    Hey man, I'm new to coding on Roblox and followed this guide to mess around with some stuff but I noticed that with the cooldown mechanic even though it is set to put whatever key you pressed on cooldown, it also activates when you press other keys. For example when moving around using WASD that causes the cooldown to activate, or clicking with the mouse. I tried making it to where the "db = true" after the button is pressed but it allows for a couple key presses before the "db = true" I know that there are probably more efficient ways to make something like this but I like this method. It could also be a fault in my code but I pretty much just copied and pasted it from this video.

  • @byteblox100

    @byteblox100

    There’s definitely a more efficient method and that’s doing the cooldown on the server. So what I would usually do is make an empty table on the server, add the player id inside of it during the event, wait my cooldown, and then loop through the table and remove the player id

    Hey man got a question here: at 10:07 how does the script know what plr is since its just an variable right? Im sorry if it sounds stupid but shouldnt you specify what plr is with something like: local plr = game.player.localplayer?

    We're basically using a for loop and getting all the players in the game so if v == plr (if you find a player while looking through players) then ***rest of code*** you don't need to define plr as roblox already defined it. I'm pretty sure that's why

    slight issue, isnt for i,v loop the i index in the table? cuz for counting how many times it ran u would use for i = 1,100 for example

    i is the index yes. A table that just has values will mean that “i” is equal to the number of loops, but you are able to give values custom indexes, and then “i” will be equal to that index and not the number
