as you know..this car use Renault engine.. It was not like previous Proton base on Mitsubishi.

You should bought because its rarest car

I had a blue one from new back in 2006. Had it up until 2015. It became a bit of a nightmare, a lot of weird electrical problems. I always liked the look of it though, they should have done a hot hatch version. I would like a one again, if only for the nostalgia.

Yes I had a chilli red one AP08 SNY. Bought it with 4000 miles and sold it was 53,000 on the clock I absolutely loved driving it, it stuck to the road like glue although it wasn’t fast, handling was great and it had the best driving position of any car I’ve ever driven. I’d like another for nostalgia too!

Sadly this car was unpopular in Malaysia becoz of AMT transmission problem Renault parts are not cheap in our country so Proton Savvy was discontinued no more new version 😢

I still have mine for 15 years. Great fuel efficiency and as a city car.

I think you made the right decision. The airbag light could be a bit of a headache. I never liked the later restyle of the Savvy as much. The original grill, alloys and badge positioning looked much nicer in my opinion. A clean one of those would be good to hunt down. Sadly this was the era where Proton build quality was a bit pants. Things marked and scratched very easily and that engine needed worked to make decent progress. Quite fun when you did though

I went to go see the proton savvy when they were new at a dealer, it was only smallish dealer as well I thought the styling was great, I saw one in a bright metallic green colour, central exhaust, looked sporty with the yellow dials I was at college at the time training to be a mechanic and as soon as the dealer said "it's based on a Renault clio" I was completely put off As I knew how troublesome the mk2 clios were and the 1200 engines weren't great

Yes I have to agree - it honestly was horrible to drive

Sensible decision. I was thinking £750 ,£1000 tops so too expensive. For me the killer is the abs light as could be expensive. Thinking you are better saving the money to save the older and in my humble opinion more desirable Protons . Great enjoyable video thou 😊

My thoughts exactly

Deff not the one that got away, needs too much work and I would be sticking to Protons with Mitsubishi engines plus this Savvy just looks dull in the grey. The GTI was the one that got away with 50 odd k on the clock that you talked about, it's in collector condition and immaculate, I knew the car and think it sold to another collector. As a contrast I got a 1.3 Satria not long back mint condition no rust or faults one owner needed nothing apart from tyres with just under 9,000 miles on it, bidding went to £880, I had to put in 1000 just so it didn't go to cheap! Now has 13,000 on it, only catch is tax is a killer, 2001 car and for a 1.3 it's a silly £365 a year! So yes I would be patient Jon and wait for better ones unless you're just finding ones like these for content and not to keep etc.

Probably a sensible decision in reality. An interesting car in some respects, but probably not that easy to get trim parts for, and not worth a lot in reality, even if it has been loved by its previous owner

Unless it is special (special edition or similar) then don't bother. You have plenty of cars so need to pick those which are a good example of the model to buy. Unless they are dirt cheap. Correct decision.

Sensible decision Jon, alot of spannering needed to make that saleable. Ironically Holbeach had a Proton dealer, Massey O’Brien, after been Ford for years, so a nice Savvy might be tucked up safe somewhere. Years ago, We looked at a 5 year old Skoda Felicia 1.6 SLX estate @ Mill Hill garage, rare car even then, awaiting preparation ! scratched & chips all over, interior disgusting & headlining impregnated with dog hair, glove box full of dog biscuits, Salesman offered £100 off, if I cleaned it myself 🤣🤣🤣 & eventually admitted it was previously owned by a Newfoundland dog breeder,

Shame you didn't buy it really, looks a canny little thing, but sounds too expensive. They're a 1.2 Renault engine, so likely needs a timing belt too!

yes i think your right,, kinda quirky car but £500.00 tops,,i would drive one,, was there a two door version, am sure i knew an old boy that had one that i thought was a two door,

you may be right was a couple years ago now it was a light purple sorta pinky colour if that makes sense, similar situation the old boy passed away am sure was a 58 plate ended up at we buy any car for i think 350 pounds,,@@JonCoupland

Never saw one of these before! Are there many left? Maybe it's not your ideal car but still worth saving for somebody else to enjoy

Becoz proton using Renault engine for Savvy not many users in Malaysia this days rare to seeing one on the roads today 😅

Beli proton savvy,ape barang...kan ada saga,iswara,wira,satria,waja,gen2..beli aje lah kereta proton lain2...Juara pun jgn dibeli..malu kat orang tengok😂
