I saw a Softail Slim for the first time in real life today. I love it ... the overall design makes it look small & compact (amazing what wheel size does). I really want one. One day maybe.

Crazy that folks would leave you over a change up like this. I could understand losing subs if you had made a more drastic change like suddenly deciding on a hayabusa. Someday I'll upgrade, your point about RPM's on the highway is why I may move up one day though I may try to swap the front sprocket until then.

That’s a cool bike and if you like it you definitely did the right choice, The first time I try the fat boy I was sceptic about the wide tire and it was a bit hard to keep it in to the turns, but I went back to the dealership and took out ones more and it wasn’t so bad,I ended up buying it and I tell you I love this bike the more I ride it the better I like it, we all deferent and the beautiful thing is that there is so many choices, enjoy your bike it’s awesome and safe riding for all of us

I rode every softail expept tge slim at a demo day a while back! Nothing against it I like the slim I just ran out of time? But I totally agree the street bob with the 107 is one of the most fun bikes I've rode in years! I really like it but not enough to give up my street glide but maybe as a second bike someday! I look foward to your future videos on it!

Im glad you like M8 aesthetic. It's such a beautiful looking engine. And the knuckle head reference. I actually was surprised no one but me thought of that. The rockerbox covers do look like a pair of fists from the top down. It looks mean and aggressive and elegant at the same time. If anything that's what I would call a Knucklehead. But as things are, name was already taken. So M8 is fine. It's a beautiful engine. Personally I'm sold on the Fat Boy. I hope I can get mine soon.

Just bought one last Sunday, very happy with it so far. I started with a 1200 Sportster, then went with a 1340 SoftailHeritage, now the slim

  • @wooddawg4868
    @wooddawg48686 жыл бұрын

Harley-Davidson did a lot of work with the M8 engine. Crowing about a 4valve per cylinder engine was way overdue because everyone was already doing it. The twin cam should have been dead 10 years ago, so it’s amazing how they went with a more maintenance free motorcycle motor.

I just stumbled across your video. I ride a '13 Softail Slim which I bought new in late '13; just tuned 51,000 miles last week; I LOVE THIS BIKE!!! it has taken me to South Dakota and Wyoming three times (from North Central Illinois); up and across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan; down to Texas for the Bring It Home Ride, and on MANY other long rides (plus back and forth to work a whole bunch). With a sissy bar and a sissy bar bag (plus a swing arm bag) this bike is a touring bike if you want it to be (after all it has the same engine). People are amazed at how far I ride this bike, but they have never ridden a Slim, so they have no idea just how comfortable it is. Hope you are enjoying yours as much as I am mine. It's a great bike!

Look forward to the new journey, been there many times myself on topping out on mods. The Street Bob is another favorite of mine. I've had two Vrods which I loved and that engine is fantastic did 100,000 mi between the two. Have had ultras and S Glide as well as Sporties, I think your choice is great and that Mil 8 engine visually reminds me of the knuckleheads as well. As for vibration I really like that feeling, it feels like the heart is beating and feels alive. Take care....Ride hard or stay home😎

I got a 2013 Slim for the same reason, the simplicity, it is a basic big twin Harley, classic design. I have been looking at trading in, rode a Road Glide Ultra special, but I have a feeling i'm going get the another Slim, even tho it's more cumbersome to pack luggage for touring.

It seems we just don't like change when it comes to Harley's but I must admit....the bike is easy to ride and it looks GREAT! I will still miss the Dyna however. I wish they would have re-worked that one too and kept it around.

Been riding a 2018 Sportster 48 Special for 7 months and put about 8,000 miles on it. Rode to the Sturgis rally in South Dakota from my home state of Utah. 650 plus miles one way. Love the sporty but it beats me up after a long ride. So this Slim is something I'll hopefully be able to trade for come june 2019. That Sturgis trip really made me want a sixth gear, a bigger engine, and cruise control. Lets hope i can catch y'all on the road next year with a new Slim! Cheers and ride on!

Although I am researching the 2019 model, your video was VERY helpful in solidifying my decision to get this bike. Like you, it was my last choice, initially. I thought I was going to wind up buying a Triumph, because Harley's 2019 models are too expensive, or have those damned 3.6 gallon gas tanks. There weren't a lot of choices when it came down to affordable models with a 5 gallon tank. Luckily for me, the Slim is not just settling. Thank you. Stay safe.

Of course, I had a 2006 Electra Glide Standard before the Slim so I was spoiled. That bike I could ride all day with no issues. Personal Best was 700 miles in one day. To each his own, I guess. Two different styles Deluxe and Slim but thats the two I really Like. I did the Heritage classic I was feeling like in an armchair. The Street Bob as well very powerful but as you say another Sporster on a Softail frame. I'm same position I had a black denim Iron just sold it. Great motorcycle I had for three years loved it all way. QUestion are you tall ? I'm 5.9/6 and not sure this bike is too low for my size. Haven't tried the slim yet. I too am looking to purchase one of the new Softails eventually. I wont be trading in the Sportster though. Thats a keeper. Looking forward to your experiences with your great looking new Softail Slim. I like the look of the Street Bob but the tank is just too small. Did you get a chance to test ride the Sport Glide? Great vid as usual :)

I'm not going anywhere. I get it. I don't have the "stepping stone " mentality when it comes to my bike though. I do think the slim and deluxe are the best of the 18s, and plan on test riding this weekend. However I pretty much just want to see what the fuss is about. No plans to change.

Can you swap out the foot boards with regular pegs? I'm looking at getting a Harley, but two things I did not like about the softail slim are the skinny front tire and the footboards. Any idea if you can put a wider front tire on the slim? Gathering I'd have to swap out the front forks too, but I'm willing to do that if I can get a wider front tire. I'm torn, as I kinda like the look of the fat bob, but agree it does not really fit in with the classic Harley appearance. Love the larger tank on the Slim, so hoping I can swap out the front tire with a wider one, as well as replace the footboard with regular pegs.

I think you kinda stuck with the foot boards wasn’t a fan at first but love them now so comfortable. As far as a bigger front tire not sure but it would affect the handling. The slim is a great handling bike as is.

Nice choice. I personally would have chosen the Low Rider S, but every bike feels different to each rider. That is why there are so many choices. The Street Bob is the perfect starting point for a custom bike. The Fat Boy does take getting used to in the corner but it will lean over and all the meat in the rear helps the bike feel more stable.

So I'm wondering if you have ridden the Indian Scout? If you have, please give a comparison. I'm considering moving to the new Softail slim from my Scout. Love my Scout, but I'm thinking the Slim is a better all-arounder. Especially on the highway with the bigger tank, and I'm guessing more planted feel. Scout is fine on the highway except for the suspension really. And I'd love another gallon and a half of gas to try and tour with.

  • @TonysGarage

The Slim is absolutely at home on the highway. At 80 she isn’t even trying and super smooth and planted. It has been a great all around bike for me. Really don’t have anything bad to say. The scout is more inline with the Harley sporty. If you haven’t I would suggest giving one a test ride! Thanks for watching👊👊

The iron was alittle quicker out of the hole due to its gearing. Street bob with its sixth gear was much better on the highway. It’s kinda a trade off depending how n what kind of riding you do.

Hi! Nice channel. I´m a new subscriber you gained BECAUSE of the Softail move. I really like the new ones, previous softails where not that great. I had a 2000 Springer. enjoyed it but it had a lot of shortcomings. Anyhow, hope you don´t mind some questions, I´m hoping to decide between the Slim and the Street Bob. Do you recall if you feel more In the bike on this one or the SB, rather than On the bike. If you had to choose again, taking into account that in another more recent video you mention you miss the Sportsters *Spirit* would it be hard to choose? I´m really puzzled with this choice. Any help welcome!
