More interesting info - thanks. I used to play guitar but at 75 my hands have slowed, but I can manage the uke. I taught myself to read music when I played the guitar in my mis-spent youth and it has been very useful for transferring to the uke. The nice thing is I can pick up a lead sheet and play Mozart or Dylan (not for public performance I would stress but for my own pleasure) and I actually find music notation easier to read than tab. The real problem is that I have married myself to the lead-sheet and I find it difficult remembering melodies (age doesn't help). Would be useful if you could give us some pointers on how to learn a melody so you don't need to refer to the lead sheet. BTW, I agree with you on the song sheets, you can never quite see where the chord changes or estimate its value unless you really know the song.

Thanks for your comment, much appreciated. I'll jot that idea down in the ideas notepad and see if I can make it work into a video ;)

Thanks for doing this video Matthew, I never knew about lead sheets, they could be very handy! Do you know if there’s is a supplier of George Formby lead sheets?

Hello Anthony, thank you for your comment. Yeah lead sheets are great, especially they are perfect for playing in groups. You can probably find lead sheets by any artist on the internet, just by searching the artist's name, song name and then "Lead sheet" and you'll find some with varying degrees of accuracy and cost. Alternatively, I am happy to make some for you if you wish. Contact me via my website if you are interested: www.matthewquilliam.co.uk
