Why I chose the Harley Dyna Low Rider S
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video, I go over some of the reasoning behind why I traded in my Iron 883 and upgraded to the Harley-Davidson Low Rider S.
Here's a run down:
1.) This bike just looks sick. Black and gold... it's stylish, sleek, and menacing! Top marks on the design note.
2.) The POWER! Seriously tons of power on demand from the 110 cubic inch power plant they've dropped into this thing. You can cruise and take it easy if you want, or twist the wrist a bit more and unleash it's inner monster!
3.) Finances: They gave me quite a bit for my trade in and came down to what I was asking + hooked it up! (Warranty, gift card, and more!) They really took care of me and worked with me to send me home with this bike!
4.) Aftermarket options: As with most Harley's, there's a ton of aftermarket options to customize the bike and make it your own. I've already done Bassani exhaust, V&H FP3, LED signals, LED Daymaker style Headlight, swingarm bag, headlight grille, and I've got a box of goodies in the garage just waiting to go on to continue the customization!
5.) The feeling of the bike / handling! I love the fact that vs other Low Riders, the Low Rider S comes with the 110, drag bars, and mid controls. As per my previous bike, I'm a fan of drag bars and mids. To me, it makes the bike feel more sporty, and it feels just as nimble as the Sportster... just with an 1800cc engine instead. It's like a Sportster, but on steroids... it's a total beast.
A few of my additional thoughts and likings on the Low Rider S:
- Dyna platform, tried and proven
- 6 Speed transmission! Awesome for interstate and highway runs!
- The 110ci engine has been in Harley's line up for 10 years in the CVO models, so they're not a new production engine, meaning less bugs and problems to work out of them.
- Good stopping power w/ the dual disc brakes
- Keyfob, awesome, just get on and go!
- Cruise control & ABS!
- Security system
- As much as I didn't like it at first... the headlight fairing! Really helps w/ the wind on longer rides, don't take wind to the helmet near as much.
I'm sure more will come up, and I'll be sure to update the channel as they do, but that's some of my thoughts on the bike for now!
Edit: Special shout out to Ethandobad on iG for the info on the bike before I purchased it!
As always, thanks for tuning in all! Be sure to Like / Comment / Subscribe!
Till next time, you all ride safe out there, & stay vigilant!
Deuces!

I've been torn on which bike to get for a while, but the 48 was high on my list.... until I came across this channel. Long story short, I'm now also the proud owner of Dyna Low Rider S, last they had here too. Thanks for the great videos. I have a great bike now and you have another subscriber!

New subscriber I'm coming off an iron to the 2018 street bob i agree with you on the upgrade didn't realize I outgrew it until i rode my friends low rider s super pumped for my new bike to arrive!
Sorry to see you sell the Iron. I am considering getting one myself and your vids have been really helpful. Have fun with the Low Rider S!
I'm happy for you, I'm looking to get a roadking in the next couple of years.
Really a nice sound from those pipes, I like it!
Love the video! I'm buying a Gopro here soon to start moto vlogging as well. I own a low rider as well with performance mods and some other cool stuff. Hope to grow the new channel I'll be making soon and one day to meet you. Keep up the great content Block!
I really want to thank you for your method of speech. I appreciate that you don't sound like a total douche-nozzle, as seems to be customary amongst most moto-vloggers. Cheers.

Check out SRKcycles
Dig that Low Rider-S exhaust note on my 85-watt PC setup! Your fly screen does help relieve the 'chest punch' at highway speeds. And I-4 is always an obstacle course in progress.
Congrats! I so wanted to FXLDS but it was a little out of my budget so I opted for the Street Bob and am so in love. Already got an aftermarket aircleaner and headlight. Next up are the pipes and you sold me on the Bassani radial sweepers they look and sound mean. Really loving the dyna chassis!

gatesb77 Street Bobs are great man, lots of potential! Glad you like the Bassani sweepers, they sound great!
Thanks for this video - I'm an Iron 883 rider but am renting the Dyna Low Rider for vacation touring in about a week. If I hit the highway/interstate more often, I'd make this vacation a prospective new bike experiment. But for city driving I think I'll stick with a sporty and bore for 1200. Smaller, leaner, more agile, and most importantly, easier to squish between cars for free parking!
Siiiiiick. I saw that the test ride vid and that is by far the one I would have chose. Dream bike.

That bike is super sweet! Congrats!
Man it feels like after every video I watch of yours it just gives me a little extra shove to get one but only two problems I got are my parents lecturing me about bikes and how dangerous they are, and lastly I don’t know what bike to get for my size because I’m 6’6 and 243... but absolutely love your videos!
That bike is sick! I love mine! It absolutely rips! I did a Vance and Hines 2 into 1 hi output short and it sounds mean!

I own the exact same bike, had it for almost a year and currently have 7K miles on it. Everything you've said is on point with this equipment, but most important subject you touched is the finances. I believe your credit score is the tip of anybody's iceberg. It takes time and effort to build and maintain it so in a way it reflects the type of person you are.
Good choice, man very Nice bike !!! Drive safe 👊🏻

Crazyhorse69hd Lowrider' S 117ci Thank you! How do you like having the 117? Huge difference? 😁
Great choice! enjoy your new ride.
Congrats on the new ride. In 1999 I traded my 98 Sportster 1200C for a 93 Dyna Low Rider. I put 22,000 miles on that bike in 2 years. It was a lot of fun. Since then, I have had 2 Buell XBs, the S and the SS, which are both gone now. I just got my Roadster back from the 1K service. I keep coming back to the XL platform, there's just something about them. I also have an FLHR for the highway, and touring. Love that bike as well, but it's not nearly as much fun as the Toadie. Stay safe, knees in the breeze.
Been wanting too trade in my gsx-r 600 for a lowrider s. Great video man!
1993 FXRS (90th Anniversary). 20-30K per year and no problems. Good choice! Low Riders rock! Thinking of getting a new Low Rider as a backup...
Man I love your bike. Making me want to consider trading my ‘11 Wide Glide...
The blacked out fairing is a MUST HAVE for me
Nice bike, i may be picking one of those up soon..
I literally went to Harley today and did the exact same thing. Traded my 883 for a stage 2 low rider, and Harley hooked up the deal
As mentioned by someone else it does remind of the fxdx.I had one my only complaint was rear cylinder heat on R thigh.made it miserable to ride in summer through town, red lights and such. Love that blacked out look.
Funny to see you riding in these spots. I drive them multiple times a week, always out on mills 50 hanging out! Local Floridian checking in! Nice bike man; going to look at a 2017 dyna low rider s tomorrow.
when I see this bike its associated for me with only three words - Sons of Anarchy!

2 reasons to buy this bike... The power... and the sound... soo much torque on it ;D
That's my dream bike now. First time I saw it I thought that's exactly what I'd do to a low rider or super glide
I LOVE the front fairing yo
Now I need this bike.
Looking good! 👌
Sick bike love it .thinking about getting the street Bob, Just like you got to see how much I can get for my sportster 883xl.
Nice video, feels like im riding watching this video :) btw what kind of audio and video setup do you wear if you don't mind me asking...
Sick motorcycle man, nice video drive safe
Power and looks, that is why I am looking at the 2018 fat bob

I just got my first harley, 2014 883 iron. I wanted the lowrider s but I'm only 20 and have been living on my own since I was 17. as much as I wanted it i didn't need an $18k bike. the 883 was a small downgrade from my 1100 but the fact that its fuel injected and has the keyless ignition and security system plus other bells and whistles made me fall in love with it.... some day ill have the lowrider though
That I-4 Ultimate project is NEVER going to end ! And you know that as soon as they are done, it'll be obsolete.
Awesome that you stuck to your guns and didn’t compromise about what you going to pay since they’ll always highball it and try to get more money
Great looking bike.
I live right on Turkey lake road, cool seeing the local area, I ride a zx6r
Glad that you're enjoying the bike man. I'm getting into riding and made a poor decision buying my first bike. I love cruisers, but was on a budget, so I bought a cheap cruiser that I thought looked cool. Turns out it's reall uncomfortable for me and I'm not really motivated to learn on it. Looking to maybe trade it in and finance a Harley street500. There's a 650cc cap on learner bike riders here in NSW Australia :/
Yes Blockhead its A big difference. The power unbelievable..... its A beast 👍🏻👍🏻😀
LOL , most exellent vlog. the sound of the 110cc is amazing. safe travels to you p.s. how is Mrs. blockhead? and yes, your finances is you're own, not anyone elses. lol its like they thought it was them trading in the bike for another one . i can understand, most dont like change. anywho have a good one.
Man I couldn't quite make the lowrider s happen. Got a wide glide instead. Still super happy with it.

Amount you pay every month is irrelevant.. they may have just stretched out length of the loan and you will end up paying alot of interest to them. Credit score just means you love to borrow and repay $. But to each there own, if u are ok with the terms of loan then more power to you. Beautiful bike 👍

Now I'd like to have that bike . Or a sport glide I'm on the fence lol
I traded in 883 to get Road King Special. Very glad i did this, no regrets, no return.
Great bike! I have the same one. How is the bassani - FP3 combo running? Looking at the same combo for my bike
hell... that bking is so beautiful as well, your new bike looks like a blast to ride, i am currently going through the "modifying the iron883" phase, had a suzuki gsxs750 before this HD, ill put friscos handlebar in a couple days, after that im going for the wire tuck and coil/ignition relocation... next paycheck LOL... going through DK customs website I saw the LED ignition button, know anything about that thing? ive never had the luck to see one around here (chile) and im still not 100% convinced big hug! pd: harleys are so expensive down here that prob no one has that mod lol
I absolutely love the Dynas and if I were to ever change thats where I'd go, but I really love my Sportster ,it isn't the Iron model( nothing against the Irons, i just liked the regular 883 model better, mines a 2004) and started as a 883 and i added the 1200 kit to it after a couple years . Between that and some aftermarket pipes ,air cleaner and rear shocks it has power to " keep up " with the boys easily and the ride is good enough to allow me to ride from Panama City Beach ( Holla Fla boyz!!) twice now. I love looking at all the new Models but my sporty is not only my bike , it's my best damn friend as well and i don't see me ever gettin rid of it .,too many good rides and fond memories, plus I have after years gotten the look i wanted and the performance and ride to match.Thats the great thing about a Harley, it can really be a "lifetime" bike , and thats not something you can say about every machine. Ride safe out there !
I have a 883 iron I converted to a 1275cc, but that dyna looks like it moves pretty good.

Hey man I'm thinking of getting a harley I was looking at the iron 883 for my beginner bike
I am really changing my mind about harley's
I've never been on i-4 with a Harley...I hate that road in a car!! Deadliest highway in America. Oh, and coming off a 2016 XL1200CX Roadster, I must say I am in LOVE LOVE LOVE with my new 2017 FXDLS Low Rider S!
Gonna be honest, I work for a Dealer Management System. When you give them a number they have a tool that they can put what you're willing to pay into and it'll show them the options to get the payment at that price. That's probably why they gave you more on trade in, that and Harley has been trying to crank out more sales and has been backing dealers for more on trade in.
Glad you got a new monster to break in that you like. Definitely sad to see the sporty go after all the time you put into it, but it sounds like you got an amazing deal on everything so I certainly can't blame you for going this route on the upgrade. Hope you have a blast on the S, though I question how long it'll be before your wife gets mad at you for all the pants you're ruining.

Between the dyna and softail lowrider s, I’m really feeling the dyna. But the handling on the softail is second to none

When I was test riding at our local harley demo days, the salesman was really trying to get me to ride a dyna. I went there to ride the Street Glide, Road King, Soft Tail and Road Glide. I ran out of time and couldn't go back on Sunday, but I did ride the Road Glide, the Soft Tail Deluxe, and the Road King. I absolutely loved the Road King with the new suspension and the Milwaukee 8 motor. Still, it wasn't enough to pry me away from my Aero 1100. Plus, being a former harley rider, I remember all the reliability issues I had with them. Of course they were old school, and the new bikes are light years better. If I was to buy a new bike, it would be an Indian.
I'm considering a lowrider. But don't know if I can part with my deuce. I'm 6ft 2in and love my forward controls
NIce video I have FXDL S myself, as you said, I was attracted to it for the looks - style. but, you keep mentioning "power", this bike - stock - has only about 95 HP, I think, it's the torque! Stock is about 114 Lb/f... Keep it rubber down!
What's your Vlogging mic and camera setup? Sounds awesome.
Sweet bike! What do you use to edit your videos?
im on a street glide.. but cant get this bike outa my head.. its bad ass!
I currently own a 2016 Motto Gui V7II Stone. It is at the moment in the shop due to a woman hitting me in an intersection about a week ago. Anyway, I test rode a new Harley Low Rider about a month ago (going to be buying a second soon, plan on keeping the Goose). I also test rode a 2017 Triumph Bonneville T-120. The Low Rider was very comfortable but wierd (to me) the riding position (feet forward). The Triumph was amazingly smooth and also comfortable and the riding position more familiar to me. Also the Harley was quite noisy (to me at least) and vibrated noticeably compared to the Triumph. Also the weight of the Harely ... Of course the Triumph is no feather either (672lb Harely versus around 540lbs of the Triumph (my Goose weighs about 440lb wet). I love the looks of both the Harely and Triumph. But all in all the Harley seems primitive when compared to the Triumph overall. Difficult decision for me to make somewhat. Cannot afford both the Harely and the Triumph haha. I was palnning on a cross country trip on my Goose this summer, but hey, shit happens. So maybe next summer. Or maybe on the Triumph or Harley, depending on which one I buy. And in the end ... the Motorcycle one buys is equal to the money they have to spend, hahahahaha .. or something like that ;-)
I agree with you on financing, financing is completely fine when done right.
Which cam you use? Sound is great. Most have wind issue. Thnx
You have me thinking, I'm pondering my next build project and was thinking of an 883 with a 90" Hammer kit that would bring the motor up to 1475cc, but with a Dyna stock 110" I'm already @ 1800cc without any mods, plus a 6 gear transmission! Another consideration is that with an 883 registration & monthly insurance is really cheap when compared to an OEM Dyna 110. All worthy of contemplation, but you're in a unique situation having directly moved from your Iron to a much more performance chassis in the Dyna. What are your thoughts about handling and the weight comparisons? How much do you feel the weight of the Dygn vs the light and nibleness of the sportster frame?
Didn't know the 883 was paid off. If you didn't already have 2 other bikes I'd of said keep it. Good you were able to use it for a good down payment. DayMaker is the way to go for good light. Congrats. Ride safe

Love the New bike, but for me, my preference, Black Rims would be Boss and really make it pop... Are Black Rims Available on this model ??? Black rims are available, I saw a new low rider s with them at my local dealership in Augusta, GA. I'm not sure if it's an extra cost, though.
I have been really looking at the Soft tail lowrider and the Dyna lowrider. what are your opinions on the 2? From what i hear the Dyna edges the soft tail performance wise. But other then that both are comfortable to ride and have lots of power. I have been eyeballing the soft tail lowrider with that military green paint job with the star on the tank. (Born on Nov 11 so i have a huge respect and love for the military past and present) Just want your opinion of the 2 low riders.
Are these a good option for the short riders ? Like under 5’4
Hell yea great bike you need some diff handle bars tho. Also 6 speed yeeaaaa
I love the sweeper pipes. But I have to say the bassani 2 into 1 road rage has a deeper heavier tone to it.
It's your ride, and I'm glad your happy with it. I'm sure you have taken some heat for the switch. You've got to see it from our perspective. "Hey, a new video from blockhead, what's on this morning? Blockhead: I love the iron 883 and I'm going to ride it forever" Cool, me too, I have an 883, and I'm going to ride it forever to. "Hey, another video from Blockhead, he's got an 883 like me and loves it too, let's see what's up today. Blockhead: I sold the 883 and bought a lowrider" us: WHAT? It just takes a bit of catch up. Glad your happy. Suhdude.

Would you recommend something like this as a starter bike?
What fairing is this, I want one for my dyna street bob
will you ever put taller handle bars on the low rider s
Your videos are slowly convincing me to buy a Harley. I've always been more of a naked bike/sport bike guy. I really enjoyed watching your sportster videos and I'm sure I'm going to love the Dyna videos. I've been eyeing up a few used sportsters on the classifieds. I always liked Harleys. I even rode a Suzuki cruiser for a couple of months and I really enjoyed it, unfortunately that bike was written off... oops.

Bought a 2017 Forty Eight last month brand new. Ive had it for 4 weeks, and am going in tomorrow to my Harley Dealership to trade it in for a Lowrider S. Love the Forty eight, it just feels like its not enough bike for me. I feel stupid, but figured i would do it now while the bike only has 150 miles on it, and is pretty much brand new. Hoping they dont rape me on the trade in. Any suggestions as far as haggling? My goal is to get my $6,000 down back, and break even. Im going to put the $6K towards the Lowrider S , and add and put an additional $2K down. I know you arent disclosing what the specifics of your trade was, but if you have any suggestions lemme know! Love the vids, thanks man!
Hi,i have a question please. Can this bike be a beginner bike? Thanks for the answer ☺
.. Wakes up at 5am for whatever reason, watches video instead of going back to bed..
put 12 inch bars on mine, bike is night and day better than it was with stock bars, I would suggest looking into new bars if you are feeling any issues at all with riding position.
