"good" but still annoying AF having a check-list to do for the Sentinel of Radiance so my original annoyed opinion still stands. Edit: After patch notes & before launch they significantly buffed the HP of the Sentinel of Radiance, we also had 0 information on its scaling below level 85 now resulting in the node providing a direct 20% DR that becomes a mandatory 20sec check-list mark you have to re-summon consistently. On top of that it's beyond overpowered in the early levels which demands balance changes. Despite the insane buffs the powers of higher level auras from the Elemental Relics has so far only provided us with 2 builds turning Guardians instead of Necromancer. 2 builds. Everything else I've gone over (so far) has just been pure disappointment as we are after years still stuck with very little diversity. I'm hoping to be proven wrong by seeing more and more builds opting for the Guardian ascendancy that I have yet to get to and PoB such as Soulwrest, Golems & deep-diving AW. Now, some people want me to say that I was wrong and that the ascendancy is in-fact really good. I think this is entirely caused by the overpowered insane buffs to the Sentinel after patch notes, undocumented. And without that buff I doubt people would be saying the changes are anything but "ok". Maybe I do need to say that I was wrong, maybe not? I don't feel like I've been wrong on the topic hence this little write-up.

but your original opinion was that the new guardian ascendancy is simply too weak, too underpowered - not that recasting the sentinel is kinda tedious. wouldn't hurt you to just admit you were wrong, and that it actually has its place - even though it might not be as generally useful and versatile as the necro - rather than insisting that you were right all along because you found something that annoys you. to be clear, your original scepticism was perfectly reasonable imo, guardian rework DID look weak and underwhelming on paper, we didn't know the aura levels (or the last second buff to sentinel), so it was a valid concern - it just happened to be wrong - and it's no shame outright admitting that instead of trying to hype a new build while also having to be negative about something just because you were very negative about it initially...

@@porfirij Quick edit: Just want to add to the write-up below that I really hoped Guardian would take the minion archetype by storm and finally create better diversity which has sadly resulted in 2 builds (so far) switching ascendancy. It was also based on 2 things: 1) They giga buffed the Sentinel of Radiance just before launch (triple the HP & moved the taunt requirement to hit 20% DR) 2) We assumed lvl 20 auras which are closer to 27-28, even higher for Hatred. Despite these insane buffs to it, I still find the Sentinel extremely tedious to run as a check-list mark that you have to re-summon every 20sec. I don't mind admitting that I'm wrong but I feel that on the Guardian topic I'm pretty much on point imo. I also stated that the only build I had PoBd that performed better on Guardian over Necro was Mage Skelly. Turns out SRS works "better", pSRS still outperforms it but it's such a small difference I'd arguably even say it's better on Guardian due to being cheaper. I still need to triple-check both Soulwrest & Golems to compare. Ultimately there are currently 2 whole builds better on the Guardian out of which I clearly stated 1 was the case in my previous video. The only thing from my perspective making people think I was completely wrong on the topic is that the Sentinel is so extremely overpowered with its buff in the early game which we had literally 0 info on as we only got to see level 85 scaled stats.

@@GhazzyTV i specifically mentioned both those points in my comment, and clearly stated that your concerns were justified given the lack of information - i just got the vibe from your comment (and also the vid) that you're trying too hard to still be negative about the ascendancy in order to convey you were never wrong in the first place - when you could just say "we didn't have all the information, and maybe i was a bit too negative in hindsight, but look at this fun new build that is actually great with guardian". i'm not on social media. maybe you got some pushback or mockery there for declaring guardian DOA. maybe people don't acknowledge that you made your predictions with incomplete data. i can just speculate why, but it is very obvious you're being defensive about it, and it kinda ruins the mood - at least for me. i say f*ck 'em, you're a good content creator, so don't dwell on the negative, embrace the positive. i for one enjoy my srs guardian, and had a great time in campaign and unlocking the atlas, and i am looking forward to your input concerning golem and spectre choice for example - or why i might be completely wrong in feeling summon phantasm is a great 6th link for srs, even though barely anyone uses it...

The pushback has been mostly about statements made prior to information not revealed yes. And you're also right, both Mage Skelly & Elemental SRS on the Guardian are both performing very well which myself & many others are happy about. Perhaps I can take this convo to heart and look at it from the bright side; Even if the diversity provided was limited, diversity was still provided. Which is what I personally wanted. Will be fun to see what we can come up with when it comes to both Soulwrest, AW & Golem build(s). Going to make time for that soon I hope!

I was blown away at how good guardian is now. the triple offense aura is nuts with zombies and skeletons. I am just running full zoo with stuff like grip of the council and raise max all minion levels. The biggest win is 6 link skeletons+summon phantasms support. COmbined with when minion dies gain 5% and minions gain 4% life (cluster). Because the skeletons summon the phantasms so fast your menagerie is immortal even juiced tier 16. The other standout is Gaudians blessing plus haste. I just slapped it on my carrion golem in boots with gives level 21 haste. Middle click start of map and we are off to the races. In poe the rule is specialization but the power level of these 3 auras really do allow quantity of hits to carry till endgame.

Yep. Skeleton archers, phantasm support, gmp, faster projectile, minion damage and the last one is whatever you want. Absolutely destroying content.

I haaaaaate stuff like this. It is the pendulum buff with a button requirement. I wish they weren't trying to push so hard for this, but the fire node they changed is the same thing, and you don't even get a visual indication of that.

I'm having a TON of of fun mapping with my guardian and my personal zoo. 6L dominating blow which easily allows me to get a couple kills using my arakaali's and get my chaos/poison spider ramp started. Also running zombies, carrion golem, animate guardian. Doing all sorts of damage, trying double curse with vulnerability and elemental weakness. Obviously lack of specialization will probably hurt on ubers but still super fun and I never run into anything I can't kill.

I did this and amazing, bad aspect popcorn srs ablut clearspeed just gone. But i think clearing speed later will be reduced alot in a redmap. I think i need to fix that with minion life clusters or tatoo.

You think it would be viable to just swap srs for arakaalis and keep most of everything else in the pob the same?

I always though Necro was overpowered with that +2 levels before they nerfed it, but honestly, they should have probably limited that to just undead and given the other minion summoning classes similar abilities limited to just their class. Having a Guardian that gets a +2 to Absolution, Dominating blow, heralds of purity and holy relic would have been superior and added at least some build diversity. A new skill bound to an ascendancy... dunno, personally I'm not a big fan of it. I'd rather we got a new skill gem and a +2 to "holy" minions. They could have given the sentimentalists a +3 to elemental golems and an increase golem number and find some other places for the other minion gems. Spread the minion love around and make sure that if you want to play Animate Guardian you have to go with a class that's not Guardiand or Necro. But that's just me.

Grab the minion AOE and stack life with minion instability. That guardian minion get's absurd DPS boosts. Get a replica Seigebreaker and holy crap. 20% of minion life as burning ground damage. The sentinel of radiance is basically an RF minion and if it happens to die, bam 20% of total life as burning ground. Grab a Pale Sera and a Tukie Vangard and stuff dies pretty quick and the build is surprisingly tanky as that SoR takes 20% of damage. You take 1000 fire damage with 75% res, you have 250 damage left and the SoR takes 50 off that down to 200 damage. You won't blap anything as a guardian but for Heists, Blight, Abyss, and Breach, that SoR's burning radius is about 3/4 of the screen.

Running animate guardian /animate wep(withered/poison) is nutty

Thoughts on Guardian Animated Weapon? Or would going poison being the simply better option?

I recommend level with srs AND whatever other minions you like. They simply outperform all other minions for the same budget. The srs are farming 2-4 screen away while you are running towards the end of map. It is a fantastic minion and great at bossing. Absolution does it well to. Srs elemental is insane for leaguestart. It blows clearing the atlas out of the water for like 5 chaos.

I think in early game leveling with absolution is better, Sentinel of Radiance and absolution literally wipe all bosses and monsters less than one sec

Been doing “triple RF” build were i use inf legion the new guardian minion and RF myself and it fits reallys well with most the asc nodes and scaling dmg isnt bad no need to find +gem levels for later gear only real problem is getting ur hands on formless inferno

they can lower the RF damage and taunt chance a bit, and just make it a permanent minion with faster move speed. you can have 100% uptime on it, but it's annoying especially if you play temp minions.

@@Legionthecomrade There's very few if any ascendancy nodes that can single-handedly carry you through the whole story without you even having to use any other skill. This is textbook overpowered.

I am playing guardian rn, my idea is to have formless inferno, and mothers embrace and scale minion life through the ceiling with fire res I also use righteous fire on my guardian. Currently with radiance sentinel i am able to do tier 16s albeit notn the fastest ever, but i dont have formless inferno yet or grasping mail that would increase the armor for my guy

That's the only thing I really don't like about the new minion, it's constant resummoning, it would have been very good being a minion that's permanent and just followed the golemancer node where it respawns after dying... and I say alberon's should have that for skeletons and wraitlord for spectres, would make them so much more useful.

Why you didn’t mention dominating blow and absolution, aren’t they are best minion build on this ascendency ?

would love to try out guardian if they make the guardian some kind of auto summon. minion builds already have so many buttons to press, having to press another one doesn't sound fun.

In relation to the checkmark ability, I don't see it being any different to using Bone Offering as a Necromancer after you take Mistress of Sacrifice, you have it as a core part of the Necromancer's survivability and you cast it so often you automate the process by putting it on a trigger wand. It is basically in every one of your necro builds. I don't see a big difference to keeping the Sentinel summoned all the time, it has a much longer duration so it isn't annoying enough that you need to automate it. The convocating is annoying, but it has been a common part of a lot of permanent minion builds, moving and convocating has been a core part of the minion gameplay for a long time. Whilst I think Unwavering Crusade is not as good as poison stacking, I think it is inevitable that poison gets nerfed in the future... most would say it is long overdue as poison anything is usually better.

Console starts today, would you say skelly guardian was a good starter?

Guardian seems to excel on ele damage based minion builds. Just think dominating blow cold conversion 😅

I say its even stronger as it was in sentinel league. You have to invest in 5-7 good jewels (1 div each at least) and need a 95% darnkess enthroned and then everything just melts... and the 6l fleshcrafter ofc

My aurabot friend is using it so he doesnt have to have any help during mapping. He started pogging out the moment I told him about the buff it got. His #1 complaint is that this turd needs constantly re-used. I don't really understand why this minion can't be permanent. The buff he got is cool. Post buff it is a very very cool node.

Might be a dumb question, but if I scale minion life and go for "Spiritual Aid", would the damage gained from the sentinel also be scaling off it's life? "Necromatic Aegis" might be a way to buff it more as well.

Spiritual Aid doesn't change anything, it is already a minion.

So more power in the early game but less power later on. More league starter friendly but much more of a hassle to make lategame viable minion builds? I mean I guess I can get behind that, personally I would just prefer if we could link the relic and the guardian to a trigger gem so we don't have to manually cast them because that's the most annoying part of the build. But besides that it seems like the damage is quite high and the, clear speed is pretty fast. Its probably gonna get nerfed at the end of the league but I hope it comes with some compensation to make it and the guardian feel less cookie cutter.

Doing guardian skelly mages and i think they are stronger than they were in sentinel. I have 5-6 gg jewels equipped tho, flat damage, (T2) cast speed 6 and 15-20% more damage . Those are doing the trick the most. Darkness enthroned dint have 100% inc. in sentinel either. I am just happy i can blast Minions again. Best leaguestart ever (linked a perfect fleshcrafter in 97 fusings and since then i am rolling...)

The sentinel should just be up permanently until it dies. I don't really see a point in having a timer, except to give me more carpal tunnel. If you wanted to turn it off for some reason they could just make it a toggle. Also it does need early game nerfs, and late game buffs. To be fair I haven't tried scaling him super hard, but building around him seems.... asinine. I think the main problem with Guardian minion builds is that you only have 2 ascendancy notables that matter. The extra block is ok, but everything else sucks ass. Like literal meme tier. I'm totally on board with your opinion about Guardian. It needs some more help.

the answer is essences. If you really struggle with money spec completely into essences, buy remnants of corrutpions, run maps where you can finish the essence mobs quickly, do 3 essences per map, leave, do 3 essences per map, leave quick fast money and alot@@DoPtRiGGa

My vote - gut sentinel of radiance (maybe even going as far as to remove some core mechanics), turn him into a skill gem, then give guardian ascendency nodes to add unique mechanics/power to the minion.

The guardian has more damage than necro for mage skellies, but, I am not sure how it would feel with the attack speed you lose. I suspect that clear would suffer while bossing improves, of which, the latter it doesn't really need.

Time of Need heals you to FULL HP every 4 s, how is 250 armour better than that?

For a couple reasons, one being 4 seconds is kind of a long time in PoE when you consider the situations that you actually die in, it's usually one or two hits and you're dead instantly so unless it goes off in the perfect window it will do nothing. Second its 25% armor and 10% energy shield for you AND your minions, so it synergizes much better as a minion build by buffing your minions. Time of need is still strong but yea, doesn't do anything for your minions which makes it not really make sense

it's 25% of your reserved mana, so it's not a lot, it's decent for minions but you undersetimate how much having that burst of health every 4 seconds can save you in rought situations, it by no means makes you immortal but to me is much more useful than the baseline values of the other passive. If I were to get higher levels of mana, say 2k or higher I would consider it, but without investment into it I will always consider Time of need the superior choice. @@DoPtRiGGa
