Hey Megan! I am a rising first year at UVA and this video was so helpful!!! I am interested in the comm school too....are you going to make a vid about business at UVA? I am kinda nervous abt keeping my GPA high (to get into mcintire) and still being social and taking advantage of the opportunities at UVA but super excited for the fall!!!

totally get where you're coming from!! i think i might make a video about it this summer/talk about it in my first year video bc there's definitely some things i've learned along the way! first semester i struggled trying to figure everything out but i still bounced back so don't stress too much about it!

YAY thank u so much for watching!! while i never experienced the out of state experience, I definitely had a lot of friends first year who were out of state. my best advice is to keep your door open the first couple of weeks and join organizations & such to meet as many people as possible! honestly college (in state or out of state) is a little hard to make friends at first, so just be open to anything! it takes time (more than ppl let on), I didn't find my closest friends until second semester first year. you will find your people!!

I know you said you joined a sorority and are involved in a few other activities but do you have any other suggestions? Stay healthy!!

Catherine M joining a sorority was actually super cool to get to know other girls who were involved in different things I’ve learned so much from them!! I went to the spring activities fair (after first semester) & told myself I was going to try & find two things I could do. Madison house is huge at UVA and has almost all kinds of volunteering. There’s also a website of all of the clubs so honestly just go through there and see what piques your interest & reach out to the president of the club or something & see how you can get involved! If you’re interested in media, WUVA is the best ;)

Im a freshman in high school but i already know that i want to go to UVA for labor & delivery nursing. so excited!! thanks for the video!

Hey! I got into the McIntire School as a out of state transfer. For me the cost of attendance is $85k and I got a scholarship of $64k which makes the total net cost $21k. Do tou think it’s worth the cost? Thank you!

Abigailia not sure if they look for this specifically but something I’ve noticed is that a lot of people here are passionate about something!! so in your essays if you’re talking about a topic that you’re passionate about (whether it’s something big or small), they’ll definitely be able to see that! I actually made a video with essay writing tips (esp. about creating a narrative about yourself) but imo that’s how u stand out on an application. most people have around the same grades/test scores (ish) so what really makes ur app is ur essays!!

make sure your grades are good, study hard for the sat/act & get involved in things you're passionate about!! & when you go to fill out your college apps, spend a lot of time on your essays - they really make you stand out!

Julia Funck 2 more tips: 1, apply Early Decision. This basically means that if you get accepted, you HAVE to go. You have a MUCH higher chance of getting in this way than applying through Regular. 2, see if you can do some sort of summer program at UVA. It’s a good way to show interest, and you can reflect upon it in your essays. Good luck!

hi!! i believe that if you don't get into the school of nursing, you don't get into uva at all - they don't put you into the pool for arts & sciences :/

I am a posse semifinalists from Houston, Texas. It has UVA an option of one of the partner schools. I want to study computer science but want to hear something from you how good that schoo is in this major

considering transferring there but I’m an out of state student and it’s so expensive :(

yes!! you can apply into the McIntire School of Commerce (business school) when you are a second year in your second semester. unfortunately you can't apply straight into mcintire when you get to uva bUT it's kind of nice because you can explore other interests too!

Is there an overwhelming Greek life scene?

I wouldn't say so! I think it's about ~30% of people here, which really isn't a lot, compared to other schools. I've loved my experience in greek life, but it's not for everyone. I have so many friends in and outside of greek life that it's just a small part of me, not my whole social life/personality haha

I'm a transfer international student in China and I have never been to UVA due to coronovirus TAT. I take online synchronize class for almost one year

no!! i have loved being a part of greek life but i have a ton of friends outside of greek life as well. it's a great supplement to my life but not my whole life if you know what i mean!
