I'm in my early 50's and I was a heavy smoker, indeed I smoked since before I entered my teens. Last off I was doing a 30gram pouch of tobacco on a daily basis - that's likely around 50 roll ups a day. Now I tried vaping several times before nic salts hit the market and I always went back to my beloved roll ups. That was until I discovered nic salts. I started off buying a 50mg strength and it blew my head off but it got me off the cigs. Man, you are so wrong about nic salts. These days I vape at 10mg nic salts and I see no need to try and go lower and I've been smoke free for four years. Nicotine in itself isn't bad for you so why go lower than a level that satisfies and keeps me off smoking? The reason nic salt comes in higher nic strengths is that it is not as harsh as freebase so it doesn't tear your throat apart. Yes you're assumption is wrong - vaping is not so much to reduce nicotine but rather to keep a person from smoking. I appreciate your opinion but think what you are saying is counterproductive to the vaping industry. Nic salts are the best innovation to vaping and allows true smoking addicts to reduce and leave tobacco use behind. You should really address this and better educate yourself on nic salts. I notice this video is from 2018 so I hope you've changed your opinion on salts now but we're all entitled to an opinion. And is is my opinion that this video shows a lack of education on the true worth of nic salts. Peace and love.

I'm an ex-smoker too. My problem that I've encountered when switching to vaping is that I took a lot more nicotine than I used to. Usually I would smoke outdoor but with vape there's no need to go outside and I ended up vaping a lot so I understand the concern over extreme level of nicotine in juices. Being addicted to anything is bad, if you could use vaping to quit smoking than that's great, but even better if you could quit consuming nicotine. Vaping is a lot less harmful than smoking but it is still harmful.

This entire video was so inaccurate that it's genuinely absurd. You evidently don't understand any of the content matter you're talking about, even slightly. If I were you I would second guess making videos that push information that's going to mislead people. It's very concerning that you are informing customers and selling products, when you don't have the slightest grasp on any of this. Firstly, freebase cocaine is not used to get people off cocaine, it's called crack and it's used to get people more high, faster. LOL Nicotine salts are not a "more natural" or "more raw" version of freebase nicotine. They're a compound made in a lab, just like freebase nic. Nicotine salts occur naturally in the tobacco plant, but not the same nicotine salts people vape. If you did highschool chemistry you would know what salts are. The salt nicotine used in vaping is a compound made with benzoic acid. This lowers the PH value and makes it smoother to vape. High nicotine concentration salt nic juices aren't made for sub-ohming - they're a solution for effective nicotine delivery using low vapour production MTL systems. You state that salt nicotine is more pure than freebase nicotine, but it's literally the exact opposite situation. Freebase nicotine is the pure, isolated nicotine molecule. Salt nic is a nicotine SALT, meaning it's a nicotine compound with additional atoms. Again, highschool chemistry would shed some light on this one. Nicotine salts are not less effective than freebase nicotine at being absorbed by your system. If you vape 3mg freebase then you should vape 3mg salts under the same situations. The concentrations in certain juice lines are higher because they're designed to be used in different setups. Salt nicotine juices are not intended to increase people's nicotine intake, they're intended to deliver it in a manner more closely emulating smoking a cigarette. A few hits on a pod system vs chain vaping gigantic plumes with a sub-ohm tank or RDA. Throat hit in freebase nicotine is not meant as a deterrent. That statement is so utterly ridiculous I struggle to even comprehend that someone said it. Whatever god you believe in didn't design nicotine molecules specifically to give a certain amount of throat hit to deter people from using higher amounts. Do you think people who manufacture diluted nicotine solutions for vaping put chemicals into the liquid to deter people from using a certain amount? This is literally some of the wackiest stuff I've ever heard. Stop moralizing, stop preaching, do some homework and stop misleading and misinforming people. This is one of the worst videos I've ever seen. You talk about people who should be pulled off youtube, in my opinion that applies directly to you for putting out content like this.

I mix my own juice and switched to salt nic, I couldn't be happier. I still mix at 6mg strength just like I did on freebase. I understand people use vaping as a way to quit smoking all together, that wasn't my reason. I really enjoy smoking and the nicotine 'high.' I just wanted to quit cigarettes. I love the reduced throat hit and the quick 'pick me up' of the salt nic it is by far the better choice. Although I do understand your concerns and you make some very valid points. Like you pointed out I too find myself returning to the vape more often than I did with freebase. Aside from hitting the vape more often I have no issues, and I also don't have an issue hitting the vape more often, I enjoy vaping. Nice video, and good information for our fellow vapers!

My puff counter was going up roughly 500 hits a day when I was using freebase nicotine, but since I switched to nicsalts at 25 mg, I’m taking less than 50 hits a day. I think personally for me that the nicotine isn't my enemy, the nasty chemicals produced by burning tobacco is. I am happy staying at 6mg/ml levels, and have no intention to keep lowering to 0mg. I wanted a safer alternative to smoking, and all the other people who were vaping before I was, are back at smoking cigarettes, and they all wanted to ween down to lower levels and quit vaping also, but instead they just started smoking again, This has become my Hobby making coils, temperature vaping, making juices, and I cannot imagine even wanting to smoke now, the taste is horrible and stinky. Nic salts are a very good alternative for quitting smoking, I used to smoke 4 packs of cigarettes a day, then I was introduced to 6mg e-juice vaping. This did cure my craving for cigarettes, however I was vaping more e-juice, compared to smoking. With Nic salts, I vape less and get more satisfaction than using 6mg e-juice. I use the 'Sourin Air' using 50MG Nic salts, and vape much less. I disagree with your statement that it make you vape more, not true in m opinion. Yes, that's true. Prolonged use MAY cause such issues. However, we don't really know yet. Most of the hardening of arterial walls was caused by conventional smoking - it's not just nicotine, but all of the tar inhaled that builds up in your blood stream and thickens your blood. As for nicotine alone.. Most doctors do agree it's rather harmless. And in mild doses it has actually shown benefits. although the 20mg Salts they sell is an overkill. I've been using nic salts for about 4 months I switched from mixing my own juice with free base for 3 years prior to switching. Basically I got tired of garbage products and companies flooding the market with products low quality products. Since switching to salt nics in refillable pod systems I've had consistent lower back/side stomach pains. Like cramps almost. I've tried going back to free base and it just couldn't give me the convenience or head rush of the salts. This is the first video I've seen that has mentioned stomach pains possibly being related to too much nic, the thought has crossed my mind but I never fully connected the two. I'm going to try and quit cold turkey, nothing else has worked and I'm starting to get concerned my organs are taking significant damage. Any help or in put would be appreciated and I'll try to update on how my quitting is going.

Do you really think it's possible that the back pain is caused by salt nicotine? I use it since approx. 5-6 weeks and my lower back also hurts badly. More than it usually does. But I've never attributed it to the nicotine...

    @brandenwaters6116

@@ruanavailos4253 I didn't really think much of it until I switched back to freebase. Simple answer is I was hitting it too much for the salt nic at 45-50 mg and Poisoning myself. When I switched back all my internal pain went away I've since went back to salt nic but I'm only using 30 mg and I'm very wary of hitting it too often and I havent had any issues. This is just an observation and I'm not an expert but in my experience it absolutely had to be nicotine poisoning from using salt nic at too high mg and hitting to often.

Freebase didn't hit me quick enough to satisfy my craving, and by the time it kicked in, I was overdosed. I don't know if I'd recommend salts to someone already vaping freebase, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone looking to leave cigarettes behind.

I am going to try commenting without insulting you. Please don't make statements like "we switched to vaping to get off of nicotine". Maybe you should simply talk about why YOU switched to vaping. In my personal experience, I am vaping a lot less than I was before trying nicsalts. As opposed to vaping a 60ml bottle of 3mg in two days time I am down to about 60ml a week and about 4ml of nicsalts. You should probably come to the realization that all people are different, they have different motivations and needs/ wants. Don't be so self-righteous. Just because you take a couple rips of nicsalts doesn't actually mean you are increasing your overall nicotine intake.

I enjoy the hit of a salt better for MTL; it's closer and more natural to an analog without a toilet mouth afterward. My way to ensure I keep things under control is "by sticking with one salt and experimenting with flavors using freebase nic. I'd rather vape a muffin at 120 watts than potentially make myself sick even on lower salts. For me, the flavor still wins. As long as you can keep yourself in check that's cool. However, I think people can do what they want and hopefully we can tell the industry to give us a middle of the road solution vs hyping shit up so much. I partially blame KZread for this. As a hobbiest, I find myself buying things that sound great and enjoying them, but my old atty was fine. When does the salt not matter, and a more general question need to be asked: Are you addicted to buying stuff or nicotine, flavors, or all three? Just my free opinion. Again, good rant and it needed to be said. Let's be responsible people.

ive been sub ohm vaping for last 2 years. i started with pods and salt nic to get off cigs about 3 years ago. i still had my first sauron air and sauron drop pods. other day i decided to get a new pod for each and some new salt nic ( my old salt nics were 40-50 mg salt nic) and try them for the first time in 2 years. i got new juices (30 mg salt nic) bcause i thought the old 40-50 nic might be too high for me now. i got very nautious that night and it lasted til the next day. i had been so used to the vape and how you can go back to it and no probsl; guessing i over vaped my pods and it definitely did not go over well. i see now im not going back to pods and salt nic. im vaping sub ohm in 3 mg nic and the salt nic was definitely a high, and a full on brain and body reaction. the spacy brain feeling was very uncomfortable and the upset stomach affected the rest of my whole night. when i first quit cigs salt nic and pods were easy to use, a good way to start vaping and the strength quailed my nic needs. but going to sub ohm i can see now definitely brought my nic levels way down and my need to constantly chase a nic high.

Went to a vape shop tonight because my regular juice with 3mg nic kept making my coils burn like in a day. Coming off cigarettes I went to 12 mg nic in vaping and have finally got myself down to 3 and sometimes 1.5 nic. But tonight at the vape shop they told me that I need salt nic for my SMOK nord mod. I asked if they had 3mg nic in salt juice, and they said no all salt nics are higher but I won’t need to vape as frequently as I do with 3mg nic in reg juice. I told them that I’m trying to get off of nicotine and there’s no way that I could go up to 30 mg of nicotine. They told me that 30 salt nic is equivalent to my 3mg nic in regular juice. I bought the juice. But as soon as I took a hit I had that high. So I’m very weary that I’ve undone all my progress in going down. I don’t know, I kind of think they are trying to keep people vaping nicotine.

Sucks this is 6 years old, but you’re absolutely right. I just recently went back to free base because I not only could smoke less, but the coils would last 10x longer. Everyone says salt nic is better, cheaper, faster, smoother, and none of those things were true. I ended up hitting it way more often, the hits were harsher, the flavor wasn’t there after a couple hits, and not a single salt nic mod I could find would keep a coil longer than a few days before burning. The biggest difference was in how much I craved hitting each one though. Freebase I could put down for a week and not pick it back up without any issues at all. With salt nic I literally had to hit the thing all day every day or I’d start getting irritable. Also, screw the keyboard warriors acting like they graduated from MIT.. knowing damn well they googled every bit of that as biases to their own beliefs.. you never claim to understand the chemistry behind it, and they’re too dumb to realize that even if someone does understand the chemistry, there’s no way to back up objective claims like salt nic is smoother, better for quitting, etc. Someone would need to do case studies to even argue that, and you are basically a living breathing case study seeing that you work in the industry, whose only saying that these bogus open ended claims might not be the truth… Everything you stated about yours and others experiences is exactly what I experienced myself.

my dad has been smoking for 30 years and has tried to switch to vaping free base nicotine but it was close to impossible, but when trying salt nicotine he managed to quit smoking entirely so if vaping is "healthier" then salt nic isnt a bad choice at all. And maybe eventually make the change to free base nicotine since its less addictive. Also if you are addicted to free base nic and not cigarettes i strongly advice anyone to not change to salt nic.

Edit:others have mentioned this but it deserves reiterating! Seriously dude, nowhere in the world is freebase cocaine, aka crack, used to help addicts off cocaine. It is bizarre how freebase nicotine has a slower onset than salt nicotine so there is a reason for confusion. This does make your argument valid though as salt nic is (conversely to cocaine) faster acting than freebase and therefore much more addictive (and satisfying), like crack. This is also why nic salt has helped me stop smoking for the 1st time in 30 years, whereas freebase vaping was nowhere near good enough for anything apart from a sore throat and lungs in my experience.

Minor nitpick; deprotonization refers to the process of removing protons from the molecule, not proteins. They use ammonia because of its affinity to readily take protons from the molecules. This classifies it as a base which is anything above 7 on the ph scale. The opposite of this is an acid which will readily give its protons to molecules. They are anything below 7 on the ph scale. Might be a bit technical, but I have a passion for chemistry

I gotta say this video is spot on. I DIY my juice and played around with using salt nic. I think it works well in pod systems but for me those 25+mg commercial juices hit way too hard. I couldn't handle that much nic in any device and I have no idea how people can handle JUULs. I nearly coughed up a lung when I tried one a few months back. I mix for my pod systems at 3mg freebase + 6 mg salt nic for 9mg total. For my regular "tank juice" I mix at 1.5 - 3 mg. I've seen how nic intake can creep up with salts. Another issue is all the pod systems. I have to admit those small AIO or pods are fantastic for on the go vaping - no lugging around batteries and mods etc. maybe what's needed is a new line of "small devices" which are satisfying with lower dose nic. my two cents.

I started using the salt nic based e juice and now I have developed a cough. as soon as I stopped using the pod Set up for a few days the coughing went away🤷🏻‍♂️ thats using 35 nic either way as soon as I start back up coughing returns it doesn’t matter what brand of juice. I tried my high VG juice and the coils didn’t do well after a few days. so after two months of of jerking around with them i chucked my pod’s and salt nic e- juice in the trash. Couldn’t see giving them to anyone and possibly them having the same problem. I love my Vaping and im back to a 3-nic on my normal mod and tank set up’s and everything is back to normal. my wife and me both had the same problem. maybe it’s just us I don’t know. but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it I will stick to what works.👍

I use salt Nic and I have to say I have reduced my vaping by over half I’ve been vaping for 4 years now and if a 30ML 50 nic salt takes me over a month to go threw as of a 6 nic that I can’t put down my vape that takes me a week and constantly Vape . I can put my nic salt device down for several hours without even thinking of vaping. I work at a Vape shop as well. Everyone is different when it comes to vaping just want to tell you my experience. I do agree on not sub-ohm nic salts. I use an old school key fun 1.5 ohm 50 nic salt and I really love how much I’ve reduced my vaping intake.

idk i quit smoking after 14 years with juul, then refillable pod system with salt nic, and at 50 mg i felt like i couldn't get enough, i smoked 2 packs a day of cigarettes, if the strength weren't there, idk if it would have worked for me honestly, i'd even like maybe a 75 mg solution just so i don't have to rip it so often, my nicotine tolerance is enormous i realize but you asked for perspective- there's mine.

Thats the same experience for me as well. Nicsalt gives me the buzz all the time but the throat hit is too gentle that i alwqys want my pod be in my hand. Freebase is much harsher and gives a bunch of throat hit i really love thats why ive started to mix freebase and nicsalt. After i run out of salts i will use freebase only. No craving and a huge load of th that helps me best staying away from a good ol cig

That could be a good solution to start with salts nic, for people having trouble with regular nic. The most important is to drop that pack of tobacco in the trash. Great speech I totally agree with you.

I think that you should look more deeply into the chemistry involved with creating salt nicotine. It is not more natural from my personal investigations on the internet, Salt nicotine has been developed primarily for the new pod systems and has been converted to its salt form by a chemical process using various acetic conversion methods. With a pod system that is inherently designed to be a high resistance device ie., 1 ohm or higher, with very low wattage. therefore to get sufficient nic satisfaction for a former smoker using a pod, the draw is very restricted and vapor to the lungs very minimal with such Mouth to Lung (MTL) devices. therefore e-juice consumption is quite minimal under those conditions and a pod user may only consume 2 to 3 ml's of liquid in a day. Therefore to get the nicotine satisfaction a smoker formerly got from cigarettes, with a pod system the high mg nicotine salt formulation allows a satisfactory amount of nicotine to enter the body from only 2-3 ml of e-liquid. On the other hand a sub-ohm or direct to lung (DTL)vaper, vaping at significantly higher wattage (65-130 watts for instance) using a tank system that may hold 3 -8 mls of e-liquid, that vaper may consume up to 30mls of e-liquid daily. If vaping sub-ohm using 6mg freebase nicotine this would be some what equivalent to vaping 3ml of e-liquid with 40-50mg nicotine salts. (freebase = approx 180 mg nic consumed and nic salts approx 150mg nic consumed.) It is all relative to the type vaper you are. 50mg salt nic in a sub-ohm tank situation and vaping 30 ml of eliquid would be approx 1500 mg of nicotine consumption and one would not be able to get anywhere near that level before succumbing to nicotine overdose and its various ill effects. I hope that this sheds some light on the subject here. I personally began vaping four years ago with 12 mg freebase regular nicotine. I dropped down to 6 mg 3 years ago and found I vaped more at that lever using very low resistance coils. I wanted to reduce somewhat the quantity of e-liquid I was gong through, so lately I have been mixing my own e-liquid using 10-12 mg of nicotine salt and I am vaping less with the same satisfaction I had when using lower 6 mg nic but vaping more. The reason I did not go to the 10-12 mg nic level using the regular nicotine was because I found the harsher throat hit unpleasant. That is not the case with the smoother salt nic.

@Alaskavaper: You are absolutely right. To get the salt Nic formula the manufacturers the nicotine must be chemically treated. There are several ways to do that. Without that process nicotine salt would not work. And of course, with freebase nicotine you need to consume much more liquid to get the same satisfaction as with the salt Nic liquids.

I love salt nic. The first time I tried it, I effortlessly walked away from cigs. It’s still an addiction, to be sure, but so is smoking combustible tobacco. It’s the lesser of two evils.

I’ve had my exceed edge system for 2 days this far using a 50mg salt nic from naked, my expectation was that I would lessen my frequency of hitting it slightly and be able to vape in more places due to the discreet style and low vapor production, instead I do find myself reaching for it more often despite my subohm tanks and rdas providing more flavor and what feels to me more like a full vape, I fully agree with your statement regarding that it enters the blood stream and hits the receptors faster but doesn’t last. My only counter argument to you is that the increase in nicotine should be proportionate to the decrease in coil size/surface area as you’re literally not pulling as much of the vapor. Ie .15 mil of nicotine ingested per 1 second in the pull using a 3mg on 8 wraps of kanthal, as opposed to .075 mil ingested per 1 second pull using 4 wraps of kanthal, now obviously there’s no science to support this and these aren’t actual numbers, but they easily convey the idea of surface area of the coil hypothetically affecting the amount of nicotine ingested, however it’s pretty fucking clear that 50mg isn’t in any way proportionate using any numbers. I’d say the highest I could imagine is a 36 with the small ID and high gauge of wire in *MY* coil heads, but just food for thought, I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts @Robbie Vapes

sunglasses tan line, good video, i tried salt nics recently for the first time (20 mg) because i tried switching to a pod system, and i immediatley noticed having no throat hit made me want to vape it more, and along with that, i noticed the nic buzz felt different, instead of a instant typical headrush releif similar to cigarettes, it was a more a more subtle slow increase feeling of "coming up" it physically felt different and i did not enjoy it, using 12 mg of freebase on that same device was MUCH more satisfying, im thinking of going up to 18 freebase to reduce the amount im actually vaping, but yeah..no more salt nic for me.. However if salt nic helps you personally to get off cigarettes, please by all means stick to salts on lower powered devices, yes you may become more nicotine dependent... but regardless its much healthier than smoking

been vaping freebase for 3 years then this covid lockdown happened and i went back to cigs.... last december 2021 i've tried salt nic and yes it is good but after my device (relx) stopped working, i picked up my old mod and atty and went to freebase. i think it really depends on what the user wants.for me i want to get rid of the nicotine addiction, currently doing 3m freebase now and will be using 0mg after 2 quarters. for some i think they're just looking for a "less harmful" way of getting their dose of nicotine

Smartest video regarding nic salts that i have seen. I used ecigs back when they first came out. I quit smoking for 3 months at 1.5 mg. I ran out of e liquid one day, which sucked. Have been smoking ever since...i have spent probably around $500 buying and trying eliquids since then, and all make me sick..like an allergy kinda sick. I thought maybe it was dyes, then flavors, then type of nic used, then pg vs vg ratio etc. I can't get a break. I recently ordered nic salts, and same thing...but the lowest i could get was 15mg. Im going to try diy e liquid and if that doesn't work. I quit :( Btw...all vape shops selling e liquid should have a "testers corner". Thats half the battle for me....i have tons of liquid i can't vape. What a waste.

Well I Vaped regular ejuice at 3mg ended up running out of juice one day and started smoking on and off to the point where I was smoking 3-5 cigarettes a day and still vaping. I went and bought a Nexus one and some 30mg salt nic to help me get back off cigarettes and I can say happily that thanks to salt nic I'm finally off cigarettes again.

People vape for different reasons. That's like me telling people who workout that if you aren't trying to become a bodybuilder why are you in the gym. I smoke cigarettes when I drink. When I'm not drinking I can get away with just vaping. Sometimes when I drink I can vape nic salts and still not crave cigs. To each his own.

Imo there is a place for both of them. As long as people aren't smoking I'm fine with it, some people need salt nic to finally kick cigarettes, some find it helps keep away from smoking better than other ways of vaping. Now for some of the nic stuff you said... As far as I know, salt nic used in vaping starts off just like freebase nic. It is turned to a "salt" by adding some type of acid, most commonly benzoic acid. If anynting normal freebase nic is the less processed/more natural nic form (at least when it comes to vaping). I have learnt this stuff from being a diy juice dude. Lots of good info on Reddit about what salt nic is and how vape companies are creating it (you can make your own salt nic from freebase nic at home with the right ingredients)

good informative video. one correction at 2:20 its "deprotonate" not "deproteinate" Nicotine is an alkaloid that can be isolated as a free-base, but when combined with an acid becomes *protonated* (gains a proton, or hydrogen ion) and forms a salt. Its not about proteins, its about protons. Source: am scientist.

I find it easier to gunk up the cotton by using Salt Nic (I dunno, maybe just me). Been using a few pod device for my Salt Nic experience (Zeltu, Pasito, Nord, Jester). It's good & very quickly knocks you in the head :D, but I find it hard to go past 2 days of vaping without replacing my cotton (especially Pasito). Longest I've ever been using a single coil is 2 days (Pasito's RBA) and 4 days (using Nord 0.6ohm coils) before start noticing the black-ish liquid & charred taste. Anybody else experiencing this?

Good opinion piece, and I see the validity here. When I first heard about nic salts, I was interested. I still vape nic salts, but certainly not all day (4mls of 45mg nic salt liquid easily lasts me a week). I'm serious. I use lower freebase nic such as 3 or 1.5 in a large lung hitter tank and that's more for the flavor and enjoyment factor of hot clouds. So in other words, I think like anything in this industry, let's not go crazy and over-react. So far the comments are fine. I am just not looking forward to another Nickel wire or DI and AP found in liquid. All a big mess. Especially now, we need to stay united in most respects and stand for what we have tried to make a safer (I didn't say harmless) way for smokers to switch or quit altogether. If people use salts, fine. If people like freebase, fine.
