I personally see your line of work as being best suited for an excavator but there are a lot of videos I’ve seen of your work where a skid steer would be way more efficient and a few where a combo of the 4 ton and a skid steer would be amazing. The skid steer has a lot of other attachments that could be very beneficial also.

Makes complete sense, skidsteers are great when you can use them. Keep up the great content!

How does the mulcher attachment handle smaller stuff like grass, weeds, and small brush? We do a lot of work around ponds and stormwater systems and it is more overgrown brush and not so much large woody vegetation. Trying to decide on a mulcher or a rotary cutter. Can you say from your experience with the mulcher? Thanks.

I honestly have to disagree I can go way more with my excavator than I can with a skid. I guess it depends

@@nickthrane4940 I made a really good niche down in Massachusetts with logging with many equipment and conservation areas that they would not allow big stuff. I first considered skid steers and then looked around and realized no one in the logging industry used that. So I did mulching with a mini excavator and then bought a feller buncher. I know you can do both with a skid steer but again Massachusetts is very similar to rain as this guy in between the rocks and the swampy ledge Terrain a skid steer just can't handle it. And excavator can reach up and around Stonewall. I got more work that the one guy in my area 11 ASV rc100 just couldn't do. I use a 50 horse John Deere farm tractor with a log grapple on the front that I realize and track skid steer has a much higher breakout Force. But I also run a three-point hitch logging winch with 165 ft of reach if it is very good terrain I have a 3-point hitch log grapple. Neither of which you can run efficiently with a skid steer. I also have a rotating fix grapple for the excavator that I use for moving and building stone walls and handling logs which it does infinitely better than a skid steer. Yes they are not as mobile as a skid steer but they make up for it in so many other ways. Unless I was doing grading work everyday it is just not worth it. For the little bit of traveling I need the farm tractor is plenty and it was a third of the cost. And there is so many attachments for the farm tractor that makes up for the lack of loader strength

If you used a skidsteer instead of the excavator you’d be chaining up to your 450 all the time yanking that skidsteer out of the mud
