Hey dude I remember working with you! I totally agree with everything you said. Its totally different from 2016 dude. I remember when Mike Ashley bought part of it, you could feel the change - for the worse - almost overnight and I left Not long after you. I went in to the Bromley store a couple of weeks ago and its full of merch, board games and stuff. The games themselves are almost secondary now.

I'm sad to see this happen but then I can't remember the last time I bought something there or traded something in. So I'm part of the problem

Not really man. You are looking out for your best interest like they are with these changes. It’s just sad because this is the first of many domino effect steps towards a digital-only future

I have only traded a game in once in my life, it was Test Drive back on the original Xbox and I got it back a few months later as it was just bothering me that I traded a game in. But anyhow that does suck for those of you that have no problems with it, I'm sure eventually Gamestop and other stores will do the same. I don't think it will happen soon or even with the next gen systems, but maybe the one after that it not for sure when the next, next, next gen systems come out they will be completely digital. I think Nintendo will be the one to stay using physical media the longest though. But yeah, I will always buy physical when possible, and thankfully for collectors stuff like eBay exist. I have been using eBay the most as of the past few years to get my games, followed by PlayAsia, Amazon and probably the few limited release companies But if in the future the consoles don't support physical anymore, I will still buy the systems and games, but probably a hell of a lot less games than I do now.

Thanks for your insights mate! Yeah I think Nintendo will be the last to adopt an all digital future. I’m mainly gutted that one of the unique features of GAME UK is being removed, alongside the Elite Membership. There are no real incentives to buy there anymore at this rate. As for buying and selling physical formats, I think independent “Mum & Pap” retro stores are far more important nowadays, alongside places like CEX

I've cancelled my elite membership after getting the email today.

The Fraser Group has too many businesses to care about GAME UK. All the changes are understandable, but the one that I personally oppose is removing the Elite Membership and its perks. At this rate, they should rebrand to TOYS UK
