@@massattack9503 the comparisons aren't that far fetched though, both have an E that they can use to teleport themselves around, that it infuses them with dendro attacks, plus a low cost nuke that has good AOE, of course, Al haitam has more mechanics but that is espected from a new 5* , like his stacks and his ult allowing him to be a quickswap unit (plus his element and multipliers are really good, unlike keking who even after dendro still has problems due to her numbers being really , really low)

Technical Furina is man amongst God's too

My favorites thing about Alhaitham is his characterization. In a game full of exaggerated, sometimes insane personalities, he's the most realistic and down to earth dude in the whole cast. He's just a dude trying to chill in a very unchill world. He knows he's smarter than most of Sumeru, but he doesn't hold it against people or let it get to his head. He's a bit sassy, but he's never malicious or harmful. He knows the kind of life he wants, and he sticks to it.

I like his personality because in a game full of super simp characters where all of them only do compliments for anything *X playable character* do, (specially during chill events), he is the most sober. P.s. I want more unfriendly playable characters to give more types of interactions with the Traveler (and other characters). The only one is Wanderer, but now is just a Nahida's emo son. And Alhaitham that is almost neutral (I'm not talking about faction "Villain/Hero", but personality)

@@aravil2858 I already out Wanderer (but now he is less Badboy with Nahida). And Yae...she is surely less "simp" than other characters. I think she is just hated (only by the players, and not by characters in-game) because she is not a gentle souls like 90% of Genshin waifus, but still I find her not enough; is like Dori, supposed to being super greedy, but she always give us discounts; Yae seems unfriendly, but doesn't do so many unfriendly things. Just call us "little one" and just joke.

Alhaitham being op is really funny because he’s just a guy that wants to keep his 9-5 routine life and doesnt care about anything else

As a casual player, Alhaitham just feels really fun to play, he also feels consistent in my opinion especially when pairing him up with Kuki and now Furina. The fact that he can utilize 4 star supports such as Kuki and Xingqiu is already a bonus of him being F2P both the fun and free to play part. Also I never get tired of seeing his animations, it looks really clean too.

And with Xianyun's release he'll be doing lots of plunge attack ( if leaks are true) bringing lots of razorblades. Even without that my c0 alhaitham clears out abyss everytime without nahida and without his signature.

My Alhaitham has actually been VERY Much improved by Furina ngl Baizhu, EM Raiden, and Furina, is by far my highest DPS team right now. With all C0 units and only 1 signature weapon (Albaitham's), this team can clear any content with my fucking eyes closed

Cyno is good now yeah, but he’s so heavily reliant on his burst and can’t do much of anything without it, while Alhaitham has so many ways to get chisel light mirror stacks that he doesn’t need his burst to hit like a truck (though for the most efficient playstyle he does use it)

He just got better. You get 2 new hyperbloom variants - Kuki/Furina/Nahida/Alhaitham: more dps but less comfy due to Kuki's way of healing - Raiden/Furina/Baizhu/Alhaitham: slightly less than 1st option but way more comfy

I remember people comparing him to Nahida on his release when they fill completely different roles & the same thing happened between Neuvillete & Furina, it's like comparing Xiao with Kazuha, which is so weird.

​@@srikrishnak196 yeah fischl with al is also good as well. and it could also be a good 4th slot with Deepwood or instructor Kuki(Full EM Deepwood if i'm running quickbloom) and Al. though it's probably not talked about as much due to how Fischl's A4 passive not being able to proc often in Al teams. but with kuki i think it can work.

​@pepelarrza3877 while them both being on fielders,i think they're also not that comparable given how different their kits are,one heavily relies on dendro reactions to do the damage while nuevilette is a self sustainer carried by sheer brute force with everyone in the team focused to buff him (aside from furina who deals solid damage herself),alhaitham for reaction teams,nuevilette for unga bunga

What makes him stands out to the rest of On-field DPSes is that as a Dendro unit, he have many sources of damage yet he himself also do big damage, that is why one of his best teams is quickbloom for instance.

This team comp; Alhaitham, Raiden, Yelan, and Baizhu is my most OP team at the moment. They're the reason I no longer struggle to get 36* in the abyss. Even though my other team(Zhongli, Dehya, Thoma, and Wriothesley) is struggling to clear the other half, Alhaitham's team makes up for it by clearing the other half really fast.

interesting... 30-22 secs i thought with Al it's usually 12-14 secs of uptime. maybe it's because i q first and then save the e for the next rotation. while the q is active i just do normals to proc yelan or xingqiu's burst and to make bloom cores and then go ham until kuki's ring expires. Kuki is on deepwood here so multiwave isn't a problem here.

it’s very lore-accurate of Alhaitham to be so easy to gear up and start playing LOL he really needs the bare minimum of like iron sting and 4pc gilded to keep up with other top DPS characters

Tbh his mirror scalings were lower in the OG kit. Mhy didnt nerf him,more like power shifted him from having his burst as the main form of dmg to his mirrors.

Oh how the tables have turned... Still remember the good ol days where everyone was saying waifu dps units are better than male dps units. And then alhaitham released and he is still arguably the best or the 2nd best dps in the game along with neuvilette. Even the other best options after them are male dps units (wanderer,xiao,lyney etc).

I wouldn’t necessarily say all the male hypercarries and dps units outrank the female ones, Hu Tao still hits hard, so do Raiden and Eula (though she has been pushed down significantly), and while they may be less popular, Ayaka and Ganyu aren’t the worst out there. We also now have Navia, who herself has basically become the only unit anyone would want for Geo damage who isn’t a certain free four-star who got obscenely buffed by Furina. But generally yeah Alhaitham and Neuvillette sweep all competition, male or female.

my personal ranking of 5⭐️ DPS units (in no particular order) would have to be like: SS: Alhaitham and Neuvillette S: Wanderer, Lyney, Raiden, Wriothesley, Tighnari, Hu Tao, Navia, Ayaka, Eula, Tartaglia, Ayato, Ganyu A: Yoimiya, Cyno, Xiao, Itto, Keqing, Diluc B: Klee D: Aloy Mind you being in one tier doesn’t mean I think they’re all on the exact same level within the tier, I just wrote them as I thought of them

The fact that Alhaitham's kit somehow already makes him a comfy enough character even with rotation mistakes is kinda funny in a sense that's it's in-character of him to make sure he stays afloat above them all.

he really has everything going for him, it's almost unfair: - sword user - dendro user - simple talents/kit - resin-efficient artifacts - tall male character model - LOTS of quest content/exposure - hot - married to THE kaveh light of kshahrewar

I play alhaitham all the time, i even played alhaitham back in 2.7, her electro infusion leads to crazy aggravate damage. Alhaitham has the the hottest design and cute pigtails.

I got you on this one Vars, it's definitely bc of how he looks, his ability to teleport and his VA doing the MOST

He nailed that capable handsome guy trope. He got the attitude and the kit to back it up dang it! That's why even though I wasn't planning to pull for him in his first banner I caved in. 😂 No regrets though he's really powerful and snappy. His playstyle is the type that gets more satisfying the more you master him.

i just love alhaitham in general

As you go deeper into dolphin meta, spread/quicken become exceedingly powerful. And Alhaitham mirrors can dish significant damage in aoe. as a fast attacker, with good range, decent HP pool and being tall male, you get all the advantages you need on a dps. And his kit is extremely versatile.

It’s not how it actually works in reality, but I REALLY like this newest system of the second in command of a certain region being an insane damage dealer who is able to take advantage of the insane buffs that the Archon of their region provides, Furina and Neuvilette ya know

@@sakutaro3musik486 That was definitely the intention, she was designed similarly to Albedo for Mono Geo teams (With Itto being like Raiden and Gorou being like Sara), with an elemental skill that deals impressive damage from off field and a burst that, whilst the skill is on the field, deals immense damage that has an incredibly high Energy cost that is somewhat alleviated by Raiden and gets the highest bonus possible from Raiden's E skill, It was also somewhat compounded by the fact that her long field time seems to compliment Raiden's super short field time so they can effectively share the spotlight equally. But Dendro was also right round the corner so, to make sure the element's introduction didn't flop, they designed a couple of Electro units WITH Dendro and EM in mind, Yae being one of them, thanks to her extra scaling from EM, unfortunately this meant that her best teams didn't include Raiden at all despite her obvious design synergy I guess if they hadn't edged the community as hard as they did and instead released her in 2.4 or 2.3 then she would probably have had more synergy with Raiden, potentially reducing opponent's Electro RES and generating more energy by herself

I would love if they continued this pattern! It just feels nice to play the second in command / high authority figure of the nation with the Archon since they usually have a good relationship together. With that being said, Yae Miko and Raiden Shogun can definitely work well together. Ningguang and Zhongli work well together but Zhongli is just very flexible in general. As for Mondstadt, Jean is a support and an off-fielder and doesn’t necessarily need to be paired with Venti unless you are playing double Anemo.

now this is an unexpected why everyone plays. even without nahida i'm still impressed with his perfomance.. like how he works as a dendro dps, like the only unit he needs is kuki and a deepwood user to function and that's it. heck you could even be like me and give shinobu a full em deepwood set just make sure you get a ton em and hp substats. the Hydro doesn't have to be xingqiu it could be anyone who could apply hydro off field(Minus Mona) slow or fast. like i run Barbara with Al sometimes and it's pretty good if i'm not against cryo enemies since Al tends to get to hugging range with enemies. i have nahida but i never use her with Al, it's really strong and of course Nahida in almost every dendro team is a big upgrade that it would feel worse, but i wouldn't really feel that way. But i wanna run two dendro teams in the abyss. maybe once i fully build my internat team i'll use her with Al. i'd say the only "bad" things about him is that he is carry but that goes for other carries, he takes a learning curve, and he's tied to kuki but this is a team based game. so idk if that should be part of it. edit:i forgot that he and neuvillette are like monsters at low investment and C0. they are nasty.

Shouldnt Kuki be on Tenacity to boost Alhaitam with the unconditional +20 Atk? Unless youre running him on a quickbloom team of course + how do you manage his ER without Nahida to battery him?

​@@pepelarrza3877 for me my al is at 120-130ish i tend to change artifactts alot. i mostly use Yaoyao on tenacity as a decent dendro battery and of course two favs. most of the time i Q first. since i need to save his skill. oh and this is mostly for quickbloom. it's ok to focus on abit more er at the moment since you can use harbinger of dawn to deal with your crit rations.

​@@pepelarrza3877If the Kuki is doing Hyperblooms it's better to run an EM build. And in Spread it's usually better to give Kuki instructor because the buff is stronger (though it forces shorter rotation as the buff uptime is a bit worse)

@@reeyankharadi_16 interesting.. i actually put instructors on either Yaoyao or Barbara(when i'm not using xingqiu) because it's so good for him. and shinobu in deepwood, like the damage difference when i saw it, isn't really that big and em has diminishing returns. like i focused so heavy on EM substats on her to reach 900 to 950ish em and then combined with dendro res of course.

Best part of Alhaitham for me is after pressing E and fast plunge attack or charge attack he do tons of damage not like most characters except Burst and a lot of energy recharge.

interesting.. i usually burst first and save his e for the next rotation. since i don't worry about doing physical damage for 2 secs since the burst still applies dendro so you can still proc XQ's Q or Yae's E or Fischl's E or Yelan's Q. or if i'm lucky with ping i could probably go with kuki e while Al's Q is still going but i need to have alot of practice for that to be consistent.

@@usmanya5110 That's what everyone does in Abyss , but I wasn't referring to the rotation because only some Boss on the 12th floor is able to survive longer after a full rotation.

Easily one of my favorite characters to play. Good damage and amazing DPS for Dendro.

One thing I really like is that he works everywhere. He has good exploration with his skill and isn't burst dependant, making him reliable in the overworld. He clears any domain with ease because there's so many possible rotations to approach either many waves or 2 strong enemies. And in abyss his teams pop off doing big single target / aoe dmg. And he is as difficult to play as you want him to be with very complex combos that are possible. But also a very easy reliable combo

I liked the point you made about him being a DPS and Driver both together. As a Childe main since 1.1, Alhaitham's playstyle just feels incredibly natural to me, lol. I love how fluid his attacks are and how easy it is to keep them Dendro-infused and how his rotations feel to play. Combine that with a character and personality I find stupidly amusing, a great design and VA, and a prominent role in the Archon quest, then yeah, it's not wonder why he's basically my second main at this point. It's very often him and his Dendro teams I take with me in the Spiral Abyss, along with my go-to International. He just feels nice to play.

I love playing him because he's simultaneously easy to build and vastly improved by being heavily invested into. and mastering his mirrors requires knowing the time and speed of his attack chain, along with mastering stuff like the "quick hold E" usage of his skill. putting this all together and unleashing 5-6 consecutive 3-mirror attacks feels AMAZING, and is one of the reasons I bring him to every single abyss(alongside Nahida, obviously)

One of my favourite things about Alhaitham is his field time flexibility. You can either go all in with burst and then skill/CA for full mirror uptime, or do a shorter rotation where you cycle between using burst on one rotation and then skill/plunge on the next. It gives him this quickswap feeling while also making you feel smart because it's not someone like Keqing where you can just do whatever and she'll still work.

I loved him since they first introduced him. I pulled him and haven't stopped playing him since. He runs with Nahida. Kuki and xinqou usually but I just added Furina instead and she works really well with him too. Even managed to pull his signature weapon too!

This is literally me 😂 Even from his leaks, I decided I was going to pull for him. Even after he got "nerfed" from his beta, I loved him so much, I didn't care lol I'm so happy I snatched his weapon too 😊 I also use him with nahida, kuki and now I added furina to the team, it's so fun!

Me too! I fell in love at first sight when he showed up in the Sumeru trailer and was excited to get him. He became my favorite Sumeru character since (Kaveh is close runner-up) and he was my first to triple crown. Got him his signature sword on his rerun. Also his JP voice actor is my fave and as handsome as him!

For me other reason why everyone plays Alhaitham - He is one of the most badass character in the game.

Just returned to the game after stopping early this year. Was fortunate to pull alhaitham, kuki and nahida right when I quit so currently building all 3. Super excited to use all of them finally lol

Amazing video, I've been looking forward for an Alhaitham one!! I'm among the crowd who would have pulled him even if he healed and buffed the enemies, but getting a top-tier DPS as well as a character I really love was such a treat! I've taken him to every single abyss since day 1 of getting him, and the damage ceiling of my account just absolutely skyrocketed. I also like the comparison to Childe because of how similar their play styles are. As a Childe main, Alhaitham is the only character in the game who's on par with how much fun he is to me. I used to wish there were two Childes, one for each side of the abyss, and now I basically have that! Bonus points for none of their teammates overlapping :D

@@usmanya5110 Ahh yeah, it took me quite a long time getting around to building intl as well. I wish you luck with your artifact rolls if you’re able to get around to building them!

I'll be honest, I was initially drawn to Alhaitham because of his appearance . . . but once I saw his trailer, I definitely wanted him on my team because at the time I wanted to find a good replacement for Lumine (who was still my Main at the time) and I was still in Inazuma too, so it helped to find a good Dendro fighter since I knew Dendro was good against Electro. I was lucky to get him and he's still my primary main. I will admit I am also innately drawn to Sword fighters when it comes to main fighters because gamewise, it's what I am used to the most. I've been playing games for a long time and in the action/adventure genre, I am used to swords. Sure there are claymores, but they are pretty heavy and I prefer someone faster on their feet. Tip for Alhaithaim's material needed for Ascension- you just need to go the boss area needed for another Ascension item, and just farm around the perimeter. Plus those tunnels have the material also. The only thing I don't like grinding for is now having to get an item from the final boss domain you need once his talents have been raised to a certain extent, and even then it's not a guaranteed you'll get it. I'll be honest though I am looking at Natlan, and I am worried for my boy here since Dendro isn't great against Pyro, so now that I do have both Neuvillette and Furina, I am building them up slowly but surely lol. FYI, Alhaitham is also F2P friendly too. I only have him at C0 and he's already amazing. If and when his banner comes around again I hope to pull for him again.

I appreciate that you specify that he is the best on field dendro dps that is NOT Nahida, because Nahida being included just means he is second at everything.

Hey Vars. Great video. Comparing Nahida and Alhaitham got me thinking about nahida's constellations and how C6 Nahida ends up being an "on fielder" that takes less time and allows a shared short on-field time DPS to fit onto a team with her. Based on this random tangent, have you ever considered doing a video/video series on ranking/reviewing 5* constellations? As the game gets older and players continue to get capable teams set up faster and faster, I think 5* cons become more relevant topic to dive into, not just a conversation exclusively for whales.

This video is reminding me about how I’m always right about characters like this. I always liked Kazuha, Kokomi, Alhaitham, and Lyney, but when they first came out they were just 5* Sucrose, the only character who can’t crit, green Keqing, and male Ganyu

he has a fun kit, a lot of team options and is very good without constellations / signature weapon!

I remember when he first came out, I watched a handful of youtubers talk about how he was going to be complicated to play because of the mirror mechanic. They made it sound like it was going to be a huge inconvenience to juggle them. I was almost intimidated out of pulling for him. ... But he was cool so I got him anyway. 0 regrets on that one.

LMAO, When you used your Rayquaza vs MEGA Rayquaza analogy for Nahida and Alhaithem, a pokemon go ad popped up. Great timing!

I was about a minute into the video when I realized you used Pokemon: Conquest music in the background. I cannot tell you how much that means to me.

I have interest in his character as soon as I find out who his VA is and his role in Sumeru AQ is just so cool. Personality wise is difficult to deal with and easily misunderstood if irl 😅. But he meant good will at times just not too much. Gameplay wise, oh boy... Even at C0 he is a high value unit as dps and quite flexible for team comp as well because of dendro. Easily my fav dps and my most played character. Cons: You need to learn his gameplay and combo for high value dmg but it's not that difficult. If you're not good at dodge, you need unit that can help his interruption resistance. If you're considering valuable dendro dps, Alhaitham is one of your options.

Alhaitham is really strong but the funny thing is he was supposed to be even stronger, when he was still being tested he got a 20% damage nerf AND locking him to on field a few days before his release. Imagine if pre nerf alhaitham was the one we got.

No, the initial change was a 12% nerf to his damage and they made another change which buffed him by 8%. So not really that big of a difference,

From Alhaitham day one, has been my main dps. He is now taking a mini break because Neuvillette has been my main lately….. I do love them both 😊

I raised eyebrows reading the title... I initially used him in spread teams where mistakes are really punishing but I tried quickbloom and-I was just shocked.

I play him because he does big green damage.

I started to play genshin few months ago , and I had to pick either him or Kazuha as my first 5 star , and I picked alhaitham because I found him much fun to play and (he's a husbando) , plus I needed a main dps, I don't regret my decision , he helped me a lot throughout the game and I recently got my first 36 star thanks to him ( and Monsieur Neuvilette)

Alhaitham/kuki hyperbloom has been my go to abyss team since his release, the other side will change. He is a great f2p unit. I am glad to see people stray away from the "he needs Nahida mentality" and people are seeing him as a great unit. I have Nahida but never felt the need to use them together, one on each side is perfect. Though they can be put together but it is not a necessity. Also, not needing Bennett and Xiangling is a plus they can be used on another team.

pretty much me, like i prefer using nahida on the other side as opposed to being with Al. Like I play Burgeon on one side and quickbloom in the other. Nahida and Al is really strong, but i prefer to use Nahida on another side since dendro teams are just good and because i don't have my internat team built, i prefer to use her on the other side.

If he had a lower CD I’d main him I pull for overworld fun mainly and thats why I love Keqing

I am a C5 (soon to be C6 hopefully) Alhaitham main and I just love his playstyle. It's tricky at first, but after you get the hang of his rotations and how he works, it's just a lot of fun and he can deal big damage. 😊 I also have his signature weapon, ofc, but he also performs well without it. He is one of my absolute favorite character to play as.

I just reaalllyyy like his design and then fell in love with his gameplay (even months later I still find his design so pretty qwq)

Back in 3.2 everyone said that "if you have nahida. You don't need any other dendro character" Then Alhaitam came and he's pretty broken

If you ever get Tighnari you could try that, otherwise us in the Dendro fan camp are gonna have to wait a bit since the Dendro reserve seems to have been exhausted and Chiori is a Geo unit

What I love about Alhaitham is that you don't *need* Nahida with him. Instead you can use Yaoyao for the healing and Dendro shred+application through Deepwood, meaning you can have an Electro applicator of your choice (Fischl because Fischl, Beidou, hell even Lisa can work well with her Def shred, Shinobu for ADDED healing and Hyperblooms if you want to go for HB) and just being immortal because Yaoyao's heals are lowkey kinda cracked. Leaving one slot completely free. You want a shielder? You can. you want a grouper in Kazuha or Sucrose? Fine, whatever you want. Use Xingqiu or Yelan if you want to go the Hyperbloom route with Shinobu. I hope I have enough wishes left when he reruns because he's the only character I really want on my account after Neuvillette.

what's funny is that i tend to slot Kuki on deepwood(with a S***ton of elemental mastery and HP substats) and Yaoyao on instructors or ToTM, maybe one day the healing set but idk if that sey is worth it even if there is also Kuki, my problem with yaoyao on deepwood is relying on yuegei can feel really annoying at times. i remember playing all in this odd team of triple healer of Yaoyao, Kuki and Barbara since Alhaitham is always at hugging range.

Pulled for the coolest normals in the game, stayed for everything else

Altough not my favourite character story wise, he is without a doubt the pull i am most satisfied with. He is so incredibly fun, and so damn strong too. One of two characters that i have bothered trying to get their weapon for. ...other one being Navia. Currently sitting at 2/2 fate points, questioning my resolve.

Another great thing about him being a sword user is that his charged attacks are fast, use very little stamina, and don't propel him past enemies. Makes it easy to spam

day 9 of asking vars for his cryo element analysis went missing for a while due to some silly unfortunate events but I'm back now! Gonna catch up on all the vars content I've missed over the past few weeks! Seeing a video on Al makes me pretty happy since I really enjoy the character and of course he's very effective across just about all content in the game.

I wouldn't say he cant be compared to Neuvilette. Just like Neuvilette he is a versatile and very strong onfield carry who has one of the best teams in the game. They are equal for me. But of course they cant compete with off field units like furina, xq, yelan, nahida

Alhaitham is the most clear example of dps characters not being made equal.

I’m really happy that especially with Fontaine’s Furina and Neuvilette, Genshin seems to have the archon usually stand in a more supportive role ensuring that they have good longevity, and then they have a secondary character of their respective element that becomes top tier in a way that doesn’t force them into competition.

I'm so happy i was able to get him on his release as well as his weapon. Literally, no regrets ❤❤ Hope anyone who wants him gets him in his future re-runs, he's amazing 💚💚

I skipped him on debut because his hair wasn't green. In the time since, I'd gone through some of the Sumeru Archon quests, and snagged him on his rerun. Still haven't built him all the way up, because Dendro gemstones are annoying (already have all the chicken and cube materials I need!), but I feel a bit more flutter in my heart seeing him on the roster.

Love how the first thing I hear is “according to the judgement of the oratrice mécanique d'analyse cardinale”, the adds knows!

i remembered when he first come out and the trailer drop everybody kept saying how bad he will be or how bad his mirror kit is but now suddenly he one of the best C0 DPS i on the other hand was a new genshin player and Alhaitham is my second banner i wished on i literally only pulls this dude for his looks didnt even know who he was and his demo trailer just make me want him all the more

Life is good when Vars uploads.

I dunno why but my quicken alhiatham team is little stronger and WAY consistent and easier to use than my hyperbloom alhaitham team. Even when i use the strongest characters with strongest builds in both scenarios.

maybe try quicken bloom by using slower hydro app so you can dish out more hyperblooms and spread damage.

Run him with 1000 em raiden, 220+ ER Xingqui + Golden Troupe Fischl and he melt enemies like a butter 🧈

@@usmanya5110 Not really. Hyper/Quickbloom usually less demanding team than C0 Hu Tao vape team (for example). No need to learn jump cancel etc. My example are extreme but as long you know what sets to use and rotation, Hyper/Quickbloom team are very reliable to help player clear hard content.

@@usmanya5110 fair point but with 1000 em raiden/Kuki + fischl, the main point is to deleted enemies faster that they can hit you. For comfort, Kokomi can replace Xingqui but imo you need to swap fischl with other dendro units.

I like Alhaitham’s gameplay and playstyle but unfortunately I don’t play him because I don’t have him. I skipped both banners for Yelan and Eula. When he comes back in the future, I’ll get him definitely

He's the first character that I saved up enough for both him and his weapon, ngl I just found him hot and the fact he was good was a nice bonus

Big green Al just works out of the box, no cons needed, slap on a half decent artifact set & weapon then start owning. Admittedly I did give him my Ayaka's Mistsplitter but he gets so much more field time anyway.
