I think it’s important for children to participate in being close to their family to learn how to say goodbye. If you don’t share your feelings with your children they don’t understand how to show final respects to their loved ones. They need to feel their pain for their loss. It’s best they do that with others and be comforted.

What is wrong with people? A funeral is a sad part of life. It would be weird for princess charlotte if she wasn’t invited. Passing is sad but part of life and important to see for children. The greef is there anyway, so let’s process it together.

I don't see the problem with the children attending, it was their great grandmother after all, someone they were very close with and without a doubt loved dearly. What I am most impressed with was their behavior. Both are of age to know how to act right in public, but as we've seen countless times both have a goofy nature and have no problem making faces, sticking out their tongues, or being just a normal rambunctious little kid no matter the surrounding. It's as if even at their young ages they have gifts of reading a room and catching the vibe, and acted accordingly. My kids do not possess such talents and would have been running up and down the aisle no matter how many reprimands or evil eyes thrown their way. Such sweet kids and I'm glad they got the opportunity to be included in such a monumental event, something they will appreciate when they are older.

My daddy died when I was 9, & I can't imagine not being there to pay my respects & say goodbye. Obviously it will be hard for them. Its hard for adults to lose a loved one. They were the best behaved children that age ive almost ever seen. I love how Charlotte takes care of Prince George & keeps him in line. She will be a wonderful support to him throughout their lives. As sad as it was, these two had every right to be there. My prayers to them, the family & the commonwealth

The children were not on display. The children were there to participate in their great grandmothers funeral. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. My children were at my grandmothers funeral. It helped them process. They just experienced death with their great grandfather as well.. it will happen. ITS LIFE . It’s their life style to be in the spot light. Thats always been and always will be. I guarantee the size of the funeral is not what upset her or the fact people were watching. They r use to that. It’s the emotion of losing her loving great grandmother whom by all accounts was close to. That’s not unusual folks. So Much judgement like people know why she was upset. Unless People Know them Personally how can one have an opinion. 🙄

I started going to family funerals when a great aunt passed away and the death of my 3 day old baby sister that I knew was supposed to be born but was born with severe heart malformation. My mother didn’t come to it but I went with my dad and I comforted my mother when I came home. I was only 3 years old when I went to the first funeral which was a visitation and rosary followed the next day by a Funeral Mass at Church and the graveside burial service. I learned the importance of my Faith and that life is fragile. You need to know the meaning of life. I grew up knowing the importance of what was meaningful and not to be selfish but to care about others. How dare you criticize them for bringing the children. They most definitely need to be there. You have to face things in this life that are unpleasant and be strong.

Whether or not the children should or shouldn’t attend the funeral of a beloved great grandmother was totally up to their parents. They behaved impeccably and handled the entire thing better than some of the adults that attended. They were close to their great grandmother and deserved to see how amazing and adored she was by the world. They also deserved to have the closure it gave them.

They weren't on display, or being paraded. They are old enough to learn what's happening, and understand what their life will be and how they will have to be.have I think Prince George has been becoming increasingly aware of his future position over the last year or two, and that his sister will be another Princess Anne- a support and adviser. Either way there is little doubt that their parents know what they're doing and what is best in these unique circumstances.

It was said that the "powers that be" wanted George to be in it because of his standing in the line of succession. Evidently the two were questioned @ length to find out how they were feeling about being a part of the Queen's farewell. So that is why George was in this farewell to Gan Gan. So W&C werent parading them in front of the world to see.

People need to quit being so judgemental of the Royal Family as they are just as human as anyone else despite their positions in life. Prince George and Princess Charlotte had every right to attend their Great Grandmother's funeral service as it will help them with the grieving process. I think they handled it all very well. Princess Charlotte broke down crying because she just lost her dear Gan Gan. These people are not puppets they feel emotions and should be allowed to show their emotions in appropriate ways despite their titles. God bless them all. I am praying for them to have strength to endure this trying time for their family 👪 🙏 ♥

I have a large extended family myself. My grandmother will be 96 in December; my son (12) is the oldest great-grandchild, with two more a year younger than him. I would be shocked if, when Grandma’s time comes, any but the youngest great-grandchildren were left out.

There is not a single picture of her with tears on her face, and I find it hard to believe there doesn’t exist a single video of her crying, or any actual photos with her facing forward to show her tears. My father committed suicide when I was 11 years old. Because of the gruesome circumstances, my mother would not allow me to view him in his casket. I was sent to a room in the church to sit alone hearing the screams and cries. For decades I was able to convince myself that he wasn't really dead. That for whatever reason he was in hiding because in my little girl mind how was he able to leave me in life without him. I looked for him as a teenager believing he would come back for me. Then now as an adult Im trying to come to terms with this on my own because my siblings were able to deal with it a long time ago. So for those who criticize the parents for taking Charlotte to the funeral you have no idea how blessed she is to be able to grieve with her family as a child!!

Parts of this video are misleading. You said Charlotte burst into tears (this is not a fact from the stories I have read, people are assuming that by the photo which doesn't 100% look like she is crying.) You then said Catherine comforted her by patting her shoulder. I'm pretty sure that photo was not taken at the time of the coffin being placed in the hearse at Wellington Arch. I think it was taken when the children came to Westminster Abbey hours before (or maybe Windsor Castle after?) These types of videos have little to go on and just fill in the gaps with what they think.

You know, what l had heard was that Prince William and Kate had left their decision about taking the kids with them to the service to the very last moment. They knew all of these issues to be considered. They understood the emotional toll this would effect their kids with. But they also had to take into account that the position they took was sacrificial but also a sign that the continuity of the monarchy was solid and that these are parents who wanted to assure that their kids are the future of the monarchy. The fact that Wm. and Kate had put off their decision up to the 11th hour says that they did not take that choice lightly, but they put the vision of the British people first. I have every faith that Wm. and Kate will know how to balance the reality with the love. To have their kids join them was a tough decision. But l still don't think they put a step wrong with their choice. Upon the death of the Queen, and let's face it, not everyone is a fan of King Charles lll, the Prince and Princess of Wales appearing with their 2 older kids was meant to show their devotion of service to the British people. I get that people are of the opinion that they should not have put such young kids through that kind of loss or trauma. But people also need to remember that, this is not an everyday average family either. When you have been borne into royal bloodlines like this, the Wales's know that they are expected to do everything they can in service to their nation, and to be devoted for all of their lives. After the Queen passed, Charles told the U.K. that he will do everything he can to fulfill his duties just as his mum did, and l believe that Wm. and Kate will do the same.

Let's not forget that not only was Queen Elizabeth II the Queen, she was also a much beloved great-grandmother to both George and Charlotte! And I gathered, and and sure, that both of those children were given the choice of rather or not to attend the services or not. I'm also very sure that their parents discussed with them every detail of what would take place. I do agree with Prince William and Princess Catherine that Louis was simply too young. You know, when I was growing up, my mother was, (still is), EXTREMELY overprotective. My very much adored great-aunt passed away from lung cancer when I was 10 years old, (just a couple of months ahead of my turning 11), and my mother would not allowed me to attend her funeral, even though I had spent many, many hours sitting with my great-aunt. I've never quite forgiven Mother for not allowing me the opportunity to say goodbye.

Why shouldn't Princess Charlotte and George be at their great grandmother's funeral ? They are close to her, and that is the ĺast opportunity for them to pay tribute to the queen great grandma they love.

Also, I disagree about those kids not being there at the funeral. Even without the fact of it being a legit historical occasion, it’s also her GRANDMOTHER and seeing the ceremony first hand, allows her to learn how to deal with grief on a world wide stage - this is important training for a royal.

We went to funerals when I was a child didn't hurt us any. All these people talking about what they should do with their own children is so wrong and none of their business.

Princess Charlotte does look a lot like Queen Elizabeth around the mouth when she perse her lips together. I've seen Queen Elizabeth in her youth do this and I was immediately reminded of Princess Charlotte. Second children are very mature at least those I know of.

This was a private event that we were kindly allowed to view from a distance, They're doing the things that are proper for a funeral of a loved one in spite of our intrusion. I believe that a child old enough to understand death should be allowed to participate in saying goodbye. Again, this was a private event that happened to have a bunch of looky looks hanging over it.
