I had a small team when l had pigeons and sent 2 yearlings hens to Lerwick 499 miles. 820ypm first time, on natural 1st club high up on NRCC result but got a great buzz same pigeon won club 26th NRCC Thurso 398 miles 890ypm the following year so you don’t have to send many to do well have ago pal l only had 10 pairs at the start of the season

Hmmm, winter .. feed the birds 2 x per day…. Winters is long, if after winter there birds are over weight…. Training start … training will sort out the over weight …. Your a new comer to the sport…. If the birds demand food after the racing season…. Feed them, there getting ready to breed….. good luck for the new season… love your channel…. Racing pigeons is magnificent 💥🎉👍🙏❤️😎

Hi Dan, I'm in tears laughing here at the reliant robin and you in it and the taughts of you training from it 😂😂😂😁😁😁🕊️🕊️🕊️, anyway if it doesn't hold many baskets you can buy roof rack stream line baskets, there made of sheet metal and have 2 and 4 doors on them, and hold about 40-60 birds I think, suppose depends on size and if u want to over load them and stress the birds, you will see them in Blackpool in 5 weeks time, I have no idea how much they are these days but they are great 4 training I have to say, so drive the work van to the show as I think you're going to need it 😉🙂🙂. The hen like so many of yours is not handling well at all, and this down to u not handling then at all bar marking day, as yearlings u will be able to handle them more but not to much as because they might stop sitting there eggs and baby's because there afraid of you, plenty of peanuts and peas in this weather and tease them to get them close to you and that you can rub them while they eat from you're hand, bit like you would a horse in a field. Are the cocks fighting with you if there is there box and you put you're hand in yet???. Fuck I'm going to the canaries when you be in Blackpool at the show, what I'd give to swap destinations even for a day or 2 , it's a great spot and an enermous show, you might have to give you're Mrs the bank card to go shopping while you spend the 2 days in the show 😂😂😉😉😬😬🙄🙄💓

Hi, I'm a pigeon fancier myself with a difference I keep mixed breeds from tipplers to rollers, racing pigeons etc. I keep them not for appearance or performance but for the love of pigeons. I have been keeping pigeons since the late 1970 and in most cases I can recognise a problem with pigeon health when I see it. I just want to ask you if you could tell me if there is a way or a source of getting some antibiotics other then visiting a vet. Reasons for my question are because there is no avian vet anywhere near me, my experiences with an ordinary vet were very negative, in one instance I paid over £70 for tests and medication for a single pigeon only to loose the pigeon and it was not an isolated case and last but not least I rescue injured and sick feral pigeons from time to time, thank you in advance. By the way you have a great channel

I just use Google and see what's available. As far as avian vets go, apparently there's a veterinarian in Thirsk that has a good reputation. A chap I know uses a poultry vet.

Hi mate not sure about new team bus😜 but I should hope the birds beat you home in it😂 good idea with map gives you a good perspective of distance have you thought about GPS rings for tracking there path home any any more thoughts on new loft👍

Yeah looks like I'm going to build the loft in January. Can't afford to splash out on a new one with the things I want from it. Same goes for GPS rings. Something I hope to get one day for sure. I'm always wondering which route they take to come home.

Nice team bus. On a more serious note...Are you going to fly widowhood or natural for the yearlings? If widowhood, how do the good hens get a proper go? I think you are going to be very busy because the pigeon workload will more than double in 2023. Breeding, training and racing old birds and then moving on to the young birds.I know you are getting some more lovelies from Charlie and Dave (did they race widowhood? - anyway they have stock birds as well). Must be worth a talk to them to listen to the pros and cons and then decide what system to fly the yearlings on. Have a safe and happy Christmas and New Year.

Good points. My best YBs are hens but I have a couple of hens that aren't going to fly. I might bring in a couple more hens for the cocks too, but not many. I'm conscious of the increased workload so planning to keep it small and simple where possible 👍

I don't but I'd recommend you get some young birds in for your first year before getting stock. Lots of young birds around atm

Why did you not consider a 6×4 or 8×4 trailer box it in or just strap them down if you have some mediocre why not Let them all breed if you can get the rings, for what it's going to cost food and time you might be surprised if you loose them nothing lost it's hard You just don't know what's going to turn out WELL

If darlo 94 is your best bird why would you chance racing her knowing something could happen to her when we was kids 60 /70s with out the internet we got long distance lorry drivers to take are joung birds with old ones to give them a good chance Give drivers bottle of spirits use Strong cardboard box they would Wright down the Time they let them out can be so much easier today give them 2 bottles think of money 💰 and time you could save think about it. Get down to your local main distribution centre hope this helps you 👍 good look try breeding for a good before you race .
