I've shared my life with both dobies and rotties,,and Love them both~! The dobie I have now is SO sensitive lol,,we call him grandpa :))) But he's in top of things when it comes to being a guard dog,,even now at 12 yrs old with hip dysplasia...... My rottie taught herself to alert me when my infant son would have seizures,,she saved his life many times and for that she'll always hold a special place in my Heart💗

I've had 2 rotties,,and 5 dobies. Only had issues with one of the dobermans,,and with a newborn baby I had to find a new home for him,,he actually scared me. I couldn't trust him at all😢 These days I do pit bull rescue and have an AmStaff,an English staffie,,and of course,,my old man dobie~Grandpa lol. All 3 breeds are wonderful for their own reasons,,but the AmStaff wins hands down when it comes to the cuddle factor~!! She's also ALWAYS smiling,which makes ME smile. And I don't smile enough these days soooo..... 😁🐾🐕

Same that's the main reason I decided with a rottweiler. I'd have gotten one if I had more time and energy.

I had a Doberman growing up, he died of cancer around 20 years ago and I never had another dog after that. He was the best, smartest, most loving and protective dog.

I was too confused between rottie and dobbie but at last I chose dobbie.. An intelligent, energetic, loyal, obedient and a muscular dog.. Your videos and comparisons are great, love Ur videos..

Wandering Panda no the European Doberman was the original one as it was bred to be a guard dog. But the American Doberman was changed to look more sleek for shows.

I had a dobie when I was younger, champion bloodline, huge beautiful, prolly the most impressive doberman I have ever seen. He was extremely smart, funny, obedient and loyal. Then we got a bullmastiff boxer, ridgeback mix from a friend that couldn't keep him anymore. This dog was a couple years younger, but still an adult. They played a lot, but the doberman was kind of an asshole. He was constantly bugging him, punkin him for food, and reminding him who the alpha was. He never pushed it too far, he was just a smart dog and he enjoyed being a dick to this other dog. Don't get me wrong, they enjoyed eachother much of the time, and we went on lots of adventures, and they became friends an played. One day when this bullmastiff mix was a littler older and in his prime, they were down at the beach playing tug of war with a stick and it got heated (instigated by the doberman) and the mastiff just snapped and nearly ripped his face off. I was punchin him in the nose, kickin him in the gut, anything I could do and he wouldn't let go. I finally got him to let go and the doberman lunged at him to try to get a bite in, the mastiff brushed it off, grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and flipped him on his back and then went for the throat. I pulled him off at that point, thankfully, but it was a close call. The mastiff btw was around the same weight, but a little shorter than the doberman, about 24" 100 lbs. The doberman was around 30", 120 lbs, both athletic. Anyways, I'm not sure a dobie is a good dog to have with a fighting breed. The dobie uses intimidation, growling and snarling to gain dominance, but they are more bark than bite. The mastiff knew what to do and easily dispatched him. After that day, he became the most alpha dog I've ever seen. He never messed with other dogs, just had a calm confidence about him. He would never start fights, but he's been in a few with other alpha dogs fuckin with him at the park or in the neighborhood, and he destroys them quickly, before I can even stop the fight. I hate dog fighting, but he's the most natural fighter I've ever seen. Back to the doberman- that wasn't the last fight they got in either, because the doberman wouldn't accept his loss and wanted to still be alpha. Eventually he gave the mastiff respect, but it took a few ass whoopins. Moral of the story, don't keep a doberman with a fighting breed, even if they're neutered, it still can be a problem. It's like an immovable object, meeting an unstoppable force. Obie, the doberman died early of a heart condition and the alpha dog Roscoe is 12 years old and still in perfect health, strong and alpha as ever lol. Actually, we didn't learn our lesson and got another doberman, this one a rescue that was dog aggressive. I know, you must think I'm crazy, but I love dobermans and this dude was beaten, abused, neglected and needed a home- no-one wanted him. Well, I worked with them and used what I learned from the previous 7 years and they have become good friends, and only had a few scruffs, not even full blown fights. The doberman accepted him as alpha and they live peacefully till this day.

You can't go wrong with a Rottweiler! Great choice! My Rottweiler protected me and my family for over 12 years back in the 90's. I was living in Colombia South America and at the time it was very dangerous. My dog saved my life several times! R.I.P. 😞

Dogs best thing on earth, Dobermans just a cut above the rest.

You're very balanced and rational in explaining both sides and how it applies to you. We're pretty lucky to live in countries where we're able to make these choices. Thank you for your perspective.

Never owned either yet but I’m yet to meet a Rott or Doberman that didn’t let me pet them.( the owners was there of course)

My family had several Dobermans while growing up. I remember the first, his name was Baron and he was a very large Warlock black and tan. Very obedient, protective and a great family dog. After that we had a Red,, a blue and a few blk & tan's. All great dogs but, never measured up to Baron. The one negative thing about the breed I've found is they all seem to get a little sketchy when they get older. As a kid I never trusted any of them. You could never run or play around them. They would nail you. Hard! After I left home, I found the Rottweiler. Love a first sight. They were everything the Doberman was and more. Rotties are very trustworthy and loving on top of everything else. I've had 4 Rotties over the years and the only negative is they don't live long enough. All died of cancer before the age of 10. My last only made it to 7 1/2 years old. My heart can't handle another Rottie...

I have a Rottweiler right now which I love. But I remember when I was 2 years old our neighbor had a Doberman Pinscher that they would let me play with all the time sometimes not even being supervised very closely. I remember standing up on my tiptoes trying to hug the Doberman pincher "Percy" around the neck. Percy the Doberman Pinscher was the first encounter with a dog I had ever had in my life. So Ive always loved Doberman Pinschers. But my husband had fantastic experience with his previous Rottweiler. I love my Rottweiler and I have no regrets. The most well-behaved most well-rounded and most intelligent dog I've ever known in my life.

So in love w/your baby! The Rottie also meets our needs. I hope to have one someday! Until then, I shall enjoy watching your puppy grow in so many ways!

Dobermans simply require more work than Rotties. They are very athletic, and for their size, are powerful protectors. Dobies are always watching, thinking and trying to please their owners. But they can be a hand full. Mine could open cabinets and doors, and could hurdle 5' fences easily. He loved to play outdoors, but loved to be inside with me as well. Dobies are great car riders, and mine did well on a leash. He was alone in the house a few hours until my wife came home from work, so we crate trained him to keep him out of trouble. My step-daughter's Rottie was never trained, and was a spoiled brat. She basically took over the house. She jumped up on you to greet you and wanted to be in your lap when you sat down on the couch. She weighed well over 100 lbs, so this was a big problem. She did not have a mean bone in her body, but was very strong willed. At age 5, she developed a mass on her chest. A year later she had to be put down. So I lean more toward the Doberman because of my personal experiences. Whatever breed you choose, get them some professional training. Remember, shelters and rescue groups are full of adult dogs that need a home. Consider this when choosing your next family member.

Derek Suddreth I’ve heard Dalmatians are worse than Dobermans. In terms of energy and I heard Dalmatians can be very aggressive and deaf. A reason why I don’t see people own Dalmatians anymore.

@@ryancentnarowicz There was a local dalmatian who was an escape artist, and had high prey drive to boot. She wiped out almost all of the cats in the neighborhood by running them down and shaking them to death. Animal control picked her up twice and the owner bailed her out both times. A police officer commented to a neighbor that he could protect his animals on his property. The next day we heard a shotgun pop off two rounds. Never saw that dog again... Not the dog's fault! The irresponsible owner was to blame.

Derek Suddreth Oh geez that’s so sad... cat owners should also keep their cats inside too! Where I live we have coyotes around and Coyotes love to have cat for dinner. If a Coyote gets a cat that’s the cat owners fault because letting your cat roam freely like that your knocking on Mother Nature’s door.

When I was four a Doberman out it's tooth through my cheek, the owners were family friends for decades and saw that dog so many times and BOOM out of nowhere. This is why I definitely didn't pick a Doberman over a rottie. (Biased I know)

I really respect your explanation and understand it. Growing up my uncle had thee friendliest dobe and he lived with 2 other dogs peacefully no problem. A good friend bred dobes and pit bulls, basically I never heard of any problems in her multi-dog home. She usually had 4-5 dogs so multiple dogs would be intact together and no real trouble. I know you cited your experience I just wanted to put that out there too. I think dobes can be great in a multi-dog home as well.

I just got my 8 week old Rottweiler 6 days ago, boy is she a beauty and a total sweetheart.

I think Rotties may need a little less exercise, I think Rotties may be more affectionate towards its family.

Also, for anyone interested, My girl Sombra is an example of a Doberman being super dog friendly with other large breed, she is our first dog and then we added another female (Hungarian Vizsla) and a male (Belgian Malinois/GSD mix) and they get along great. Actually out of the three she is the “most tolerant”to her younger siblings :)

I was about similar questions when I was thinking about perfect the dog for me. And I chose doberman. European line, high drive, stubborn, tough. He is one year old now and I am thinking about second. I just love this intelligence, agility and very quick reactions. Of course dobermans have much more energy than rottweilers but for me it's an advantage. I love that we can go to the training session for IPO/IGP and after an hour dog is still "fresh" and ready for tasks. Best choice if someone want to do protection work or any other sport with dog.

If breeding lines of both are strong and the selling breeder takes active and responsible steps to minimize long-standing and well-known genetic health issues choosing a between a Rottweiler and a European Doberman Pincher is a matter of individual preference. Most importantly Rottweilers and European Doberman Pinchers are individuals and while certain breed-specific traits can be generalized, the degree these breed-specific traits will be expressed based on the individual dog's personality, early socialization, and training.

Why Rotties tend to get fat, unfit, and clumsy. How to grow a fit, healthy agile Rottie. And if it's just in an average Rottie's tendency to get fat and little can be done about this.

Best dog I ever had. Won't go near again because of health issues. Life expectancy is 8-10 years which is horrendous, almost as bad as great danes. You no sooner have them raised and trained and they are rising , in a blink of an eye. Constantly hear.from work colleague who have friends or family that had.Gotta and I hear dead at 4, dead at 7 over and over and over. Kills me because they are the most incredible dogs on the planet.. Looking my Moe crushed me, devastated me like nothing in my life before.

Awesome video ! I have a 2 year old European dobie and it’s funny I ran into this video bc I want another dog and was thinking about getting a Rottweiler.

Good choice on the name, my Doberman passed away last December and his name was Rosko too! Next I will be doing a male Rottie and female Dobbie together. My college roommates had a Rottweiler, Pitbull, and Boxer, and the Rottie and my Dobbie were best friends out of the group, both breeds can be social depending on how early you start them, great videos!

I've owned two Rottweilers and they are the best of the best. U made the right decision. Dobermans are great as well but u better have the yard or health to walk them regularly because they damn near have a no cut off switch.

Huge fan of your channel! Great content for relatively new dog enthusiasts like me. I also debated whether we should get a Dobie or a Rottie for our first dog, I went with a BEAUTIFUL female Dobie (Sombra) mainly because, while I love the Rottweiler, I just can’t deal with their massive slobbering, been around many American style dobies and are amongst the few large dog breeds that do not drool. My girl NEVER slobbers and I love that about her. She is fearless, crazy smart, and súper obedient.

Love your videos. Respect your open mind opinions! I’m planning on getting a Rottie when I retire. What knowledge do you have, if any about feeding dogs raw meat? I came across a lot of videos that point out it’s better for the dogs compared to how Kibbles are made and what they are made of.

One of my friends knew a girl who was being abused by her dad. She had a Doberman named Satan. He was abusing her and she started yelling Satan. Her bedroom window was open Satan came through the window and tore him up.

I own a Rottie and he is the smartest dog I have ever owned. He learned play dead in 12 minutes lol. But I am looking into getting a Dobermann too. I am just afraid of how much exercise they need. As far as intelligence, from my research on the Dobie, I think the Rottie is booksmart (teach it what YOU want and it’ll do it). While the Dobie is streetsmart (more free thinkers. That’s why they can trick you and are considered more intelligent). That’s why they need to be trained well. I love my Rottie and he set the bar so damn high for other dogs in my future lol. But I don’t think it’s because of his breed, I just got lucky with his personality. He hasn’t done any damage to my house, he catches on quickly, and he doesn’t look like a normal big Faced Rottie xD (he’s American), he is also very cuddly!

I had 3 Dobermans .they loved each other

My first doby would make sure other big dogs would know she planned on being the dominant one, then all was good. My current doby just goes into the situation with caution, and stands with confidence and when the other big dogs approach her, then all is good. She usually ignores them after that because she wants to be with me rather than interact with other dogs.

You made a good choice. I own a Doberman and I wouldn't trade him for the world. It's more about how the dog fits into your life than little details. Raise them right and they can all be great family pack members and protectors. There are several Dobies and Rotts in the town where I live. All great dogs!

But it’s like now ever since I got a new Rottweiler shirt I’ve been going back-and-forth with both wreaths and I can’t decide which should I pick I’ll be honest but it will take time

Would you do a video on some breeds that would make a good hiking companion with endurance to withsta d the weather and treacherous terrain.

I have had three Rotties and they were awesome and i had both the german and american blood lines. What i found was they both bloodlines were excellent family dogs. i have also had GSD as well.

I respect your decision on choosing a rottie over dobbie..but saying the dobbie has a bad reputation over rottie, that's why you choose rottie, Its a big disagree..

I have small children and I have 2 Rotties. I couldn’t ask for better family dogs. Playful and protective can’t beat it!

I'm a Doberman owner and I also feel the Dobermanwill will require more activity. I find the Rottweiler a little aloof. You brought up some great points especially cropping and docking. I appreciate your honesty. Thanks and good luck with your new addition.

Dobbies are just as nice looking with floppy ears, i love my boy lol though i do love his docked tail. Rotties are awesome dogs too especially when they are not over weight

Please do one of these about why you chose the rottie , over the bull mastiff.

I love rotties. Currently have a dobe and as you say, love them too. My girl is a bit over 2yr old and she just loves to play with other dogs. Very gentle. I'm looking at getting another dog and its currently a toss up between a euro dobe and rottie. Thanks for your video and your perspective. All my best to your new boy!

I have a 135 lb female Rottweiler myself. She’s definitely a great family dog, gets along amazingly well with my 100 lb American Bulldog male. I Also have 2 cats, everybody gets along fine. Outsiders, that’s a different story. This hodgepodge is a pack and they stick together. Rotti’s are excellent family dogs.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Dobie!!! She is beautiful, intelligent, she loves my kids and plays very well with them. My Dobie turned 4 yrs. Old yesterday and my oldest daughter is 6 and my youngest daughter is not yet two. And they absolutely love each other!! Now we almost got the rottweiler too, because my best friend had one. He was the sweetest, best dog and my husband wanted one of our own, but we decided on the Doberman because of the hair, drool, and flatulence of the rottweiler lol My Dobie's tail was of course already docked, breeders usually do that at 3 days old, so that's already done. And honestly the ear cropping wasn't that bad. The worst part was taking them down. But we had a good vet with good cropping references and honestly she didn't even notice that much, at least she didn't act like it bothered her, except for taking them down and that was because the tape was sticky and it wasn't as big of a deal as people make it out to be for me or for her. Extremely pleased with her, glad we went with a Doberman, even though everyone we knew said not to get one lol

I was never a fan of cropping & docking either. But it's true. Dobermans don't look right without it.

To be fair the creator of the breed had them cropped and docked as apart of the final look when he had finished creating it.When you think Doberman I think of a dog thats cropped and docked bc thats what people have seen since it was created.An uncropped one looks like some sort of coonhound with black and tan markings so I get what Zeke was saying

I want the a Euro Doberman as well and I’ve come up with the same conclusion; dealing with the headache of docking and cropping and if they don’t crop right yikes!!!! I’m leaning towards the rot right now

I totally agree with you about the points about cropping/docking. That's the biggest downside of the Doberman to me.

I have a Doberman the tail comes docked already they do it when the puppy Doberman is 2 to 3 days old the cropping is work I had 3 months of taping the ears every week you take off the old on Wed. and Friday go back for re-tapings it's a lot of WORK.

Why not a working gsd?? Please do a video, would love to hear ur opinion. I know somebody who has a rotty and Doberman, both dogs get along well. Peace

Everyone has them (way more than rotties) , shed like crazy, dont look scary, very light and not as big

Because rottweilers are more intimidating than the German Shepherds because of their bigger size, head and big jaws

ever wonder why most police/security/protection dogs are GSD?...

i agree, they look very strange without the cropping and docking, but i dont really want to do that for moral reasons but also because... i just rather not.

Respect your choice, but all dobes in the EU aren’t cropped or docked and they are beautiful

HEY BROTHER YES I LOVE UR ROTTWEILER.

It was a toss up between a Doberman, Rottweiler, and German Shepherd for me. The GSD was eliminated as a choice pretty quickly because of the shedding. My preference was probable 51 Dobie and 49 Rottie, it was still a toss up. They are both beautiful dogs. I think I like the squared away look of the Doberman more. Everything else was about the same. Both fit well into my active lifestyle; both are intelligent and protective. I ended up choosing the Doberman Pinscher. But I continue to believe my next dog will be a Rottweiler (or Cane Corso or Presa Canario or German Shepherd Dog).

Love the Doberman grew up with them...now have a Rottie! she loves kids,other dogs etc. other family members have Dobermans...I am now team Rottie!!.what a fantastic loving protective smart dog!!!

I have to agree with you. I prefer a Rotti over a Doberman for the same reasons. Although the Dobe is a great breed as well

I am always going to go with a dachshund. Best criminal mind and smartest heart. The toughness and stubbornness appeals. The ridiculous design and hound and terrier traits are compelling. I also like the catlike aloofness and their Velcro tendencies. I prefer the standard size and the smooth coat and the Black and Tan colour. I like the huge personality and the quick and clever movement. There are health issues that are very avoidable with choosing a reputable breeder. I am very tall and I am conscious of the height disparity but every dachshund I have ever had has a commanding presence. My dogs have literally stopped trains, traffic, tractor trailers, other dogs and lured children away from their parents. I have always returned the children, by the way. I think when you have a dog and a breed you know and love and respect the best bond is the result. Stick with your heart breed. I love your channel and I love your respect for all the reputable breeders and the magnificent dogs out there. Thank you for all that you do❤️
