Why I Bought a Ryker 900 ACE

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video I explain how at age 69 I decided to buy a 2019 Ryker 900 ACE. Also, after one year of ownership I do a walkaround of my Ryker and share my thoughts of the bike.

I want to thank you for putting out a fine video. I'm 62 and looking at retirement. Your video was very useful in helping me decide that this is something that I want to do at this time in my life. You have a great voice that is easy to listen to, and your video has a great flow to it. No brash music or other BS, and your suggestions make a lot of sense. Can-Am would do very well to do everything you suggest with their new models. I had a Honda 350 when I was in my twenties, but I was just never comfortable riding on the street. I couldn't stop my mind form always thinking that somewhere along the line, someone was going to do something because they weren't paying attention that was going to end up causing me a lot of pain, so I ended up selling it, and never bought another one, although I always thought about it. I also had a Honda Trail 70 when I was growing up, and I had the good fortune of living on a dead end street that never saw a police officer that I can remember. We also had plenty of trails to ride on as well. So when you talk about the classic styling of the 2 wheeler you bought, I wholeheartedly agreed. Honestly I believe that I could still handle 2 wheels, and it's great that you at least were able to give it a shot. What is even greater in my opinion was that you and your son were able to enjoy the sport together at least for a while. But my wife and son will be passengers, and they much prefer 3 wheels, and it makes me feel better that even the most careless drivers out there will have a better chance at seeing us, so I'm hoping that it will make me more comfortable on the street as well. I wish you all the best in your future adventures, and thanks again for the video. Well done!

Thank you for sharing this video and your story with us. You have definitely made a great choice in getting the Ryker. I have had my 2019 900 ace since the 6th of June 2019 and, like you, I feel that it’s extended my years of riding. Yup, the Ryker has a few things that let it down slightly, but the quirks give it character for me. My favourite mod is the Black Diamond running boards that I got from Lamonster Garage. I agree that it’s been challenging for the last year or so, not having anywhere to ride to, but hopefully things will begin to improve over the next few months. Anyway, I love the look you’ve created for your Ryker and I hope that she gives you many, many great rides. Ride Safe Brother 🙏🏻😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I also got a set of Baja Ron end links from Lamonster and I will be putting those on in the next week. I'm a big fan of your channel and always look forward to your next video.

Thank you for sharing this. I only came across this video recently while browsing videos of these 3 wheeled wondermachines as it is currently winter in Canada (but you knew this) and I really loved your story and it reminded me of my own. I always wanted a motorcycle in my teenage rebellious years but of course no money to get one. Then I got into my twenties and life got in the way for the next decade. Finally last year, I looked at my finances and said "Ya know what, I can do this now." But as I got to looking at 2 wheeled bikes, and videos of people explaining how to ride them, I worried I wouldn't have the balance for it. Then I found these Can-ams and said...ya know. Those look amazing and I'd like one. Then COVID happened so getting the motorcycle license got hampered but then at last, I bought a 2019 Spyder (slightly used but I had the money and didn't even have to finance it) and let me say, that I share a lot of what you said, it has been the most wonderful experience on the open road I have ever had. Never stop riding!

Funny how many of our families have these "reservations" about our desire to ride....Justified or not these desires just cant be ignored and when people like ourselves try to ignore them it creates a big hole in our lives and dare i say a bit of undue resentment... When a guy or gal wants to ride - get out of the way and let it happen. Said person will have a more fulfilled sense of being and everyone involved will benefit from the happiness. Your smile just gets bigger when your doing what you enjoy. Ignore it and the mysery can be felt by all. Glad your family is supportive and your doing what you love on a great looking bike. See you out there...

Great Video. I myself am 72 and rode Honda Goldwing all through my youth. I took the 3 wheel Can Am Riding course and am looking for a Ryker now. In my class I rode the 600. Plenty of power for me. The main thing is I miss riding and I plan on getting back to it. No better feeling. I don't need all the bells and whistles, just the ride. I do think the skid plate and radiator protecter is a no brainer. Thanks again.

Subbed, enjoy your Ryker. I just got a 2021 F-3S, found it used with only 705 miles on it. The original owner traded it for a Limited model, he wanted it for road trips and the bags and rear trunk fit his needs. I think he bought the F-3S to see if he would like it. I guess he did, lucky me. The F-3S only had 705 miles on it and was in brand new condition. So I snapped it up. It’s getting really cold here in the far west burbs of Chicago so I won’t get much of a chance to ride until spring. Guess I have to buy some accessories and a Heater for my garage. I’m sure I will enjoy tinkering with her this winter. Subbed, keep your head on a swivel. I have been on 2 wheel bikes for a long time. This will be fun, I have only got to ride mine a couple times in the last month, but I’m loving it so far.

You could increase visibility by adding reflective tape around the trim or contours of the trike. Perhaps adding some glow in the dark tape as well. RGB LED flexible light poles can be added for the greatest attention getter. These are common add-ons for people who ride electric bikes, trikes, quads. You might want programmable electric paint from Lumilor. Lumilor has a variety of colors to choose from. People make custom art with it, it can be sprayed on, the lighting sequences aren't limited to simple on/off zone switching. KZread has videos of someone showing you how to build a video panel out of lumilor paint letting you use it as a funky video display on curved surfaces. As it goes down like a paint you could animate the grill shields or have them treated to function as video grills.

Great video Rusty. I came across it while searching and trying to figure out which top case to get for my Ryker 900 ACE (2020) Yours is the first one I've ever come across with exactly what I'm looking for perched there on your max-mount-a SHAD top case. My question to you is since there are mounting brackets for specific machines but none specifically for the Ryker,, which motorcycle did you choose when you ordered your topcase so that you got something that you were able to fit to your Ryker. I'm real good with tools so I can make things fit. BTW my story is similar to yours. I just turned 76 this spring. I've ridden bikes starting in 1963 with my first, a BSA 650 and many others until I sold my final ride, a 1972 Honda 500-4 in in 1987 for you know, pressures...raising a young family etc.. At some point later on I didn't renew my motorcycle endorsement on my driver's licence and in 2019 I decided I wanted to get back on two wheels and found out I'd have to take the course/tests again because the grace period for the endorsement was 3 years which I was way beyond. What a bummer! I too started the course and found I was, let's say , uncomfortable on two wheels. Boy was my family ever relieved. So relieved in fact they contributed to the purchase of my Ryker confident that dad wasn't going to fall over and here we are. I've put a jockey shifter on mine with an 8-ball as a shifter knob, a better seat, a parking brake lock so now a topcase. Enjoy the ride!

Thanks for the reply. I purchased my SHAD SH33 from Amazon.ca in May 2020. It came with a "universal mounting plate". I was able to mount it directly to the Max Mount using the hardware that came with the case. After two years of use I haven't had any issues other than last summer I re-tightened the mounting bolts with a touch of lock tight. It has remained solid since then. I was lucky, my motorcycle endorsement never expired, I have had it since I was sixteen years old.

Hello and thanks! The outside wheel caps are from Amazon. They are the Prescottt Plastics 1 1/2" black plugs. The decals on the plugs were made by NC Kustoms, the same place that I got my grill guards. The cap hubs on the inside of the front wheels are a Can-Am parts that I ordered from my Can-Am dealer.

Great looking ride!! I am looking to install a tail luggage directly on my max mount with my backrest and that one is perfect! Did it come with an universal plate or did you just install it directly on the mount?

3Wheel Rusty…sorry to see you go! I too am 70 and I bought my first motorcycle, a Ryker Rally with yellow accents, in August 2021. I’ve enjoyed riding in the countryside of eastern Kansas. This summer has been hotter than normal and I look forward to the Fall to get in some good rides! Enjoy God’s creation in Alberta while taking some awesome photos!

I have seen KZread videos where people with leg paralysis have switched the foot brake to a hand brake and then had custom foot pegs and/or leg supports made to suit their individual circumstances. I'm sorry that I don't remember the names of the individuals that posted them. I think that the new for 2022 Can Am audio system will fit all models. It's pretty expensive though.

Do you believe a 600 will good enough for long rides?

  • @3wheelrusty258

    @3wheelrusty258

    Жыл бұрын

It depends what you mean by long. Personally, I wouldn't want to ride a Ryker cross country but for day trips the 600 can handle itself as well as the 900 as long as you don't plan on spending too much time at Interstate type highway speeds.

I'm 45 years old and can easily handle a big bike, but I feel like the ryker is safer. I'm sure it stops better than a 2 wheel bike and I'd wager it's a lot better in the rain if you get caught on wet roads.

  • @3wheelrusty258

I think that with three points of contact that the Ryker would stop faster than a two wheeler in most circumstances. Also, with the linked braking you just have to hit the brake pedal, no decision time wasted thinking which brakes to use. As far as wet roads, QuasiMotard has a great video of him driving his Ryker in a torrential rainfall and it handled pretty good considering the conditions.

It would be nice to have the transmission from the Spyders available. Being able to drop the RPMs at highway speeds would reduce the noise levels and I suspect would improve gas mileage.

Man, your story sounds just like mine. It's been about 15 years since I sold my Honda Goldwing, and I've been really wanting to get back on the road. I'm looking at the Can Am. Great review. I think Can Am needs to take your recommendations to heart. Great report. Thanks for posting. Be save and blessed.
