I currently just bought one for the reason of having kids ! I find it a lot easier to set an easy pace and keep with it than going outside and pushing to hard on an easy run. Plus Canada its been -30 C with windchill for the last week.

I got a treadmill last year (Pacerunner) and I would not recommend to buy it to anyone, unless you're a pro runner and you have your own house where to put it . It was huge, difficult to assamble, it was extremely boring and unconfortable to use it. I am glad it broke in a couple of month and I could return it to the seller :D Such a relief!

Nice video and I believe good investment. I run on treadmill almost every day (almost) . Mine got more than 10 years. My pros: It is the time saver, but also it is safer to run inside instead of going out early in the dark morning or late in the dark evening. Not only the cold can be annoying and making it hard to get out, but also wind. I live in the area where most days are very very windy (that is why we have got here more wind mills than people 😂). There are also some savings behind that, e.g. shoes are worn out much slower, you can run in cotton shirts, in whatever kind of sweatpants or shorts, no hat or gloves are needed.

Thanks for the great videos and congrats on the babies, Göran! In my limited experience treadmills are a lot easier to run on than outdoors. The fact that the road moves under your feet and you don't need to push conserves a lot of energy. I first started out running on a treadmill at the gym four years ago and I thought I was making some good progress when I could run "12k" in one hour on the treadmill. Then I went out to the track and could hardly run a lap before my legs started hurting like hell. I needed to learn to run properly first... Started out with 2k and progressed from there to half marathons. It took almost two years to get to a 1-hour 10k outdoors. Ok, I am 55. But I never stood on a treadmill since. Granted, we hardly have any snow in Budapest. Zs

I just bought a treadmill as well, and agree with many of the points you made. Never used a treadmill before this, and find that it is a great tool to work on pace, interval training, HRT, etc., and get that consistent feedback. I'm also incorporating walking backwards on an incline to see if that has any benefits (per Knees Over Toes Guy), which is easy peasy to do on a treadmill 😂. That being said, running outside is, and will always be the best! 😁 Thanks for another great video! Cheers! ✌❤

I was going to suggest turning it around as well... you could get seriously injured. Watch the part of the post where you're doing the challenge and note how close your feet come to the wall when you're fully striding out. Yikes! Oh... and I'm a treadmill fan myself... love my incline trainer!

Nice one Göran, I live in Finland and am presented with the same challenges as you (minus the babies). For quality sessions in the winter time, especially for speed work and road running, a treadmill is great. I'm lucky that at work we have a gym with some treadmills. But I'm sure down the line I'll end up with one. 70 seconds on them settings is a nice effort 💪

That looked so hard, I don’t think I’d last 10 seconds at max 🙈 great points about the treadmill, mine is definitely the best purchase I’ve ever made, there’s no way I’d have kept my run streak without it. I live in northern Alberta and between the severe cold, ice and lack of daylight it’s worth every penny for the safety and convenience factors alone. Zwift combined with a good podcast or show definitely helps with the boredom

Great video Goran You make good points And the videography is pretty nice 👌 One thing I noticed - It may be a bit hazardous to have your high performance treadmill just centimeters from a wall. Maybe you should think about rotating it so it has room behind it in case you...well, you know... Maybe I'm wrong but just wanted to point that out.🙂

I had knee surgery in November and after a lot of pool running, speaking of boring, I've been using treadmill to run again. I find if I change the pace a little each kilometer like 750 meters easy and 250 meters a little faster makes the time go by faster. And definitely less boring than pool running. I find threshold sessions on treadmill help as long as I keep incline at 1.5%.

I think treadmill running is the same way "boring" as outdoor running. You just have to switch off your mind and stop thinking about for how long you are training and how much is still left. I had an opportunity to use the treadmills with pre-recorded video so it helped to cheat my mind very well. However when the video's pace didn't fit the treadmill's pace I started to feel dizzy. But the thing that I don't really like about the treadmill is a lack of flowing air. Great video as usual!

Congratulations to your happy and healthy twins. I agree with you that a treadmill is boring. Nothing can beat the feeling of running outside on a trail, path, or sidewalk.

I have a treadmill but only use it if conditions outside are dangerous outside. It’s just so boring and personally I find it harder than outside

Never liked treadmills and will never use one running in the cold and snow is fun, I just wish we got more of it I really miss cross country skiing which was a great way to get in intense workouts in the snow and cold.

i dont have the space or money for a treadmill. but i do like doing a treadmill training session at the gym near me. it allows me to run for longer or run more consistent speed interval. but i dont think a normal person like me needs one in their house

I'm sure I saw at least 12 percent incline there in the panel. Mine has 15% max but only 20km/h.

I’m currently Injured, one minute running a 17.45 5K, to having a bit of lower back pain and what I thought was a tight right glute. Went out for a run before Xmas and about 7 miles into the run, felt a really sharp pain in my right glute. A couple of physio’s thought it was Piriformis Syndrome/Sciatica. I wasn’t getting any better by stretching/strengthening, so paid privately for an MRI scan. The results weren’t good, I’ve fractured my sacrum, so I’m out for between 8/12 weeks. I can cycle without pain, so at least I’ve got something to focus on. Also waiting for a Dexa scan which measures bone density. Nightmare, but I’ll get there 👍

Great video and agree treadmill running can be boring UNLESS you have one of the online interactive ones like Peloton - I'm just about to re-purchase. The one thing that concerns me about the placement of your treadmill (and of course it's none of my business!) is the fact that you have absolutely no run-off at the back and imagine if you fell - you'd be face-planted onto the fast moving belt with heaven knows what awful things happening to you - just saying from a concerned stand-point, not wishing to be rude.

For sure it is not a good idea put treadmeal on such position when wall just behind you. As a worker on the ferry I running two month on the treadmeal and month outside, when home. It is really borring, even when tv screen of the treadmeal showing some videos. But it is a great tool to improve training: set a goal what ever you like.

I don't like treadmills at all.. always get a bit nauseous when running on them (and later when stepping off). Here is a tip though since your treadmill get be set on an incline. Walk backwards on max incline. It will strengthen your knees and improve your running stability immensely.

I live in an old appartment and it would be impossible to have a contration like that. Much to noisy ! I'm lucky I have access to a training facility with a threadmill, but its SO BORING running in a basement room with nothing to look at besides a white wall. And it only goes up to 18 km/h...

I feel squishy track running is worse for our knees for distance running. I enjoy treadmill running because it doesn't hurt my knees. And I can leave my phone posted up and watch a movie.
