@@susanevans7804 Apparently that's not true. Will Packer, producer at the Oscar's, even asked him to stay. Packer also lied that Chris Rock said he didn't care whether Will stayed. Rock was in shock. Will Smith should've been removed regardless what Chris Rock said or did afterwards. I hope he has to return his Oscar. In my view that man is a danger to people around him. Rock didn't/couldn't retaliate, because 1. he's smaller 2. he thought Will was his friend 3. he's an older man 4. he was doing his job 5. he is less powerful than Smith... The people who hired him as a comedian should've protected him. They did not.

I never understood how Jada could defend that picture of her daughter. I would've been like "Yes, it was innappropriate for my under aged daughter to be in an adult male's room, lying on his bed while he was there shirtless. It doesn't matter that nothing sexual or romantic was happening. You just don't allow your under aged daughter to be in that scenario. I can almost hear my own father when I was that age telling me "you never ever go into a man's room".

2016 was the year the Smiths asked Chris Rock to boycott the Oscars by turning down the biggest hosting gig of his life to support their claim of lack of diversity bc Will was not nominated for ("Concussion") a movie that did not turn a profit. Chris did not placate Jada and will and hosted the Oscars despite Jada insistence, to his credit. Fast forward 2022 when the Oscar production is all about diversity and Will Smith is nominated and he slaps the host, Chris Rock for slighting Jada with a joke.

They family has a problem with boundaries. The most unfortunate aspect of this is that they were unable to mirror or teach the meaning of proper boundary behavior and understanding to their children. I feel bad for their children in this respect. Further, I think this failing came about during their foray into a certain group, where the thinking is put forth that children are merely mini-adults. An example is having the young daughter present on Jada’s Red Table Show, where she discusses all manner of personal, private matters which should be held private from her child. Especially egregious was Jada’s discussion of her “entanglement”, during a Red Table segment, with her mother and young daughter present.

The audience giving him a standing ovation when he received his Oscar, after the assault on Chris Rock,shows what Hollywood is about. No decency or morals

This is so bad for Will Smith personally (first), the black community (second), and the movie industry (third). I think the audacity, cockiness, and inability to control himself, herself (Jada laughing afterwards) and their family ("this is how we do it" was tweeted by their son 1-2 days ago) are akin to a pubescent teenagers’ behaviors. But 1/3 of you think what he did was understandable, righteous, or maybe even cool. Really? How bizarre. @ PONTIFICATION 1: Who in their right mind slaps someone in front of millions of people? Not even most MMA fighters when exchanging insults during the pre-fight weigh-ins. Rarely happens. PONTIFICATION 2: Who in their right mind brings religion into this and says [paraphrased] "God needs me to protect, defend, and love people" OR that the "Devil will come for you when you are on top"? What a cop-out and deflection: 'The devil made me do it'. Sheesh. PONTIFICATION 3: Why was Pinkett-Smith's reaction so underwhelming to the point she was laughing afterwards? She could have easily defused the situation simply by standing up and saying "hey hey, guys, I know you are fighting over me, but I love you both". Furthermore, Denzel Washington's apparent support(?) at the Oscar's was at best misinterpreted by Will Smith: ANY good friend of his would/should have pulled him aside properly, prepared a better speech for him, and told him to offer the darn award for best acting to Chris Rock! That would have been humor right there. PONTIFICATION 4: Who is giving this family advice OR are there just a bunch of "yes-men" around ‘successful people’ these days?

I cannot look at Will and Jada without cringing. They are the most pathetic couple in Hollywood ! I hope they isolate themselves for good after that epic slap!

Honestly I had nothing but love for them until they decided to open there mouths about racism being why he wasn't nominated not his crappy accent that he couldn't keep the whole movie. He is a good actor but not as great as they seem to think he is. Forrest Whittaker now THAT was a Oscar performance and his accent wasn't the atrocious thing Will Smith gave us. Plenty of wonderful African American actor's and actresses have won the Academy Award like Jamie Foxx, Denzel Washington, and Viola Davis sorry he isn't one.

I remember that 2016 Oscar boycott prompted by only Jada for lack of diversity. Now I could understand Spike joining in a resistance because some of his films and his role as director has been consistently overlooked by the Academy for Best Picture or Director. But I did not agree with Jada at the time and thought Jamie Foxx's take on it was correct.

Chris was right in taking the high ground. Suing Will would be beneath his dignity. He's right to not give the issue that much air. That would just keep Will in the press and headlines. Why give him that? Chris doesn't need to sue him. Will Smith is toast. And Chris' career got a serious bump from it. Mission accomplished.

@Jen - the NECK didn't even say any of things. He did not say they didn't have a right to voice an opinion. He simply said if you're going to speak out, then other people are going to respond. If they want to step into the political arena then they should be prepared for backlash, since not everyone is going to agree with them. First Amendment goes both ways. It's easy to not care what the public thinks once you're already a rich millionaire, insulated from the world by your money. If he was a struggling actor I bet he'd care. And if they _really_ did not give a shit what the public thinks, they wouldn't be doing dumb shit like boycotting the Academy Awards. Seems to me like they _do care_ after all.

I would bet a dollar Smiths next film , I am Legend 2 won't be released or made due to problems with script and budget . He's finished .
