of Donetsk and Lugansk appeared, and then Russia had to bring in troops. The invasion in febrary 2022 is the biggest mistake of Putin, because he couldn't solve the issue diplomatically trying to tame the Kyiv authorities and decided to use force - and adequate russian people see this as a forced but still weak step. I hope you can find sources that will tell you more about the situation there. Because the emigrants who have now left Russia weren't carred about the war going on here from 2014 and they left because their personal comfort became unsettled.
